At a remote archaeological site in Guatemala, archaeologists discover a mysterious artifact hidden under a giant Mayan pyramid. There’s only one problem; it doesn’t belong there. So who made it, and where did it come from?
It will be up to theoretical physicist Hans Verlink and his brilliant graduate student, Katrien De Vries from Waking Iceman, to devise an elaborate experiment to unravel the mystery. But when their investigation takes an unexpected turn, they are sent on a perilous journey to another world where they become trapped and must find a way back home.
Anti-Paradox picks up where C.R. Wahl’s Waking Iceman left off, sending the reader on a non-stop techno-thriller ride through the jungles of Guatemala to Amsterdam and beyond to another dimension.
C. R. Wahl (Pen name) lives in Minnesota and makes a habit of not becoming bored. With a PhD in physics, C R knows his way around a lab. He’s published papers in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from quantum gauge anomalies to neural networks and has over 35 patents in six different fields.
CR has a fondness for out-of-the-way places and the untraveled road. Many of the scenes in Waking Iceman were derived from firsthand experiences: Ancient ruins in South America, steamy Brazilian rain forests, coral blue South Pacific islands, and high-altitude mountains.
He’s hiked across countries and climbed peaks from Africa to the Andes, and all places in between. Provided there’s not a world shortage of coffee, C R plans to continue working on his next novel...Stay tuned!
C. R. Wahl has a Ph.D. in physics and has published papers in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from quantum gauge anomalies to neural networks. His second book called Anti-Paradox has a lot of relating terms when it comes to quantum anomalies. Located in Guatemala, in a remote place theoretical physicist Hans Verlink's student, Katrien De Vries is investigating/analyzing a mysterious artifact that is not meant to be there. When the investigation takes a strange course, they are sent to another world and must find their way back. This thriller was quite solid. I enjoyed the development of the characters and the plot overall was very good. It reminded me of Stranger Things a little bit. I do feel there were parts that had a lot of information regarding science fiction so you have to pay extra attention to fully understand. It is a strong novel and a very good one for sci-fi lovers!
Anti-Paradox by C R Wahl is an adventurous techno-thriller ride which is filled with wonders of another dimensional world. Within an archaeological site of Guatemala, a Mysterious artifact is discovered beneath a Mayan pyramid. Physicist Hans Verlink and his brilliant graduate student, Katrien De Vries is tasked with mission to unravel the mystery. What ensued is an unexpected turn which lands both through a dangerous journey to another world and they get trapped. The story brilliantly weaves through their adventure back home.
I thoroughly enjoyed this sci-fi novel; it has everything to keep your attention glued till the end. The mystery is great, and the characters are well developed which makes the story more interesting. I adored the chemistry between Hans and Katrie. The author’s narrative style is mesmerizing and clear. I highly recommend this not only for sci-fi lovers but also to anyone as it's entertaining, fun, and exciting.
A great continuation of a story thread that started in “Waking Iceman”. Discovering a dual quantum world, really a parallel universe, Professor Verlink and grad student Katrina Devries were testing access to it when several Russian mobsters cause an accident that sends them all to another world. It seems a lot like Earth with buildings and machines all around but no people. Initially, basic survival is a challenge for everyone, some fare better than others. Some serious questions need to be answered, like, what happened to everyone?Does the danger still exist? How can they get home? The writing is well done, with minimal editing errors. The author does better with the antagonists in this book compared to the previous one, giving them at least more personality than crazed black-ops agents. The story ties up pretty well, although I think there is thread or two that will lead into the next story.
Anti-Paradox is the second novel by science fiction writer C.R. Wahl, following Waking Iceman. Wahl reintroduces his character Hans Verlink, a theoretical physicist, alongside his assistant Katrien. We are treated to suspense and mystery first in the jungles of Guatemala on an archaeological dig. However, rather than uncovering lost civilizations’ bones and bowls, those working on the El Zotz excavation site find something obviously intentionally kept hidden. When Hans and Katrien are called in to investigate, they are once again left wading through the fallout of being the front line against the unknown and odd. The mixture of sci-fi details and mystery were intriguing. The plot works really well for what the author is trying to pull off. I like the characters and dialogue a lot as well.
