Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves of London takes the charm of the first, holds it close, and adds a tiny touch of preteen rebellion, and challenges of new spaces and new friends.

Just for kids. Even the big ones!

Cannot wait for the next chapter!

Simone LaFray is a genius spy, an enormous talent and a tough little customer . . . all rolled up into a tender-hearted and unbelievably believable 12-year-old girl.
In reading the second young adult spy novel by S.P. O’Farrell, I particularly noticed two things: the author has created a beautifully developed main character and is truly a master at pacing his work.
Simone, the Parisian child of a spy and a chocolatier, must attend school in London to search for a missing girl and an object of international interest. There, she creates friendships that challenge her and change her, even as she worries about her mother and supports her father’s new patisserie location. There is love here, amid the tensions.
I will say little about the Red Wolves themselves in this review for fear of spoiling the really fascinating and brilliant creation of this coterie. Let’s just say the Wolves were not what I expected, but far better than I’d even hoped; and they provide remarkable insights that surprised me, even as a former little girl.
Dangers lurk around every corner, yet even these are unexpected in form and style. They are not all physical dangers by any means, but also those that arise in every meaningful relationship.
Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves of London is, in my view, even better than the first in the series, Simone LaFray and the Chocolatiers’ Ball. Clever. Touching. Complex sans confusion. Well-plotted and, again, magnificently paced. The rhythm of the thing will pull you effortlessly and breathlessly through, even as the well-rounded characters grow and change, imperfectly perfect as they are.
C’est un triomphe, Monsieur O’Farrell.

After having read the first book in this series, I've been waiting for this release. Whilst the books are aimed at younger readers, they're also perfect for older ones. Everything that will enrapture a child's imagination will do just that to an adult's, too! The mystery at the heart of Simone LaFray will keep even the adults guessing! The writing is simply wonderful - ranging from beautiful descriptions of confectionary to building suspense as Simone goes about her latest spy mission. With every day life and friendships mixed in, the story is a real page turner. I'm already anticipating the release of the third book!

What do London, chocolate, espionage, chandelier, a watch, Maestro, “La Volpe Rossa”, wolf pack, and a key have in common? You will have to read this magnificent book to find out!

Move over, Nancy Drew - Simone LaFray is coming! I eagerly anticipated the release of this sequel, Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves of London. Author S.P. O’Farrell has exceeded all expectations with this literary masterpiece!

Dive into this delightful journey encapsulated by vibrant words, a witty narrative, and an atmospheric radiance. This phrase totally resonated with me throughout the story. Such an important message as we begin the new year.

“Don’t be afraid of change, Simone. Change happens—but the strong are ready.”

If you love reading middle-grade mystery novels with a strong, young female heroine, unraveling clues and secrets, these books are for you and the entire family! A highly recommended charming read for 2022; I dare you to put the book down!"

What a fantastic sequel to Simone LaFray and the Chocolatier's Ball!

We join the intrepid young polymath Simone as LaFray's patisserie is expanding, as are the challenges facing the young lady.

What follows is a thoroughly enjoyable adventure which takes place in London. Between the titular 'Red Wolves' literally painting the town red and 'The Maestro' and his dastardly machinations, there is never a dull moment. Throw in new friendships for Simone as well as troubled waters with old friends, and a few very clever twists and developments, and you have the recipe for an outstanding read!

Will be enjoyed by younger and older readers. A real treat.

What a grand slam of a sequel. This series deserves an army of an audience, and I have no doubt that Simone LaFray will be Disney’s next big thing. It has massive crossover appeal for audiences of all ages with threads of Madeleine, Nancy Drew, Sherlock Holmes, and James Bond.

Simone LaFray is a contemporary classic. In THE RED WOLVES OF LONDON, Simone travels from Paris to London and enrolls in a British boarding school. Cyberattacks plague London, unknown artists graffiti the city with copies of famous paintings, and the Fox weaves a tangled web. As a junior spy, Simone must use her brilliant and beautiful mind, along with her astute attention to detail, to solve her mission. She is particular and passionate, specific and precise, yet caring and protective above all. Family comes first, and they elevate each other as Simone searches for clues while her father opens a new bakery in London.

