The End of Hatred

Rate this book
These are dangerous times on Etherya's Earth...

Slayer Princess Miranda has hated the Vampyres for a thousand years. Since the Awakening, she's fought to protect her people, choosing to be a warrior more than a royal. When a female Vampyre washes up on the shore of her compound's riverbank, she seizes the opportunity to take the offensive.

Vampyre King Sathan, distraught at his sister's captivity, agrees to travel with Miranda to extract the Blade of Pestilence, also hoping to change his people's state of endless war. Although the woman hates him due to the constant raids on her compound for the Slayers' life-giving blood, he can't help but admire the stubborn and strong princess.

Determined to fight their growing attraction, they forge a tentative truce while Miranda battles the constant yearning to feel the hulking Vampyre's fangs scrape against her neck...

Their faith in each other must remain strong or all will be lost...

Really awesome world-building in this paranormal romance by Rebecca Hefner. Vampires and slayers are dependent on each other in order to survive. Slayers are the only blood source vampires can drink from and vampires used to protect them. (But who wants to be kept as a cow, right?) So now they’re at war. There are also demons stirring up trouble, and it’s all just super-complex, lots of court politics and SO SO good.

Miranda, princess of the slayers (who’d much rather hang up her title and be a butt-kicker), captures a vampire princess. Sathan, king of the vampires, wants peace, but Miranda would have to convince her father. They go on a quest together, and sparks fly. These two have great, snarky chemistry that sizzled on page and watching their romance unfold was a treat!

Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader.

Etherya’s Earth is a world that mirrors ours in many ways. However, there are four main species - three that have been at constant war for a thousand years. There are the immortal Vampyres, Slayers, and the Deamons, and of course, the humans – who really don’t know anything of what’s going on in the immortal world. Etherya, the goddess, created two of these species, the Vampyres and the Slayers, to live together in harmony. Unfortunately, a horrific act of murder causes them to fight each other for a thousand years, while the villainous Deamons reap the benefits of their hatred. This is how this novel begins. Rebecca Hefner’s complicated, but well thought out world building starts the reader off in a world at war.

In The End of Hatred, the first book in the Etherya’s Earth series, we are introduced to the Princess of the Slayers Miranda, and to the Vampyre King Sathan. Together, they embark on a quest to release a special sword that is said to be the one blade that can kill the Deamon king. These two rulers are tired of the war that has plagued their people for centuries and they want to work together to build peace and to defeat their common enemy. This is, obviously, easier said than done. It is not easy to get over a thousand years of bloodshed, of hurts and misgivings. And what happens when you find yourself attracted to your enemy, to the one person you are supposed to hate above all others? Things get complicated very fast.

What I liked about this book is that Hefner carefully initiates the reader into her world so that what starts off as confusion, soon becomes second nature. She introduces us to characters that we don’t necessarily like, but eventually come to root for and love. In doing so, she starts off what I hope will be a long-term series. I am not ashamed to admit that after reading this book, I do find myself a bit addicted to these characters and I long to find out what will happen next. She expertly sets up the second book in the series, so that the reader wants to keep reading. I did find myself a bit at odds with some of the dialogue, however. I suppose it can be attributed to the fact that these creatures are over a thousand years old and sometimes they will speak formally, and other times they will talk about liking the band Metallica. Sometimes they will use swords to fight, and other times rifles. If the reader can get over the back and forth, I think this book can really be enjoyed. It is a romantic and adventurous story in a world built from scratch, which is not always an easy thing to do. But I think Hefner does a good job with this book, and I know I will be reading the others.

DNF at roughly 50%

So many info-dumps.

So many ways the female lead immediately gives control over to the male, even though he's an 'enemy.'

So many examples of cliched overt paternalism & sexism (both in the world and in the plotting) when the world-building suggests to me that the cultures wouldn't develop in that direction. (The too perfect peoples made by a goddess.)
-he ascends the throne as a child, she isn't allowed to
-all the centuries-old women are treated as children, while the men aren't
-most of the female main characters ACT like children
-the harem in which the members are literally called 'faceless women'
-the obviously tough & capable woman who is denied open military training
-the frequent references to her only duty being breeding
-she always sits in the backseat, no question
-the secondary couple in which the female is all things gentle, polite, and 'feminine'
-etc

So many ways the world doesn't make sense.

So many contradictions in character personalities.

So many ways this just isn't for me.

Note: I won a copy from the author through a GR forum giveaway. And I do try and finish these. But I'm choosing to give up on this one.