“Anti-Paradox” by C R Wahl is an amazing techno-thriller story with diverting plot twists that will take you through a roller coaster of emotions and feelings. I loved this book because I’m personally very interested in archaeology and maya culture, but this is definitely a book for anyone wanting to feel some adrenaline and action. A mysterious something is hidden underneath an ancient maya pyramid but nobody knows where it came from or how to handle it. A physicist and his graduate student will try to get to the gist of the mystery. But this ends up becoming more complicated than expected. I can tell you from my own experience that this book will not disappoint you!
A new adventure to be sought after. I see the book as a reference to Indiana Jones and Journey to the center of the earth theme, but just a little more complicated. Just because of the archaeological parts of it and a combination of a scientist and his assistant kind of duo. It was a great combination of entertaining themes, archaeology (people like uncovering the past) and science ( how things work), and just pure adventure. I see that I have missed the first book so I think it would be best for me to read it so that I would enjoy this book more. But all in all, a great book I might re-read after I read the first one! Great characters and story plot!
“Anti-Paradox” by C.R. Wahl is a creative and imaginative tale that wil have the readers turning the pages from beginning to end. Archaeologists discover a mysterious artifact hidden beneath a massive Mayan pyramid at a remote archaeological site in Guatemala. The only problem is that it does not belong there. Hans Verlink, a theoretical physicist, and his brilliant graduate student Katrien De Vries will be in charge of devising an elaborate experiment to solve the mystery.
There's a lot of imagery in the writing style, which makes you feel like you're right there in the story, which is nice. The characters are interesting and well-developed. So, if you’re looking for an oddly relatable extraordinary techno thriller, this is the book for you.
With the first sentence of the story, my imagination went wild. We found something a character said. I wanted to know more about the characters in the story Anti- Paradoxical written by CR. Wahl. This story embraces finding, discovering and searching! The story begins with the discovery of a new tunnel. Where will the tunnel lead? I love stories that go on adventures. Like the closet in Narnia, the discoveries that will be made through the course of this story. There are those who love adventures, others may not find this story intriguing! I hope everyone will keep an open mind and enjoy the adventure!
“Anti-Paradox” is a science fiction and adventure novel that contains a very interesting story. A well-known archaeologist and his assistant discover a strange artifact while they are working inside a Mayan pyramid. It is an object that it is clear that doesn’t belong to that place and they cannot explain how it got there or where it came from. From this point, they get on a thrilling adventure as they try to unveil the mystery. The story gets more and more interesting as the characters progress in their discoveries. I loved this story; it is very well written. I especially enjoyed the description of the settings. I recommend it to all those who like a good adventure and action book.
At a remote archaeological site in Guatemala, archaeologists discover a mysterious artifact hidden under a giant Mayan pyramid which does not belong there and some things need to be figured out. This is the event that starts a compelling fictional story written by C.R. Wahl and the sequences of events that follow it are unexpected, but perfectly woven together. The plot is exciting and full of action and adventure. The book provides a lot of insights into the theme of archeology and the characters have received some good-quality development here. I speak both English and Spanish and I must confess I have enjoyed the fact that Spanish words and background is included here. Loved it!
This is a quite complex but fascinating book addressed to young readers, however I’m an adult and I absolutely enjoyed it. The writing is also extraordinary. The author has a great and innate talent to develop fantastic stories. This one in particular is based on a strange artifact founded under a Mayan pyramid. Hans Verlink, the physicist, and his student, Katrien De Vries, must find out what it is and where it came from. It all seems like a simple and quick task, but is it? Set in the Guatemala’s jungles and in the middle of Amsterdam, this science fiction has lots of surprises and unexpected turns. I highly recommend this piece. It’s excellent for killing time.
Anti-Paradox by C R Wahl is the sequel of Waking Iceman book, from the same author, and it takes this hard science fiction adventure from the jungles of Guatemala to Amsterdam, and of course, into a different dimension.
