Only a mighty cat would know that having nine lives or more isn’t a myth.

Myths are meant to be read about, not lived in. Myths are made of bottomless hopes and insane dreams that people create to insure that they’ll never be real. Myths are what helps believers move forward.

Well, believe me, there are plenty of myths that you should start to make your reality. Witchcraft. Spells. Warlocks. This was my reality, once upon a time.
Now that I’ve been trapped in a foreign body for centuries, I’ve learned to adjust my magic until I find the right people to express it... And I think I just did.
The many lives I’ve lived and the silent experience I’ve gained will pay off. At last.

Hope Irving is a USA Today and Amazon Top 15 Bestselling Author. She lives in Paris, France, and spent a couple of years in Texas, where she earned her MBA. With many friends, relatives, and readers in the States, the US has a big place in her heart. Although French is her mother tongue, she chose to write her novels in English because it simply feels right for her characters.
Hope’s suspenseful and complex love stories are modern fairytales. A natural introvert, she enjoys tormenting her flawed characters with a hint of darkness and sometimes magical elements. Still, her heart melts when love conquers all.
Her work has been described as “genre-defying,” “refreshingly unique,” and “an intriguing rollercoaster read.”

Each book builds upon the other and this one is no different. We are still reeling from the new twists in the last book. We have Paul meeting with Virgil, Tiny showing her witchy side. A cat that isn’t as he seems. Alliances in the unlikeliest of places occurring and Rose growing in her powers. She does lose control over herself and does some pretty not great things. I so hated her rift with Nathan. She was in the wrong and didn’t want to admit it. She wouldn’t even tell Virgil. Virgil has new gifts that are odd to say the least. I think that Rose’s decision to take back power changes Virgil. I think it is good and bad. He feels lost with his duties but he also now gains more perspective on things. He sees things in different views and lights.

We see Virgil and Rose go to the monks and have great loss occur. To me this shifts the whole aspect of things. Rose and Virgil mourn and Virgil takes things hard and does what he does and turns inward. Rose takes this as rejection and instead of having faith in their love and him runs. That seems to be her mo. She walks away from things when it gets tough. This changes the game alot. Rose gains more power and wants more control of things.

I felt for Virgil because he was devastated so much. He couldn’t deal at all and it took alot from Jade to get him going again. Jade is back and love her. Virgil is fighting for Rose but at a distance because Rose doesn’t really want him around. Well she does but doesn’t. She has shutdown in some ways. Nathan is finally taking control of his life again and because of what Virgil did Rose’s horrible mistake never happens. He sacrificed for her once again and ends up on the short end of the stick. I so feel for that man. He is always on the short end of the barrel when it comes to Rose and where they are going.

In this book, Tiny does play more of a role in showing us what is going on but so does Minos the cat. We gain his perspective on things and see where life is taking him. We see Paul and the Abayam and where they are going. Paul sees his organization going differently than how it has been. He doesn’t believe they should be as they are but not everyone has this view. Virgil is still my main love. He is steadfast in his beliefs and understanding. He is hurt by Rose so much and yet he stays true in his support and love of her. He doesn’t waver and stays the course even when it hurts him so much to do so.

Ugh... I thought a happy ever after was in the cards for this twisted destiny couple. I did not see the ending coming in this story. The shift of powers and the dynamic change with Virgil, Rose, and Nathan. Wow! Each book pulls you further in, and while you think, you know what is coming. You don't.

I read and reviewed a copy of this book.

Power means learning to control

Rose messed up and now she has to face the consequences. Her power is not always controlled and she risk losing everything. This book hurt my soul but it got put back together

Only one book to go, and I cannot wait to read more. There is still much left to do/resolve.

I read it 3x ( which I only do for a very small portion of favorites) and was amazed at what I missed on my earlier reads- there are hints, breadcrumbs, hidden Easter eggs throughout the book and series.

Take note: This book cannot be read alone. Do yourself a favor and read the earlier volumes books before this one. If you prefer a happily ever after ending in 200 pages, then Irvings's writing isn't for you. But if you want to go on an unforgettable ride where you'll swear that you must know the main characters and sometimes have dreams about them (guilty as charged), then this saga of a series is right up your alley.