We meet new, wonderful characters and reunite with returning legends—all hail the V! Book 2 expands the scale and raises the stakes with plenty of intrigue, mystery, suspense, action, and adventure (plus wicked cool spy gadgets). It’s hugely entertaining and cinematic—Pixar, where are you?! Whereas the first book incorporated music, the second book includes art, and I love the added cultural layers added by these elements.

Throughout this book, Simone grows as a spy and as a person, gaining confidence and embracing herself. My absolute favorite part of this series is the treatment of Simone’s neurodivergence. Her differences make her stronger, and intelligence is her superpower. It is so refreshing to have such stellar and authentic representation. As the parent of an autistic child, I am beyond thrilled that I can point at Simone and say to my daughter, “That can be you. You can do that.” Simone is truly a superhero and a role model. Many will find a friend in her.

All in all, this series is extraordinary. O’Farrell has the rare and remarkable talent of relating to all ages across all boundaries. This author is one to watch.

DISCLAIMER: May crave chocolate after reading.

Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves of London is a worthy successor to the first book in this series, Simone LaFray and the Chocolatier’s Ball. In Red Wolves, Simone and her friend V attend boarding school in London for a few months. The official reason for this move is because Monsieur LaFray is opening another store in London; however, Simone has a mission! Her mentor’s daughter has disappeared, and Simone has been tasked with finding her. The spy elements of this book are exciting and twisty. I didn’t see a few of the surprises coming, which is awesome.

I also enjoyed Simone’s character development. She has plenty on her plate: the mission, a snobby prefect, and new friends that like to flout the boarding school’s rules. Simone experiences the typical range of emotions that kids her age do, but she is also an admirable person who stands up for people. She doesn’t let success go to her head. She appreciates the important things in life. I’m in my early 40s, and I loved this book.

Ah, Simone. How I've missed you and your quirks. Book 1 was outstanding. Book 2 is even more exciting, more fun, and more delightful.

This time we follow Simone from Paris to London, where her father is opening a new LaFray's Patisserie, just as a junior spy goes missing. Simone is on the case, tracking clues, making new friends, and sharing secrets with the V.

A little older now, Simone is more brilliant than ever. It's the relationship/real life scenarios that are a mystery to her. And with so much going on in every aspect of her life, this new story will keep you in suspense until the last page.

This story was masterfully crafted and beautifully written! One for readers of all ages!

Simone La Fray and the Red Wolves of London takes the excitement and mysterious from book one and adds a solid punch of adolescent change and social adaptation. Gone is the girl who so easily slipped into the shadows as she's forced into the limelight (to no delight of her own). But she's growing, and with that taking on more risks—including a high stakes spy mission to London. Not to worry, though, the V will be coming along for the ride. ;)

Mystery and friendship abounds in the exciting middle grade romp!

My tween girls adored the first Simone book and were counting down the days until the release of the second one. Since it was available on Kindle Unlimited, I downloaded it the moment it came out, and all three of the girls dropped everyone else they were doing to inhale it! I had other duties and couldn't catch up with them until yesterday and today, but I enjoyed it, as well.

Though the vocabulary and syntax are definitely more challenging than your run-of-the-mill middle grade fiction, my nine year old still found it quite accessible. I had to spend the first couple of chapters suspending my disbelief that Simone could be so talented in so many ways, as one always must with child savant spies, but then I comfortably settled in to this charming tale, full of middle-grade level adventure and all the things that my kids enjoy in this genre--on top of the chocolate shop and Parisian characters, we have some adorable new spies and classmates, an English boarding school (it only needed that!), and fine art. As an adoptive family, we also appreciated more time with the fabulous V, the kind of best friend every girl wants, and sympathized with her questions about her own adoption.

