Royally Unexpected #1-3

Royally Unexpected: The Farcliff Kingdom Accidental Baby Trilogy

Rate this book
Meet three Princes unlike any you've met before... They're big, bad, and oh-so-good.

Book 1: Bad Prince

I’m pregnant.
The problem?
The father is going to be King, and I’m not exactly meant to be a Queen…

I’m only pretending to be someone else for one, measly little Royal Ball.
Just sneaking into the biggest event in the Kingdom for a few hours.

How did my best friend talk me into this again?

I could probably get arrested for trespassing on royal property, but as long as I don’t get caught, I’ll be fine.

...Until the Crown Prince finds me wandering around the castle unsupervised.

He’s tall, broad, and he slays me with one look.
The most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen.

The second his eyes meet mine, I know I’m in trouble.
Big, Prince-shaped Trouble with a capital ‘T’.

But Trouble feels too good to resist.
Trouble makes my cheeks burn when it whispers dirty things in my ear.
Trouble makes me feel like a woman for the first time in a long, long time.

And what happens at the castle stays at the castle…right?

Wrong.

As it turns out, Trouble has consequences. Those consequences have ten little fingers and ten little toes, and a mother who is completely unprepared.

Lucky for me, Trouble comes knocking down my door, demanding to know why I lied about my name...

Lilian Monroe lives in a luxurious jungle treehouse surrounded by lush greenery, with an army of scantily-clad men with rippling abdominal muscles ready to attend to her every need.

No, wait. That's not true.

Lilian Monroe spends her days dangling her feet into her pool, while a scantily-clad pool boy with rippling abdominal muscles feeds her chocolate-covered strawberries and massages her back.

Okay, okay. You got me. That's not true, either. Let's try again.

Lilian Monroe lives at home with her two children, three dogs, and twelve chickens. Her husband likes to work shirtless in the back yard. His sweaty, gleaming abdominal muscles ripple with every movement and he—

I'm sorry. I have to stop. Fine, I'll admit it. That one isn't true either.

How about this: Lilian Monroe loves thinking about men with rippling abdominal muscles serving her hand and foot, and she wants you to think about them too! She is an avid reader, writer, and lover of all things romance.

She loves everything from bad boys to billionaires. Her books are packed with sizzling-hot heat, action, suspense, and everything from second chances to single dads. She hates cheating and loves a good happily ever after (and rippling abs).

I really enjoyed this book but I think the pacing was off. There was a lot of angst but all the issues were solved within one chapter at the end of the book. It didn’t have much satisfaction in that regard and I think the first and last stories in the book had some plot holes (like what happened to Gabriel’s ex and the second book she talked about writing?). I wish there was more revenge/ I wish the antagonists suffered a bit more but that’s just my personal preference! 😅

This set contains three full-length novels regarding the royal princes of Faircliff, a fictional area between Canada and the United States. This review contains a summary of each novel.

Book I is Bad Prince. Charles is the oldest son of the Faircliff Royal family and for his 25th birthday, he had become engaged in order to take over the throne from his dad. Charles, or Charlie as his friends call him, is a natural playboy. He knows his status as a prince will get him any woman he wants, and he uses that to his advantage. Until he meets Elle, accidentally, and falls in love. Falling in love with the girl from the wrong side of town is not very royal-like.

Heartless Prince is book two in the series. It is the love story of Damon, the second royal prince, and Dahlia. Dahlia is Elle’s roommate and the mortal enemy of the royal family. Due to Dahlia’s mom’s verbal accusations of how Damon’s mother died, Dahlia’s family was exiled from Faircliff. Damon, the shyest of the royal brothers, does not expect to fall for Dahlia and she definitely does not expect to be spending time at the Royal Palace after being exiled. How will the lovebirds defy their family histories?

Cruel Prince is the last book in the boxset. Prince Gabriel is the youngest of the royal princes, however, he has had the hardest life. One bad relationship has left him physically and emotionally scarred. When Jolie walks into his life as the substitute gardener he does not know if he has room in his life for love. How can he move forward from his past to make a future with Jolie?

I enjoyed this series more than I expected. I usually do not care that much for unexpected pregnancy novels, but these were entertaining. The chemistry between the heroes and heroines was intense and interesting. I enjoyed how the author added some psychological complexity to the novels. The novels were written well, with a good pace and world-building. Each novel was a page-turner.

3.5 stars rounded up.

All three books are written in dual first person POV. Each has a good amount of sexy times and are fairly low angst.

First, the good... Each book is self contained in that it doesn’t give anything away about subsequent books and you don’t need to read any of the others in order for the current story to feel complete. There are only minor editing issues/typos.

Now, the not so good (mild spoilers)... Starting with book 1, the “pregnancy surprise” always occurs because of a lack of protection - it would have been nice if it was switched up a little, especially considering the princes all know the “scandal” that would occur. Princes 1 and 3 have too many “I’m a prince and you’re just a (insert word here to indicate a person of lower station)” thoughts. I understand their (justifiable) sense of entitlement but it gets old really fast. Book 2 mentions prince 3’s drinking but book 3 doesn’t give a backstory. Book 3 is probably the most unrealistic as someone attacks prince 3 with a knife (causing injury) and seemingly nothing happens to her and the prince is blamed.

