Mike Kraus & Muonic Press are the #1 selling indie press publishing post-apocalyptic tales, for good reason. Since capturing audience’s attention with Final Dawn in 2012, Kraus has captivated and delighted his readers, both with his solo projects like Surviving the Fall and No Sanctuary, and with his co-authored projects with authors like Justin Bell, JJ Pike, Tara Ellis, Kenny Soward and others on titles such as Zero Hour, MELT, Flashpoint and Weathering the Storm.
Final book of the series and we finally get a conclusion to this series which has had a lot of uneven parts. There were some editing errors in punctuation etc and 'yes' in Spanish is Si and not Ci. The segments of the US government and the conflict with other world powers had the potential for being somewhat interesting as well as likely in this kind of scenario, but it was treated more as filler and not essential to the story. For several books now, I have found myself very, very tired of Keith and Banks. Sadly, they dominated this last book. I find it hard to believe that 2 soldiers that had survived well to this point would be OK with being tasked to assist a guy they just incarcerated for murdering people in a hospital and would skipped getting any communication from their commander prior to getting this edict from Banks. They obviously had a lot of misgivings about Keith and the mission, especially when the parameters kept changing and there is a broadcast that Banks had gone rogue, but orders are orders to keep going. At least Keith and Banks are not likely to get a separate series of their own. This ends with a skip to the future, but there has never been an ice age on the planet that only lasted 14 years.

With environmental extremes and danger all around, can the McKnights hope to make a safe haven in a new homestead south of the Border? OMG! Full of different angles to this family's Apocalyptic journey, parents fighting to keep their family, including their trusty 'Smooch', alive & together while not losing their humanity as they are forced to experience horrors in their quest to survive an apocalyptic event...that makes you go...'Hmmm'! Kraus keeps us up at night, not able to put these books down. I felt their fear, exhaustion, anger and steadfast love for each other during their struggles to survive, stay together and thrive. You might want a hankie, especially when....well, many times. Catch you on the other side of my next Kraus series! Enjoy, settle in and enjoy this ride!
The end of a heart pounding adventure. Fast paced, action packed story which takes 7 books to tell the tale as Tom McKnight and his family have outrun rapid Arctic climate change caused by Naval officer Banks not listening to Tom about a sudden change in the upper Atlantic. Banks assigns an operative called Keith to convince Tom to return back to D C to help her cause she is in the big dog house. Tom must get home to his family to help prepare the for what is coming. Keith pursue them apll the way to Panama.
This was such a great story. It’s one of those you cannot put down and are disappointed when it is finished even though it’s a great read to the last word. I hope he gives us an update with more books on the travels and ongoing struggles of this family, I want to know where they go from here! I don’t want to ruin the story for others but Mike, please write about six more books about this family and how their lives turn out from here! I know there are more adventures to come!
I just finished reading this series and it was quite the adventure. There were a lot of threads to pull together, political machinations, tragedies galore, stalwart heroes and evil villains. There were some continuity problems in the series (a gunshot that went through but then surgery because it did not go through) and that is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars. I can recommend this if you love survival and good overcoming evil stories as much as I did! Seven stories in five days kind of love!
I started this series with high hope and I was justly rewarded ! I believe this is one of Mike Kraus best stories delivered to date . A horrible disaster released on the world and a civilizations strugvle.to care be out a new world . The McKinghts story of love trust and survival escaping a frozen nightmare where they leave loved friends and fight their way south to a new life while hoping one day to return to the place where the journey began .
I really liked this story, especially the beginning. But the final books were a little hard to read. My feeling was that there were too many extraneous parts woven in to try to make a longer story. Honestly, it could have been 2 or more separate stories. I'll admit I skimmed most of those unrelated parts. But the majority was an excellent story. And, all of Mike Kraus' stories have been really enjoyable. Thank you.
What a journey from book 1 to 7 never a full page, so exciting on every page book after book. If you love a good read with plenty of action this the one for you. The only drawback is being loath to stop reading to do your chores or go to bed art a reasonable time. Thank you Mike for another brilliant Survival Thriller. Oh & by the way I am an 83 year old female enjoying your books.
A thrilling series, books 1-7... I loved reading every book in this series. I read all in 1 week! Mike Kraus is an excellent author who weaves spellbinding stories that actually are somewhat coming true. A lot of great information as well as his books come to fruition.
What a book. Once again action and suspense to keep you guessing as to what could happen next. The McKnight might have escaped but there is still danger. Each page keeps you wondering as to what they could encounter and will they survive. Don’t miss out.
Wow, I screamed, I got angry, I cheered, got angry again, screamed again, it’s like a rollercoaster, you can’t put down. Angry bursts then tears. Mike Krause this series is fantastic.
The world continues to respond to changes caused by an anomaly in the Atlantic Ocean. A deranged federal agent continues to target the McKnight family as they flee South in search of a new place to call home.
I can't say anything more than the heading I wrote prior. I have been reading Mike Kraus' books for a long time and he never disappoints ..... Fast moving, fast paced, intriguing and hard to put down!!!
Great story and characters. This family struggled to survive and live freely. Unafraid and courageous, they helped each other stay strong. I loved Smooch, and kind, generous people.
This book was very exciting from the start. I could barely wait for each book to be released. I highly recommend it. My only problem was the introduction for to many outside the scope of the story but that was probably my need to find out what was happening to the McNights.
I would recommend this set of books to anyone who loves a great story. The never ending struggle to survive by the McKnight family is truly immersive. Great characters, great journey, great books. Read them.
It just keeps going on and on. It should have ended two or three books ago. The epilogue is ridiculous something that was supposed to last for a century or more (we were constantly reminded of this) is suddenly over in 15 or 20 years. I found the series to be very slapstick rushed together.
This has been a great series. Finally the end is here. A race against the cold and evil in the forms of a wicked woman and a crazy man leads then to a new home.
What a fun and great read! Very family oriented and filled with despair and hope! All the making of a story that will make you feel good with the last page!
