The Freed Hunt #2
Value in Visions
When librarian Rina Baroni’s brother is kidnapped by a warrior Goddess, all because she won’t use her new oracle abilities, she turns to the one woman she's been drawn to since magic returned to the hills of the South Downs: warrior-turned-bouncer Aerten.
The only surviving daughter of Boudica, Aerten has dealt with her fair share of turncoat Gods over the last millennia – not least Andraste, the Goddess who abandoned her family during the Roman occupation – but when the Goddess starts targeting the shy librarian that Aerten’s falling for, Aerten will sacrifice anything to keep Rina safe. Even if it means becoming the centre of Rina's magical visions.

She can be found at the foot of the South Downs in the UK, either nerding out over local mythologies or drinking cocktails on the beach.
She believes with all of her bifurious heart that writing romance is an act of rebellion and that academia will be so much better when studying diverse HEAs is naturally part of the curriculum.

Very Interesting!
This was an interesting world to jump into. I haven’t read book 1 but could follow along easily although I now want to read the rest of the series! So having not read the first, the chemistry was wonderful but I assume we may have learned a bit more about them in the first book, even if they weren’t the MCs, as things are mentioned and then we jump forward. Pretty quick read. Interesting and now I need to know more…

Fantastic second book in this series. Rina and Aerten are simply adorable together. Their instant chemistry is beautifully written, you can’t help but root from them right from the start. The Boudica aspect of the plot was great (author is spot on when she talks about it being one of the first things we learn about in school), and the rich mythology and worldbuilding of book 1 (Forged in Flames) continues unabated. Although Value In Visions is a stand-alone romance, I think it does help to read FIF for a true sense of the overarching plot, ie how the Wild Hunt members became the Freed Hunt. I am obsessed with the supporting characters as well, can’t wait to see who is next for a HEA. This series has so many things I love - soft but sexy romance, the English countryside, rich mythology, found family, humour, hints about future books, food! (so much food ☺️). Love it.

*I received an arc copy in exchange for an honest review*
This wlw novella is both a satisfying short paranormal love story between a librarian and a warrior AND a window into a pretty epic world-build called The Freed Hunt. Be warned that you will want to know more about everyone and this series is just getting started;) The characters we do get to know are absolutely lovely. The dynamic between our main characters Rina and Aerten reminds me of a modern take on My Heart is in the Highlands - except that Aerten is literally ancient. If you like the brawny/brainy combination, then these two are for you. Ditto for found families and exuberant biological families that won't take no for an answer. After this introduction, I'm really looking forward to reading more Freed Hunt adventures.

Really good sapphic romances can be difficult to find. It's even harder to find fantasy sapphic romances. Aerten and Rina have some pretty fantastic chemistry on the page, even moreso than the couple from Forged in Flames. A lot of authors go through a sophomore slump, but this series is getting better. I'm excited for the rest of the series. If I could find ANYTHING to criticize, it's that there weren't more sex scenes due to the length. Would have loved this to be a touch longer, but that just speaks to how good it is!

3 stars. This wasn't bad! I liked Aerten and Rina a lot and they had wonderful chemistry but some of the world building was a bit murky. To be fair, I've not read the first book but other than that this was good.

This was surprisingly good, albeit short (for me)
