READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED:

This is a twisted ride. Dark psychological themes, dubious situations, and intense sexual circumstances layer this story and may be triggering or offensive to some.

CAIN
Before Phoenix, there was only death and blood.

After Phoenix, I changed.
Now, I was no longer only the villain—the hopeful seminary turned serial killer. My humanity was slowly returning.
And because of that, Phoenix now would serve as my life. My addiction. My obsession.

She'd ran away.
So, it was time for me to hunt.

PHOENIX
I was going to have to kill Cain.

Within the darkness, I was starting to yearn for the pain—the sting of his blades.

And slowly I was beginning to realize that there was nowhere to run on this entire planet.
Nowhere to hide.

Cain would always find me.
And the more he did, the more. . .
I may beg for his knives.

(USA Today Bestselling author Kenya Wright explores the darker parts of her mind through her alter ego, Taylor Rose.)

complicated relationships

I know I like dark and twisted. The authors I read who write it do a good job of making it sexy, appealing, and tapping into, to quote one of those authors, the “illogically taboo.” Which is why I get really defensive when people say dark romance is promoting toxic relationships. I say all that to say that this is honestly the first time Cain and Nix felt toxic to me. It’s an imbalance that I hope they overcome. The amount he was willing to compromise for her when she didn’t and wasn’t doing it for him really kind of annoyed me. Phoenix is letting herself be ruled but what she thinks she should like and want, based on what someone else has told her is normal. Anyway Cain was amazing as always and I love how the author gets in to the science of our reactions to different stimulation it was like nerdy foreplay. I liked book one better but this was still a good read.

This book was definitely better than the first. The spice was much better also.

I am annoyed that this is an unfinished series, some 3 years having passed since the release of book 2. I absolutely wouldn't have started an unfinished series. I don't like sitting around waiting on the completion of a story for years, and with some authors you never get a finished story.

That being said, the story continued to be entertaining and interesting and kept me intrigued about would come next.

The FMC gave a bit more pushback against the MMC, so that was nice. Miniscule as it was. 😑

I'm going to hate a MMC that treats a woman in that, "you just hush your pretty mouth. I know what you want and need. I know your mind and body better than you do." way. 🙄🤢 EVERY. SINGLE. TIME....I'm his biggest hater. 🙋🏾‍♀️

Also, the MMC and his brothers didn't do enough when Pandora said all that slick, r*cist stuff to Phoenix.

My eyes watered. I trembled within the storm. “Phoenix. . .please.”

Yesss, yesss, yesssss!! I love this alter ego of Kenya!!!!! Cain might be a psycho but he loves fiercely, loyal to a fault and all about his family. I didn’t know it was ending on a cliffhanger though. I probably would’ve waited until all three was out so I could read them back to back. This was different from my normal reads but I had to see what TR had going on with this, I’m so glad I did. I can’t wait to see what’s next for them, an unlikely team with one goal in mind… WAIT FOR IT.

So good!

Hunt was incredibly written! Taylor Rose gave us a dark story of love and obsession. Phoenix is Cain's driving force, he can't function without her. Watching their relationship evolve was an art in itself. We're taken back to Paridise where it gets wild. So many things that pull you in and now I'm anxiously awaiting for Pt3 Cure.

I wouldn't have started this if I had known that it would end on a cliffhanger 😤. Don't get me wrong, the book is INSANE!! Cain/ Cole has to be top ten one of the most fucked up ml I have ever read. Phoenix is a badass and I loved that she fought every step of the way.
Rose/ Wright is a damn good writer and I can't WAIT until the third book drops!!