Where do I even start! This book sucked me into the world of Vampyres, Slayers, and Deamons and I kid you not when I say I couldn't put this book down. I grabbed this book when it was on sale on Amazon and I had it on my kindle for a few months before I finally got to it but once I did I devoured it, if I didn't start it so late in the day I would have finished it in one day, but sleep unfortunately did win out.

Miranda is the perfect Princess for her people, she has their best interest in her heart and she will do anything to make their survival her top priority. She proves this when Arderin, the Vampyre Princess washes up on her riverbank. Miranda goes to Sathan, King of the Vampyres, and proposes a deal...one he cannot refuse. But what neither of them expected was that on this journey they were about to embark on they would fall for one another.

The chemistry was amazing but what was even better was the whole world set up, it was so well thought out and the way everyone played a role in the others lives. It was truly a remarkable read. I have all the books in the series on my TBR list and the next book is on my kindle waiting for the right moment for me to get lost in their world again.

I highly recommend this series to anyone that enjoys paranormal romance or any kind.

Happy Reading!!!

This a first time for me by Rebecca Gender. Unfortunately this was a DNF for me from an audiobook perspective. Just couldn't get into the narrator that seemed too unrealistic. Got one forth in the listen but it was too cliche'd and a bit boring.

Can I just tell you that I had pre-ordered book 2 by chapter 3??? And this is a genre I have never even read!!

Rebecca Hefner blew me out of the water with her writing- The End of Hatred is one of the best debuts I have ever read. Plus who doesn’t love a few well placed pop culture / social media references??

Welcome to Etherya’s Earth- the immortal world of slayers, vampyres, and deamons. Hefner’s characters are fresh and original. Hell yes to Miranda - the female protagonist slash badass warrior princess with daddy issues. Unusual circumstances and their common goal of peace have her cooperating with her sworn enemy, the (sexy) vampyre king Sathan. What could go wrong?!?

I highly recommend you order this immediately so you are ready for the release of The Elusive Sun (book 2) on 1/1/2019!!!!

The world of Ethyra’s Earth is one I instantly fell in love with!

Hefner crafts a magical tale filled with vampyres, slayers, daemons, and more as we follow Miranda, a princess intent on bringing peace to her people and Sathan, a king of a race of warriors who wish to be able to walk in the sun once more.

As we watch Miranda grow into the ruler she was always meant to be, we see her finding love as well with someone who she should hate. As she struggles to deal with her emotions and the heavy burden of leading her people into a new age, she finds out the truth about her past and discovers unexpected allies along the way.

Each page had me captivated. I never wanted this story to end and I can’t wait to read about the other characters and their trials and tribulations.

Reminiscent of a J.R. Ward novel, this book is the next big thing in paranormal romance.

A Common Goal

Rebecca Hefner Etherya's Earth bk 01 The End of Hatred

The characters are plentiful with almost as many POVs as the story of how Vampyre King Sathan and Slayer Princess Miranda cut a new course for both of their species. Truthfully, I could see this as being a movie or TV series with the way it was laid out.

There are many twists, turns, and betrayals. Some I saw coming, some I didn't. I liked it more than I expected. The introduction of so much human technology caught me off guard, but it was blended in interesting ways.

As for the ending, it was sizzling, playful, and highly entertaining. The "blood sucker" and his little warrior make quite the pair! 💘😂🔥

Throughout the book, setups for several other characters were identified. This is only the first book in the series, but I can tell that this will need to be read in order as there are a couple of storylines that remain unresolved.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator is Devon Wilcox. I like him, but with the numerous characters, another voice would've been appreciated.

Outstanding New Take On Vampires & Slayers!!🔥😍😎
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)

This book has some outstanding world building, literally too 😉👍 This is based on an 'Earth Like' planet but it's been populated by this planet's Goddesses creations - Slayers & Vampires. Later she's ordered, by the Universe's other God's, to allow another race to live on her planet too - Humans.