Here's hoping for a long series of adventures with Simone and company! We're recommending the first two books to all our friends!

Simone, a junior spy, goes to London with her father, a famous chocolatier. She is going to look for a girl named Claire who was kidnapped. When she was kidnapped, Claire was carrying and protecting a device, the OmniKey. The OmniKey is a device that can open any computer or unlock any server. Simone must find it and Claire before the Maestro steals it back. Will Simone find Claire and the OmniKey? Is everything as it seems? Find out in this spy mystery novel, Simone and the Red Wolves of London.

Opinion:
Simone and the Red Wolves of London is a captivating novel, which is a quick read. The writing created vivid pictures in my mind. Simone’s character is a loving, loyal, and kind heroine. The author made it easy to care about her. The action is fun and adventurous. The author slips in important details. I like the awesome twists in the book especially in the ending. This cliffhanger leaves readers wanting more. I recommend this five star book for anyone 12 and up. I can’t wait for more adventures!

Fantastic Fox-Tale Filled with Twists!

This was a supreme second helping of Simone LaFray! Brilliant, ever twisting tale with an authentic London as the backdrop. Typical S.P O’Farrell, movie style twist at the end too - which hopefully means more to come from the great new characters introduced in this outing. A fantastic read for children and adults to indulge in at story time. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Simone LaFray will make a great TV series.

Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves of London, by S. P. O’Farrell, is the second book of the Simone LaFray Mysteries. Simone is a twelve-year-old spy for the French Ministry. After finding fame at the Chocolatiers’ Ball, Simone tries to fade into the shadows. But while she is attending school, a mission comes up. She goes undercover in London to find a missing junior spy, the OmniKey and gets entangled with the notorious Red Wolves. Among doing schoolwork, she questions her loyalty and helps her father open a second patisserie shop in London. Add in that the most popular boy in school has noticed her, and Simone has a lot to contend with.

As the second book in the series, the story stands independently. O’Farrell excellently wove enough information from the first book into this one to help readers understand the world and the backstory. Like other children’s series, this one has links to previous books and hints at new books, but each book is its own complete story that can be enjoyed.

I like that Simone is the awkward neurodivergent girl who is suddenly thrust into being famous. In order to find out the information she needs to find the missing spy, she has to socialize with people she normally would not. While uncomfortable she finds a way to get through the situations, showing courage and growth along the way. Twelve is a challenging age to find yourself and deal with middle school. She goes through the normal ups and downs of any twelve-year-old, including homesickness. Being a spy makes this even more challenging as she has more secrets to keep than normal kids her age.

Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves of London is a middle-grade mystery that is well-written and entertaining. Staying true to a twelve-year-old’s life while adding in the mystery of the missing junior spy will make this an entertaining book and a favorite for children.

Watch out Nancy Drew, we have a new sleuth solving agent to help us now. Traveling the streets of London with Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves was a pleasure taking, sight-seeing tour through all of London. The elegant description of buildings, streets and the all around atmosphere were so visionary explained, at times leading the reader into a vortex of energy in Simone LaFray's story. A missing agent, a lost key and just who are the Red Wolves of London? This book is filled with page-turning adventures, spectacular suspense and is perfectly plotted.

No matter your age, this is a great read and one I see as the next Saturday morning cartoon or maybe a television series. I look forward to traveling to more countries through the Simone LaFray books and I can't wait for her next adventure, err, I mean assignment. A well-deserved five stars

This book takes readers on a captivating journey through a world of mystery and intrigue that is both fun and entertaining. Young readers will absolutely love it!

Simone LaFray, the fearless protagonist, leads readers through the bustling streets of London on a mission that keeps them guessing at every turn. The pacing is brisk, ensuring the story maintains its momentum, and the imaginative world-building adds an extra layer of excitement.

The plot is engaging, and Simone's charisma and determination carry the story forward, making it an enjoyable read for those who appreciate a strong, independent heroine.

