When a strange island rises out of the sea right in front of their ship, Conor McCall and his fellow Recon Marines find themselves within sight of their new home... and fighting for their lives,.
The Deep Ones know about Conor’s sword, and they want it. Badly.
Fighting their way out of the ambush, the Marines and their allies find themselves drawn into the quest for the sword’s twin, far off to the east.
Others want to take both ancient swords as well, and the Marines find themselves pursued by an empire propped up by sorcery, and opposed by monsters and revenants that have guarded the way to the second ancient, blessed sword for ages.
Peter Nealen is a former Recon Marine, a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, and something of an aspiring renaissance man (emphasis on aspiring). He has long been a reader of history, philosophy, folklore, science fiction, and fantasy, and is the author of the American Praetorians series of paramilitary thrillers as well as the Jed Horn series of supernatural thrillers.
It's amazing to watch the Sword of Iudecael's newest bearer grow wiser! But the hunt is now on for the other sword; the Sword of Catergym. And when going after it is proposed, Conor McCall has to make the call to accept or deny the hunt for it.
Will this strange group of Tigarn's come through or will some fall to the evils on the way? Read this wonderfully action filled book and fall in love with the Recon Marines and their new World's compatriots!
Peter Nealen, you rock! Thanks for sharing this excellent epic fantasy! Please keep writing!
Mr. Nealen has outdone himself with this one. Bursting with action, world building continues, and the Marines gain allies that step up to the trek with them. Enemies galore, with supernatural horrors against them, they ever move on through a nightmarish world.
I love this story. Regular guys in irregular situations. Modern Marine meets medieval warriors and sorcery! It’s been fun to read, and I can’t wait for the next part of the story.
I still like this series which is a combination of magic and modern weapons. It’s cool seeing how they use bother to fight and handle different enemies and they have good tactics and strategy.
Dragging more as we move through the series. The next book will likely feature 2000 words on the mating habits of the unusual dromedaries of the desert lands traversed by our intrepid heroes.