The two immortal races lived in harmony & peace. The Vampires protected the Slayers & the Slayers donated their blood to the vampires in thanks. Then Daemons arose in the caves & the outcome, down the line, caused a thousand year war between the two immortal races!!😳😢 If they can't be brought together again they'll likely both end up extinct 😱

Princess Miranda of the Slayers & King Sathan of the Vampires may be their greatest hope for a new peace!🙏💕 Her Father & his allies may not have any capacity for peace in their hearts though?!😳 How can she unite the two races unless she can convince her own King? Will either side trust enough to unite against the Daemons so she can fulfil an ancient prophecy & kill the Daemon Lord?👺🔪

I was captivated by this story. The connections between the Vampire Royal siblings is lovely & realistic. I felt for Latimus & Lila's situation, although she was blind to it!!💔 Kenden & Miranda's relationship is wonderful and thank God she him 🙏😢 Her Father was a self absorbed and obsessive pig!!😠 He twisted, first his love into an obsessive greed, then his grief into hatred & vengence - Urgh, I loathed him & his belittling attitude!!😡

I really liked how Sathan & Miranda's relationship grew!😍 Although how he put up with her disgusting prejudice, initially, is beyond me though!!🙈 I really hated all of the derogatory language she used, it was unbecoming of a Princess on a mission for peace.👎 But as their trust, friendship & more grew it was hot & sexy 🔥💘🔥 ,
I'm looking forward to starting book #2 😎👍

I got this book free for an unbiased view from voracious readers.

The book sounded great from the blurb so I looked forward to reading it and I was definitely not disappointed. I enjoyed that although there are humans in it they're not the main part of the story but it features more around the vampires and slayers. The story flowed so well that I didn't realise how long I'd been reading until I looked at the clock well after midnight! The hero isn't Sathan but Princess Miranda, this makes such a refreshing change to have a strong male lead but a female heroine who takes charge. I loved the interaction between Sathan and his siblings, hopefully I'll get to know them in future books.

If you want a change from the usual vampire books I'd definitely give this a read.

Absolutely loved the book. I'm not a major fantasy reader but I loved it, it's a great nicely rounded story. The author does a slow build which I kind of like, and then suddenly it goes boom. There is plenty of love, romance and undercurrents of will they won't they, which I always like to see. Of course the heroine Miranda is everything she should be, feisty, but vulnerable deep down. Sathan, her counterpoint, I liked very much too. Plus there is a great cast of other characters. There were a few surprises and unexpected twists. I got pretty intense towards the end and I was very happy with the ending, and who ended up with who, which as a reader is super important to me. I liked the fact it wasn't just about the action but was as much about the characters and their thoughts, feelings and fears. There is also a fair smattering of pretty hot sex, which is great. So, in summary, the book delivers in all aspects. Particularly if fantasy is your thing, you'll love it for sure. Absolutely recommend it as an excellent read.

I could not put this book down! The characters were relatable, interesting, and multifaceted . The relationships between them deliciously built towards exactly where I'd hoped they would go. It was a great beach read and I can't wait for book 2! Looking forward to many more great stories from Hefner.

*I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.*

In its fundamentals, The End of Hatred takes a slightly new take on the traditional paranormal trope. I find the differences refreshing enough to give this book four stars. There were some critical reasons why it lost a star.

From the beginning, Rebecca Hefner build the world on philosophical ideals of good being unable to exist without its evil counterpart. This sets up the universe of Slayera, Vampyres, and Deamons. I truly enjoyed the romance element of this book, and found it not only believable but crossing my fingers for a HEA.

One of the few fundamental problems here is that this is 1,000 years since the Awakening but the main character is just now realizing the war they’ve waged needs to be stopped. It’s hard to believe that after all this time Miranda hasn’t hardened or matured in any sense until now. After these 1000 years there seems to be no context given on experience, and no main reason of why the main character is sick of how wrong the the war currently waging is. Her cousin even points out at one point that she isn’t acting like herself in her actions, but there seems to be no logical reason for her deviation in thought. I wish there would have been some history of Miranda to give us an explanation of why she is the way she is and establish a character baseline. Understanding that it can take time for people to come into their own, I think with this book is missing is an explanation of why it took 1000 years instead of 100, for example.

I thought the premise for the book was wonderful, but was left a little disappointed by the character baseline and setup. As I continued reading I found myself excusing the previous stated shortcomings of the book and was pulled into the story and binge reading to finish. Would recommend and I’ll definitely be continuing the series!

*review for the audiobook version*
*Narrated by Devin Wilcox*

This author right here, absolutely does paranormal romance right! The world building is fantastic! The character development is amazing! I feel in love with Slayer Miranda and Vampyre King Sathan, an unlikely pair for sure but opposites attract. I couldn't help but want to know more about the side characters. They are so involved and truly apart of everything that is going on, they feel like main characters too. There's smoldering hot sexual tension, intense steamy scenes that will have you fanning yourself, action, some angst and suspense. I was so wrapped up in this story and I am excited for the next book. The narrator is new to me and I really enjoyed his voice. He took on multiple characters, really bringing them to life. I highly recommend this read/audiobook!

