I haven’t been personally exposed to Christian education for more than one college class so far, and at times it felt that the Gospel was brought up in a forced, unauthentic way. I absolutely did not feel that way about this text.

This book brought forward practical steps to consider education from a Christian worldview and even included a chapter on being a Christian teacher in a public school classroom. I found it all to be a helpful reminder for how to use my giftings and education to become the most effective teacher I can be.

I rarely consider keeping textbooks from classes, but I know this one will have a place on my shelf for the tenure my teaching career.

An excellent read for any Christian teacher, exploring how biblical worldview should shape and impact all that happens in the classroom, from community, through culture, and in curriculum. Von Brummelen paces the theory with points to reflect on your own practice and philosophies. Occasionally I felt he stretched the biblical view of teaching when comparing it to educational teaching, but that was a minor gripe for me.

This was a textbook for one of my classes. It was a little dated at some things but it was good in that it provided a variety of examples of things that teachers would encounter in the classroom and basic things that teachers need to understand. The best thing about this book was the constant biblical approach to teaching and seeing how a biblical approach can be used even for public school teachers. I would recommend this book to new teachers or students in the education field.

I read this for my Learning Theory class, required reading for my Masters' Program, but it was surprisingly well-written and offered a lot of insight into teaching based on a Biblical worldview without basically stating that Christianity should be shoved down students' throats. I would recommend this book for teachers or aspiring teachers, as it offers some interesting insight into classroom management etc.

I read this book as part of my degree program and it was fantastic! It is very well written making it easy to read and the application of methods and ideas are simply stated. The biblical integration into every chapter is very helpful and it evens has a chapter on being a teacher in public school. Great book!

Required reading. The authors perspective was very difficult for me to stomach as a Public school educator. This book will find a home in a trash pile or bonfire unless someone else wants it.

It rubbed me the wrong way like so many adoption books where the author just doesn’t have a clue about the reality of “real” circumstances. Except this was about education.

Great practical tips for integration of a Christian worldview into a classroom. I wish it provided more applications for public classrooms as well. Overall, super helpful and would recommend.

Great book. It focuses on the fact that students are created in the image of God and deserve to be educated as such. I recommend this book to aspiring educators.
