This book in the BABL series is the best yet and left me starving for more.
The previous installment ended on a simmer, with obvious action to come, the pot ready to boil over within a few more chapters. Irving does not disappoint. The true nature and intentions of several characters are revealed, and the plot thickens as the past and present collide in an epic way.
Irving's writing is skilled and effective, and her storyline is unique and full of surprises. I often figure out plot lines before they're revealed in books, but this series has thrown me for a loop- several times- and always keeps me guessing and leaves me wanting more. Written from several points of view, it's deliciously fun to watch bad guys fall into traps and other characters accept their (badass) true natures. The suspense is palpable. I hated to put it down.
When I turned the last page, I let out a happy, satisfied sigh. You will too.
Onward and upward! Bring on Volumes 7 and 8, please and thank you.

Ok wow this one went all kinds of places I was not expecting and I loved it!!!

Rose is still a strong character but she seems to lose herself. She is remembering more with the help of George. Who she didn’t know his connection to Virgil but when she does you see some Deidre there. When rose is angry her powers emerge in such force that you wonder if she will learn to control her emotions but you also like seeing her emerge as well. You are seeing the journey of Rose in this book. Her journey to finding out who she is and the path she takes. You see her be selfish as well but I think this is her way of holding onto to a thread of her life as it is and not wanting change to occur. She wants virgil but only on her terms and she can’t accept his fate and yet uses him at the same time. She can’t accept that sometimes things aren’t always going to be black and white. You see this hurts virgil as well but she doesn’t care. Over time and as Deidre begins to emerge you do see Rose begin to question her reasons for not being completely with Virgil and you see her waffling on things. Over time this changes and you do see Virgil and Rose become what they are meant to be. What that is not telling?
Bruce is an idiot. And I think he gets drunk with power towards the end and can’t separate that from reality. I felt bad for what happened to him but he shows some serious dark side at the end. I do wonder though if that is him or the influence of Tiny. Tiny wow no words she has left me dumbfounded.
Nathan even though he is on the wrong side and loves Bruce you can’t help but have your heart go out to him. He has lost so much in this battle that it tears at you. I do hope he gets some kind of peace and happiness in the end.
The story gives you Rose, Virgil and at times Bruce’s POV. You see the thoughts and changes in who they are becoming as more power emerges and more experiences come about. You see betrayals, twists and turns and more journeys occur. Rose’s is the biggest. You see the unraveling of some and learn more about their pasts and how they came to be where they are. Rose goes through so many transformative moments in this book and some have you shaking your head. The book will evoke many emotions and have them stay at the surface long after you finish.
this book is incredible in the complexity of the nature of the characters and how they become more dimensional. Even at times how it seems Deirdre is taking over and how you know Tiny has something else going on other than what we are being privy to. I look forward to seeing what is next and if deidre completely takes over and what happens to virgil now?. Will the monks punish him? I hope not. So many questions.Hope Irving’s writing is incredible and draws you in and just embraces you like an old friend.

Agh!!!! I loved this book the most. All the books leading up to this one were such a tease. I love it. Rose and Virgil were so star-crossed and at different points that I despaired of them finding their way to each other. Not wanting to spoil anything, but the events move along at a fast pace, and I was riveted to their story. A few curve balls thrown into the mix. I was blindsided by Tiny and all of Rose's powers and revelations. I cannot wait to find out what happens next. Truly.

What a great book. Such an imagination. Keeps you on your toes and interested so you don't want to put it down. Can't wait to read the next in the series. Highly recommend reading.