A dark, intoxicating romantic thriller♥️🖤♥️

If you’ve read Ruin you know this is a dark romance and there are situations and scenes tho this book that may trigger some readers⚠️ If you enjoyed Ruin get ready to delve deeper into the turmoil of Cain and Phoenix’s relationship, jump off the ledge for an emotionally gripping, mentally consuming and sexually stimulating book‼️

Cain’s hunt for Phoenix, his love, his home, his everything is all he could think of until she was back in his arms again. Phoenix getting caught in Cain’s web was not her plan but she knew it was just a matter of time before he found her. Cain is still one crazy dude but, I see the love he has for Phoenix is genuine😍. His struggle of wanting to be a better man is not easy for him and after learning about what he’d gone through to end up this way I empathize and understand🥲. I believe Phoenix had a form of PTSD from her last encounter and being thrust back into another emotionally and physically taxing situation with Cain was concerning😥. The reassuring thing is that she’d learned some things from it giving her strength and confidence and that her compassion for Cain and reconciling her own trauma are interconnected🥰. I loved the depth of character, and getting to know them better was enlightening. Crazy Cain is still sexy in a haunting way and man does he know how to get you randy🥵🔥🥵. Like OMG, dare I say I would let him cut me to have him😈. Phoenix is witty, smart and definitely the right one to give balance to Cain who is just as clever. Their chemistry is undeniable and I love them together❤️. Their broken past is not the best foundation but I understand their desire for normalcy, living and loving the best way they know how🤗. One thing I absolutely loved about this book is the internal dialogue they have whether it’s justifying their action, scheming a plan, admitting their truest feelings and how the other made them feel. The range of emotions I felt was across all spectrum happy, sad, confused, anxious, scared, aroused and most definitely love for both Cain and Phoenix😘.

TR/KW, this second book was absolutely amazing🙌🏽. A whole lot happens besides the new dynamic between Cain and Phoenix but also with Quin, Devin and the brothers so pay attention. You’ll notice nuggets of people and places from another KW series as well😊. I highly recommend this book and I’m so excited and looking forward to the next one👍🏽.

In the opening of this book, we witness Cain on the hunt for his obsession, Phoenix, and Phoenix dealing with the aftermath of her kidnapping and torture because, no matter how we, as dark romance lovers, excuse the actions we read, what happened to Phoenix in book one was traumatising, and it's not something always addressed. Not only is the fmc showing clear signs of PTSD, but the abuse has opened the door for her past traumas, which were touched on in book 1, to try and push there way to the surface. Phoenix is suffering. Taylor Rose wrote this beautifully.

There is a scene in this book in the bathroom that caused me to get up in shock, go to the kitchen, and make myself a nice orange latte with foam oat milk and chocolate sprinkles in a desperate bid for some normalcy as I tried to process what the fuck I just read.

I craved more.

Phoenix is a fighter who often uses humour during the most terrifying moments with serial killing, bloodlust, crazed, sexy "smash" Cain. Some of the things she thinks, says, and does have me cackling out loud during the most gripping scenes.

There are some very intense and emotional moments between both characters. Sometimes it felt like I was intruding on their conversations as they both struggled to come to terms with their troubled pasts and growing feelings towards each other, especially Phoenix, given that Cain is her abductor.

The more I read, the more I felt so sorry for Phoenix, which is a departure from my usual "submit to the crazy, sexy stalker" messed-up stance. This is due to Taylor Rose documenting Phoenix's mental fallout because, as a greedy consumer of dark romances, Cain is genuinely one of the most terrifying and disturbing dark romance mmc's I have ever read. (Smash)

The spice is hot and written both tenderly and erotically. The illustrations are a nice touch.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to pre-ordering "Cure."

Book boyfriend for sure

Damn…

I’m not even sure if it makes me a little messed up in the head, but I freaking love Cain. His dark side is DARK but his nurting, nerdy side somehow outshines all of that. And I’m happy that Phoenix finally jumped. There was a few times I thought she was going to run and I’m glad she didn’t. I understand her trepidation, but I’m also glad she’s not letting that totally rule her.

Quin is hilarious. I’m so glad we got more of her in this story. I hope that continues in the next one. I also hope there’s a spin off about the brothers. Especially West. He seems like the other most interesting one. I love Griff but his character doesn’t seem as complex as West.