I listened to this book in audible format. I loved the narration. If you get a chance and love vampire stories, I encourage you to try it out, the narrator has a deep sexy voice.
Sathan is the king of the Vampires and Miranda is the princess of the Slayers. These two species were made to rely on each other but then they were cast into day and night by the goddess. They have been at war ever since. Can these two leaders find the courage to unite their people once again?
They must learn to work together to win against the demons and their leader Crimeous.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and choose to leave a review. I have already listened to book 2 and am thrilled by it too. Hopefully more will be released in audio soon!

Vampires vs Slayers vs Demons = everyone’s losing. Vampires & Slayers vs Demons? Yep, now they’re thinking. Slayer princess and kickass warrior Miranda defies her father and teams up with Vampire king Sathon to obtain the prophetic sword that will save their people from the demons and bring peace once and for all. Add in some sexy fun times, and I’m thoroughly sold!

I read the most recent book in this series (Sebastian’s Fate) and loved it, so I knew I’d need to circle back and see how it all began. Happy to say, it did not disappoint.

Another world is born, and the goddess Etherya is charged with looking after it. Sounds simple enough. Then it sounds like it all went to pieces.....

Marinda is princess to the Slayera people. A beloved daughter, pampered and spoilt, until her mother is captured and never to be seen again.....
From then on, her father changes, and Marinda is left to nannies and teachers, her only friend and companion was her cousin Kenden.
Marinda is now a warrior princess, no longer content to sit at home, she takes the fight to both Deamons and Vampyre everyday. Determined to free her people from the blood raids. (Vampyres need blood to survive) and to kill the King of Deamons. No easy task, but Marinda is nothing if not stubborn.

Sathan is King of the Vampyres, he has been for over a thousand years.
The Slayera (or Slayers as the Vampyre call them) are becoming more of a threat.
Sathan although the Vampyre King, he longs for a quiet life for both himself and his people. His mating to the beautiful Lila, should be arranged and consummated by now, but something is holding him back.
He knows they need the Slayera’s blood, but there has to be compromise. He’s sick of constantly fighting both the slayers and the Deamons.

After capturing the Vampyre’s sister, Marinda bargains with Sathan to join with her in finding the mythical blade Pestilence, once she has the blade her captive will go free.
She needs the sword to destroy both Deamons and Vampyre. (Only she doesn’t tell Sathan that!)
Agreeing? An uneasy truce is formed. They set out to find the sword....

But there is a force in the background playing with lives. How did Arderin (Sathan’s sister) get captured? Is there a traitor in the Vampyre camp? Why are the Deamons becoming more of a threat?

The tension between Sathan and Marinda is definitely hostile, although Sathan is rather taken with the feisty female he’s accompanying across their lands, he can’t trust her.
And as animosity turns to passion, will they be able to get past their hate? Can they see past the centuries of bloodshed? And can Sathan forgive Miranda’s grandfather for killing his parents?

Very well written. Very fast paced, full of action.
Enough backstory (too much and you just get bogged down) and history concerning all the species that live on Etherya.

So what does the future hold for the Vampyre King and the Slayera Princess? Once she has her hands on the sword, will she wield it for good? Or finally will her people be free of the Vampyre shadow that’s hung over them since the beginning of time?

I really enjoyed that.
A symbiotic relationship between vampyre and Slayera to start with, the Vampyre as a protector of the Slayera, who in turn supply blood as payment. That’s how it was suppose to be, that’s how the goddess intended for her precious, peaceful, superior race was suppose to be (the Slayera) but after the awakening, that all changed! Now they are bitter enemies, sworn to destroy one another!
Marinda is a really good character, strong, fearless, and has her mothers compassion. She wants an end to this war without anymore bloodshed. And she wants the Deamons gone too.
Sathan has a dry wit, a quick mind and a thirst for knowledge. He’s cautious, and I like that. He’s also suspicious about the whole thing. He knows he can’t trust Marinda, but if he could, then maybe the war between them could end, and they could join forces to destroy Crimeous, the King of Deamons.
There are a few characters here, but they all seem to play a vital role.
I like the snippets of past that come from passages of both Slayera, Deamon and Vampyre sacred texts. Gives more of an insight.

So what happens next?
Will the sword be found? Who gets to wield it? (Ummmm there might be a clause in that!) Will we find out what happened to Marinda’s mother (I have a feeling, it is a pivotal moment)

Sorry your going to have to read it to find out.
Oh and can’t wait to read the next one.