This was a delightful escape into a world where danger and discovery go hand in hand. Kudos to the author for creating a tale that sparks the imagination and leaves readers eagerly anticipating Simone's next adventure. 🕵️‍♀️📚

Another winner

The second book in this series did not disappoint. Simone is a 12 year-old French spy. She lives with her mom and dad, and a little sister in Paris. Simone is special - she can map out any room or arena she's in, she has great memory, and she has spy abilities beyond even adult spies. From Paris to London and a boarding school not to mention a new store opening with the queen making an appearance. Spying while at school, and when not in school, leaves little time to study for school, not that she needs it with her photographic memory. Fast paced and perfect for middle school readers on up to age 110. Five stars.

Simone Lefray is the secret-agent every MG mystery-lover should know! In this spectacular sequel, the stakes are higher as Simone is sent to a prestigious London school on a top-secret mission to find the coveted OmniKey and uncover information on the whereabouts of a missing student. We not only witness the extraordinary array of Simone’s secret-agent sleuthing capabilities, but we also see a relatable side to the young teen as she flounders when forced out of her comfort zone and into the spotlight. Family and friendships are a real focus in this coming-of-age story where Simone blunders her way through some situations and shines in others. O’Farrell’s writing style is sophisticated, witty, charming, and like every great mystery series, this story wraps up with just enough loose ends that the reader will be waiting in anticipation for Simone's next great performance. An endearing and fantastic upper MG mystery!

A fun junior spy romp

In this sequel, the 12-year-old Parisienne, spy, and opera singer (Simone) is sent under cover to an exclusive boarding school in England. Her task: find a key that unlocks all computer systems or the world is doomed.

At the last moment, her best friend, “the V,” joins her on the escapade, though she does not know about the mission.

This book has the drama created by girls on the cusp of becoming teenagers, a mystery to be solved, and very bad guys who will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Highly recommend.

The second installment in the Simone LaFray Mysteries is nothing short of brilliant. I didn’t think S.P. O’Farrell could top the first book, but I was delightfully mistaken. Simone remains as enchanting as ever, but this time we see her in a new light, grappling with school rivalries, shifting loyalties, and profound questions about her own identity. The plot moves at a thrilling pace, full of jaw-dropping twists that kept me hooked from start to finish. Her friendship with the wonderfully chaotic V is a highlight ... authentic, endearing, and unforgettable. I was completely immersed from the very first page, and I absolutely cannot wait to read book three!

I really wasn't sure about this book when I started reading it, but by the end I was definitely a fan of Simone and her particular narrative voice. I especially loved the architectural descriptions. Simone is a gifted, brilliant young spy, but she has social anxieties and wants to avoid too much attention. For this mission, she has to work hard to overcome her anxieties to befriend students at her new school in order to find a missing classmate.

This book was gifted to me by the author for an honest ARC review. The blurb I submitted is below:

Simone LaFray is a sweet, sharp spy on her new assignment in London. Accompanied by her best friend who knows nothing of her secret mission, Simone does not disappoint in her sequel! With smart dialogue, a scrumptious plot, and plenty of sugary treats, this book is a mystery that will leave you wanting at least one more nibble in the end. Bon appetit!

When does a YA novel keep an adult audience riveted? When S. P. O'Farrell writes it, of course! A big fan of his first book, Simone LaFray and the Chocolatier's Ball, I eagerly awaited the second book of the Simone LaFray mysteries. The Red Wolves of London did not disappoint! The very first chapter captured me and never let me go. O'Farrell's descriptive writing places the reader in the center of London, in an exclusive boarding school. Images of ancient traditions and prestigious academia are the canvas upon which O'Farrell paints his highly entertaining novel. Simone's adolescent angst mingles with themes of friendship and trust. I'm a big fan of witnessing a character's personal growth. While adeptly searching for clues to solve the case of a missing friend, Simone discovers more about who she is. Always a rule follower, she is confronted with an adventure well beyond her comfort zone. Her newfound friends help her navigate the cognitive dissonance of breaking the rules for a just cause. Again and again, O'Farrell leads us through unexpected twists and turns in the plot. When the reader finds their way to the resolution of Simone's mission, they are left yearning for more. Bravo, Mr. O'Farrell! You've done it again. Don't miss Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves of London!