This techno-thriller plot is exciting, gripping and action-packed. Once I started, I didn't want to stop reading it. I wanted to know what happens next. Each chapter brings to a fitting end that urged me on to the next for more. It really caught my attention from beginning to end.
This is the first book I read from this author but it will certainly not be the last; I enjoyed his writing style very much as it is different from other science fiction writers.
"Anti-Paradox" is a techno-thriller full of adventures and unexpected twists written by C R Wahl. While a group of archaeologists were investigating, they found an extremely interesting artifact in Guatemala, but this artifact did not belong to that place. How did it get there? Did someone put it there?
Hans Verlink and his student, Katrien De Vries of Waking Iceman are responsible for unraveling this mystery. But not everything is so easy, new things will arise and everything will change.
I really think this book is a 5 star, the plot is super original and fresh. The characters are exceptional and the descriptions of the scenes are super detailed.
An engaging novel. I loved it This is a story of a mysterious finding that caught my attention from the very beginning. “Anti-Paradox” is the name of the novel written by C R Wahl, and it's really engaging. It is set in a remote part of Guatemala where some archaeologists come across an odd artifact. The problem arises when they realize that it wasn't from that spot and they must find out who put it there. Well, suspense and secrets are part of this novel. It has a great plot with turns and twists that will surprise readers many times. In fact, it happened to me and I highly recommend it for lovers of this type of writing.
“Anti-Paradox” by C. R. Wahl is a science fiction book in which technology plays an important role. In order to follow this story, it is necessary to read the previous titles from the author.
What I like the most about this fiction is how everything fits together. Every clue leads to a revelation, every situation is connected, and for this reason I consider Wahl does a great job and he is excellent in making readers pay attention to details. Despite its length - the fiction goes for around four hundred pages - I believe the story is worth reading and for this reason I give it four stars.
At first, this book seemed to be based only on an artifact piece found in the Mayan Pyramid and the journey to find more information about it. Although it follows that road, it gets a little blurry when suddenly strange things happen. Physicist Verlink and his student De Vries are in charge of this very unlike work. Their jobs could be more than just investigations.
This is a good book that mixes suspense with sci-fi and, at the same time, it has some relatable moments. The narrator feels like the author is taking the reader with the characters on this scandalous ride.
Overall, "Anti-Paradox" is a great read to those who enjoy a unique sci-fi story.
When a mysterious artifact is found under a Mayan temple in guatemala, physicist Hans and his asst Katrien are assigned to investigate the object. When it activates and throws them into a different world, they will have to change their mission from investigating to survival and a search for a way home. This sci fi thriller was exciting and fun. I didn't read the first book but didnt feel like I missed anything. Very well written and developed characters and worlds.
I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down and ended up reading it rather quickly. It was extremely unique and set in a parallel universe with characters I quickly grew to love. I'm actually going to look for more books by this author because I am intrigued.
A wonderful follow-up to Waking Iceman, sending the reader on a non-stop techno-thriller ride through the jungles of Guatemala to Amsterdam and another dimension where two physicists have to find a way back home.
This is an amateur work of science fiction by a physicist whose expertise is apparently in turbulent flow, not fiction. The characters are pasteboard, their dialogue pedestrian.
It was entertaining, in general terms I liked and enjoyed it, I believe the ending was rushed and got the sense of wanting toa better closure. I believed there was more to offer around the Entity and HAST4. It was OK
At first I thought this book would be an archaeological mystery, but it soon developed into full-on Sci-Fi. The world building was well done, but the plot left a little to be desired. At times I felt like the author ran out of ideas and kept rehashing the same cycle of one side then the other getting the upper hand. An entertaining read.
I read the preceding and succeeding books. They were good, and I read this one to “fill in blanks” in the narrative. Unfortunately, the plot in this book wandered, and so did my attention. I finished it by speed reading (as opposed to normal leisurely reading).
I wished the book was a lot shorter; not a good thing for a recreational read.