🦋

AUDIO REVIEW ADDED 23/3/2022

I’ve read and loved these books, so when the audio option came out, I was there.
Devon Wilcox has such a soothing voice. The inflections, tones and excitement he uses to tell the story had me listening for too many times in the day 😝
The story is just amazing, it tells of two factions that are constantly at war with one another.
Until a vampyre and slayer are forced to work together.
The story is a fast paced action tale. The romance is steamy, and the banter between Miranda and Sathan has you chuckling, even more so when the story is told to you. Throw in Deamons and it’s the start of a great adventure and new series.

Thank you to Rebecca Hefner for allowing me to read a copy of this book. I loved this story. It gripped me by the neck with its fangs (all the puns intended) and had me wanting more and more. The story and the romance were just wonderfully written. And reading the prequel helped me imagine the world better while reading this. And the politics within this world is just so good and was one of the things that made me want more and more of this story. Definitely recommend this series for any fantasy romance and fantasy reader out there.

The End of Hatred is the first part in a series which takes the readers into a world created by goddess Etherya. This world consisted of four species namely, the Slayers, the Vampyres, the deamons and the humans. There was a time when the Slayers and the Vampyres used to live peacefully with each other, however, because of one instance their truce ended and the species were at war. Both Miranda and Sathan aspired to bring peace among their kinds and to end hatred. However, there were too many obstacles to overcome to achieve this goal and they fought valiantly to overcome those obstacles.

I loved how different yet so alike Miranda and Sathan were. Sathan was stable to Miranda's impulsive nature and the calm to her storm. Sathan had an aura about him that made him very intriguing and likable. He was authoritative when needed to be, level-headed and practical. Miranda was fearless, passionate and at times a little impulsive but that just added more character to her personality. She was strong and courageous and was willing to do anything for her people.

I loved how Miranda and Sathan's story developed both individually and as a couple. Sathan loved Miranda even though he was reluctant to admit it and it showed in their every encounter. I liked seeing how Miranda grew a lot as a person throughout the book and a large part of it was due to Sathan. Sathan was always there for her even when she lashed at him and of course him being sexy-as-sin made him more appealing. Both Miranda and Sathan had to go through some horrific tragedies to reach their goal but as they say life isn't always a bed of roses.

The supporting characters added charisma and intrigue to an already intriguing book. Heden and Arderin were adorable. Kenden was a warrior, strong and silent. I had my suspicions about Darkrip from the beginning which turned out to be true but I never would have guessed to motive behind it so kudos for keeping the readers hooked with that. The only thing I can say about Latimus and Lila is that I can't wait to read their book.

I think Rebecca Hefner has portrayed everything so clearly and beautifully that it actually feels like you are in Etherya's Earth which is a feat in itself. I am excited to read everyone else's stories and would definitely say this book is a MUST READ!

What an intense start to a new series!
I am going to open with saying I really enjoyed this read and at this point would definitely recommend the series.
The story line is engaging and detailed.
It was easy to follow what was happening and who was who even though the story line itself was complex, something I enjoy in my reads.

There were times however I felt the author was trying to put too many details into this opening episode. I think we met everyone who will be anyone and got tidbits of backgrounds and possible whys, but many times, not enough IMO to build a solid picture.

Miranda is the princess of the Slayers. She is a warrior in her own right. She wants peace among the species and she believes she is the one prophesied to bring it to fruition. At times her choices seemed to be swayed by her connection with her father who IMO stifled her quite a bit to his own gain (dad may be a few bricks short). Miranda has a pretty solid wall up between her and the world. I felt like only one other character knew the girl behind the princess. When fate seems to deliver the perfect pawn right at her feet she embarks on a quest to fulfill the prophecy.

Sathan is the King of the Vamps. For me, he was an easy character to like. Despite being the king he is pretty laid back ~ he doesn't put up with any bull but he is open-minded. When it came to his sister though he is a bit old fashioned (it could be he is just overprotective). He has been seeking peace among the species for decades. He has and will continue to do what is necessary for the survival of his people even if it is not the most peaceful solution.

He has a couple of younger brothers and a sister who make up this quartet of siblings ~ they definitely kept me entertained.

Just too much to sum up at this moment
I really enjoyed the world-building and the characters are well written making it easy to make an emotional connection with them.

I was provided an ARC of this series so I will be back with a complete series review.