A brilliant, must-read sequel to Simone LaFray and the Chocolatiers' Ball!

Sometimes I'm a fan of sequels but many times, I'm disappointed because they fail to capture the energy and ingenuity of the original. Simone LaFray and the Red Wolves of London is the exception because it takes all the qualities of the first book and builds on them. It sets the bar high for sequels!

Expertly plotted with an intriguing mystery, this second book in the series immediately pulls us into Simone's spy world where the stakes have gotten even higher. A young spy has gone missing, and Simone must enroll in a prestigious, private school in London to uncover the disappearance and a valuable, stolen item.

And how can we not adore the new challenges Simone must face away from her family as she comes into contact with new potential friends? Simone's personal growth is at the core of this book. With themes of independence, friendship, family, and duty, this is a fantastic story which middle grade readers are sure to relate and enjoy.

A fantastic read that puts us in the heart of London with loads of surprises, you won't want to miss out on S.P. O'Farrell's second Simone LaFray adventure!

A howling good read

Peer pressure, drama, suspense, art, and chocolate. This book has it all as Simone works through another mystery. Will she forsake her long friendship with the V to remain the person she is? I loved the chandelier scene! Hoping a book 3 is in the works.

My girls and I are hooked on the Simone LaFray Mysteries Series. Already fans of the book's young detective after reading the Chocolatiers' Ball, we were excited to dive into this second instalment. It did not disappoint.

I loved how the Red Wolves of London picked up where the first book ended, but rapidly heightened the intrigue and danger into an alluring mystery with even greater stakes. The new setting of London, England was familiar to me, which added an extra layer of enjoyment.

My girls thoroughly enjoyed the school dynamics and the new characters and adventures it precipitated. I loved that we saw even more of the V, one of my favourite supporting characters in the first book. I also enjoyed meeting the faculty members and students. It was a colourful cast with some names I recognized.

Simone is as quirky as ever in this story, but she also demonstrates more spontaneity and bravery. It felt like she was embarking on a journey towards maturation with some pre-YA conflicts factoring into her daily life now. I admired how her courage and quick thinking helped get her out of a tight spot more than once, and she proved willing to help a friend in need. For all of these qualities, Simone is endearing. I love sharing her with my daughters as they go through similar experiences.

A thank you to the author for crafting a page-turning story that is wholesome and captivating. If you have independent, middle-grade readers, this book is suitable for them to read alone, or with the whole family.

Can't wait for the third in the series so I can see how the overarching themes and conflicts unfold.

Amazing ! After Chocolatier's Ball I wondered what would author S P O' Farrell do to take the story to the next level. I must say he doesn't disappoint. The Red Wolves of London is fast, exciting, with some amazing plot twists and it builds on the story in book I beautifully. While book I was a poignant spy story that focused a lot on Simone's relationship with her father, book II brings the rapport between mother and daughter which I missed in BOOK I into the spotlight. The nuances of their relationship are beautifully managed by the author. There is so much going on in this book - the Red Wolves, the Maestro, a missing girl, a piece of tech the world is after and also the elusive Red Fox. How will Simone manage it all and that too Far From Home, a la Spider Man? What I loved about this book - the good girl goes bad, and how with young Simone rebelling against all the discipline she held dear in the earlier book. Then there is the lens focused on friendships both old and new- again beautifully done - there is angst, love, fear, letting go and so much more - all the facets of friendship explored while staying true to the theme of mystery and the oddities of the spy world. Dive into this adventure filled, vibrant, quirky excitement dipped book if you are looking for a taste of mystery, thrills and innocence all rolled into one.