3 stories of 3 prince brothers who live in the prosperous kingdom of Faircliff. First, these are not really surprise babies. When you have unprotected sex, the likelihood of a pregnancy is significantly higher than when you don't, which happens in all 3 stories.

Next, there is a darkness to all of these that makes this less romantic for me. However, they're nicely written. I enjoyed the elements of the fairy tales in each story.

Story one: Origins in Cinderella. Story of heir to the throne Charlie and Elle, the scholarship rower who is from the wrong side of the tracks who attends the ball pretending to be Dahlia. We learn that the King is not a good man. I didn't think Charlie was either.

Story 2: Origins in Sleeping Beauty. Story of Prince Damon and Dahlia, Elle's best friend and from a family that was formerly part of the royal court. Dahlia is raised by 3 aunts in the woods, Aunt Malerie subs in for Maleficent, we learn that Damon self harms because he felt guilty for serving his mother the tea that eventually killed her - so dark and sad. Dahlia, allergic to bees, is stung by a bee and is forced into a coma. A kiss does not wake her, but medical science does.

Story 3: Origins in Beauty and the Beast. Story of Prince Gabriel and Jolie. Fast Forward 10 years and the youngest prince has had his own issues with a psycho ex, a 6 yr old chronically ill daughter and PTSD/anger issues. Jo is a broke writer and agrees to tend the Rose Garden while her gardener father handles an illness. Gabe's issues are disturbing and she doesn't take him back until he has proven he can work on his issues.

My review is for book 1, Bad Prince. I'll update to add individual reviews on books 2 & 3 after I've finished them.

👠👗 A fun, modern take on Cinderella … with 🌶 spice.

I’ve read & watched my share of Cinderella retellings but this one manages to be different from them all. It’d likely be impossible to list all that this read packs into it but get some down for you!

👑 Royalty (some of which is reluctant!).
👑 Bullies / mean girls.
👑 College life / academy feel. Takes place on campus.
👑 Down-to-earth, hard-working heroine.
👑 Down-to-earth prince/hero.
👑 Family drama / father-villain.
👑 Sports / athletes (heroine included!).
👑 Fairy-tale style love at first sight, even if the MCs don’t realize it right away.

Will read on in this series, very cute, fun, lighthearted read.

4 stars.

The collection is of fairly standard fairytales - Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty & The Beast - in a modernized setting featuring a fictional
kingdom that sounds a bit like Canada and more explicit sex than anything else. It was an unfortunate choice that of all the elements the author decided to play with, they decided not to have any of the characters get to know one another before, during, or after embarking on their respective sexcapades. The AU, plot, and characters are more anemic and thinly drawn than Ella Enchanted, Ever After, or any tweenage straight-to-video Disney movies.

The entirety of each relationship can be synthesized down to a single paragraph in each book.

An amazing collection of three amazing well written standalones in one convenient location. These Royal brothers each have entertaining and engaging storylines that are each a different rollercoaster of emotions, complications, heartache, drama, some laughter, anger, and misunderstandings with strong undeniable attraction and love that I am so glad got to read and not of missed out on. The characters are interesting, relatable, and full of steamy hot passion. I voluntarily read and reviewed this collection but had previously purchased and reviewed individually.

Book one I mostly enjoyed. Charlie, the prince, was a little bit dumb but he was love able. Book two Damon was ok. Book three is where my problem lies. The prince was an anger management nightmare. I liked the story but the daughters illness seemed mostly a way to explain why the prince stayed in the country. I really hate when whatever the angst of the book is leads to a long separation of the main characters. I hate when that long separation is ended in a single chapter. I might read more of these, but not right now.

This set of book brings us "Bad Prince", "Heartless Prince", and "Cruel Prince". These books all feature pregnancies that are totally shocking. All of the Princes' have cold hearts until they meet the women of their dreams, and then they becomes marshmellows! This is an excellent set of books, and I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

Ok

It seemed the brothers stories were to simular, they all had anger issues even though I never stood Gabriel anger as much, I mean after his ex ok and her taking a band book back to the castle, should had read that when she was with her parents. Anyway great writing style will try maybe a stand alone next time

Loved the relationship between Elle and Charlie. I didn’t read the others books in the collection because I was a little frustrated at how quickly the story resolved itself. I felt there was a lot of opportunity to build out more of the plot and offer more character development.

Having said that. It’s a great quick he easy read. Would recommend if you’re not looking for anything complex.

Fun read

A decidedly adult only version of Cinderella, and two other small town girl meets prince , all modernized to fit into present day and in a fictional country between USA and Canada. What fun.

An HEA with Some Substance

Enjoyable quick read. The issues the couple deals with to get to their happily ever after are much more significant than most books. Even royal families are not always perfect, thus making it a much better and more enjoyable read.

lovely and quick

Typically I don’t go for fairy tales reimagined but I read a chapter in boredom and ended up binging the trilogy! This was so good, I love how the stories were both far fetched but also believable. And smoking hot to boot!

interesting

The stories were good but not great. I feel like they were following a plot device and had unnecessary angst. The angst, reason for the issues were thin after story one. The books scored a high three but since it wasn’t an option it got the 4 stars

A must read

I could not put the book down. Though each story is repetitive, it is unique. Each character has their own personality, but I recommend giving it a read!

This series is very well written. While the plots are all similar they are also different. I didn't find myself getting bored with the story line at all.