This is a review of the audiobook version of End of Hatred by Rebecca Hefner. I’ll start by saying I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author and am writing a voluntary and unbiased review. I’m not going to describe the story or plot, there’s the blurb and other reviews for that. I mostly read crime, mysteries and thrillers but I like to break it up now and again with urban fantasy, sci-fi, high fantasy etc.

This was both a new author and a new narrator to me and I have to say I’m very impressed and am definitely a new fan. The world the author created is well described and quickly comes to life as the story progresses. The characters are well written with plenty of depth and whether good or evil it’s hard not to feel very involved with them. The storyline is easy to follow with plenty of excitement and thrills.

I loved the banter between the main characters which I found humourous and realistic with a good dose of sarcasm thrown in.

Readers of a sensitive nature should be aware of the strong language in places and the quite graphic bedroom/love scenes but these fit perfectly into the situation and are very well written and again, realistic rather than gratuitous, adding to the immersion into the story. I’m eager to see what happens next in the world of Etherya and how the other characters develop.

A poor narrator can ruin a great book while a good narrator often can’t save a poor story and I’ve found many a great book ruined by crappy narrators. I’d never heard of Devon Wilcox but I certainly hope he reads a lot more books. He has a rich and strong voice with loads of different character voices so that it was easy to tell who was talking just by how it was spoken, whether it be male or female. Perfectly suited to this story and likely almost any other book he reads. A real pleasure to listen to and a truly excellent performance.

This series is now right near the top of my Must Read list.

Fair warning, the book hangover with this one is real.

I wasn't ready to leave Etherya behind once I'd finished the book and, thankfully, I don't have to - Rebecca Hefner has other completed volumes in the series that I'm going to instantly pick up and you should too. What makes The End of Hatred a can't put down read? Several things:

The world of Etherya is grounded in some known elements like vampires, slayers and demonic creatures but, unlike many others who borrow these things and use them as mythological props, the author makes them wholly her own. From that jumping off point the author builds a complex world
with characters that are beholden to the past but striving together towards a better future. It's through those character that the story really shines. We experience the story through multiple perspectives, from Miranda, the feisty and whip-smart Slayer princess, to Sathan, the collected but passionate king of the Vampyres. Their relationship is electric and grows dynamically, leaving the reader hungry for each and every interaction between them. The other characters are also great and unique, with plenty of room to grow. The quality of the writing is also superb - I don't want to spoil anything, but way the author describes physicality in her writing is heart-pounding in the best way.

Fans of Tanya Huff, Mercedes Lackey and Patricia Briggs should definitely give The End of Hatred a go.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have more Etherya books to read.

Wow! I was really surprised by this book. The depth of the characters and the world they live in is outstanding. A unique world setting of old mixed with new. You almost forget the modern side of it with all the talk of castles and wars. A world made up of four main groups, Deamons, Slayers, Vampyres and humans all ruled by the goddess Etherya.

The title of this read matches the goal of this story perfectly. The princess of the Slayers, Miranda wants peace. She wants an age old war to end. She wants it to be the way it was before the Awakening. So when a Vampyre washes ashore on her lands, things set into motion that she is not sure she is strong enough to endure. With the help of an unlikely alley not only does she gain strength she finds love. But all this will come at a high cost.

This book is a steady paced read that I simply could not put down. I was up till 2 in the morning reading this intense read. This book has it all treason, secrets, love, power, danger and so much more. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I fell in love not only with the characters but the story. It is a highly addictive read. Think Black Dagger Brotherhood. wink wink.

Overall this book is exciting and a wonderful story. With great characters and intriguing world you are sure to loose yourself in the book. I highly recommend this for paranormal romance readers.

The author has a way with words and they read like poetry to me all throughout this book. I found myself taking my time letting the emotions she wrote take me. The world she built is beautiful with three immortal beings all at war with each other. The characters were even better and fell in love with them all.
Miranda was one of the most powerful warrior princesses I have ever read about. She was also emotional at time, ruthless in others, careless, stubborn, uncertain, compassionate and it made her more real than ever.
Sathan was a heart-melting character that drove me crazy with how patient he was with her. It suited him well with his backstory and so did her to that point. I will love to see him walk in the sun again and will have to finish this series most likely in order to see.
There are a few graphic details of violence in this story. The finger thing freaked me out a little in the beginning but when I found out what was behind it, it was heartwarming. To a Deamon at least I am sure.
One of the best things I like about this story is how the author made it impossible for the king of the Vampyre and the Princess of the Slayers could ever unite and be one. Finding their way through this maze of uncertain world of prophecies and legends, it will come to life and death before they can find there way.