Anyways really hoping this series ties up with a HEA. Anything else would break my damn heart.

Wasn't sure how to feel about this book when I first started. The cutting & kidnapping stuff mixed with Theology. It seemed like a dark & disturbing read. I was on the fence about it but I kept reading. This turned out to be a demented, sexy & intriguing read. Cain was crazy obsessed with Nix, but you end up rooting for him. Nix is a runaway & has been on the streets for along time, therefore is smart & savvy .. She's a bad ass & loved her! Both had been through some f'd stuff in their lives and didn't think they would find love but love has a way to find you sometimes.... I enjoyed the read, the sex was hot & steamy and the characters were really well developed. In my opinion, It does end in a cliffhanger..do they find Pandora, get the money & get Nix's heels?!

A beautiful read

Although I hate the blood play stuff, I continued reading the series to find out how the couple, Phoenix and Cain, would develop. And I’m glad I did! This pairing is one of my new book faves! The details Wright/Rose gives describing their relationship is truly beautiful. I say that because of the facts about Greek gods, art, setting, music and food. All adds to the senses and creates the ultimate level of reading experience! Dark themes still continue, but there is more humour in this book and I found myself laughing out loud (very loudly) several times. Really excited about Book 3 and I’m going to do research now to find out when it’s out! This writer is so talented.

I Am a Bit confused...

KW is a good writer, one of my top favs...but I have a lot of conflicting feelings on this one. I can do dark romance, but when it feels like forced coercion especially with a little Stockholm, unhealed trauma and mental illness mixed in...it doesn't hit the same for me. KW does at least try to explain the science and connection behind their kinks as well as their history to help you start to connect with and root for the couple. May be my biases with what I work with everyday, helping women get disentangled from toxic relationships irl, but this isn't my favorite...but to each is own. This may be a little something different the the next person🤷🏾‍♀️.

Word of advice: don’t rob a robber and take his bag with a tracker in it, don’t give him the best sex of his life, make him fall in love with you and the. RUN. Because he will hunt you, capture you, kidnap you, rent a massive mansion on Airbnb, handcuff you to the bed, cut you like he knows you like it until you fall in love with him. Cane is so crazy over Phoenix that he told her to pull the trigger because he would rather she do it than the police coming through the Airbnb. He looked longingly and lovingly into her eyes because he was dead serious. She didn’t do it, she decided to willingly give herself to him. OMG!!!

Obsessed

Cain is obsessed with Phoenix, she touched a place in his heart that he thought was dead …
Phoenix is the other hand is both attracted and scared of Cain… she has her running shoes on but there is no place to hide from Cain because that man cannot live without her, he will hunt her down to the end of the earth.
Now, Griff I can’t for the life of me figure out if he is playing dumb or is he really that stupid 😝… mhmm!
West in the other hand is very smart.
I like Quin and Devin. Can’t wait for pandora’s demise 😜

Left us with a cliffhanger

I enjoyed the exploration into Cain's psyche a bit more than in the RUIN, especially another glimpse of his and his siblings life up to when they lost their parents. The three amigos have an interesting dynamic, but the brothers are supportive of each other. Griff is a mess, and there is something more to learn about West. I can't wait to see more of Phoenix, Quinn, and her brother Tate. When is CURE releasing? I want to know if Pandora gets her comeuppance.

Hunt was a fantastic read!! It was very entertaining with great characters that kept me laughing. Cain is on the hunt for Phoenix. Cain and his brothers have been staking out Victory Park for weeks. One day Cain is confronted by Devin. Who unknowingly leads the brothers to Phoenix. I thought the brothers couldn't get any crazier I was wrong. I'm looking forward to reading Cure. I loved the story and recommend that you read it!!

Cain Please Hunt Me ❤️

Who laughs during a psychological thriller!?! I do. The ability of Kenya to keep us constantly on the edge of our seats accompanied with laughter is an amazing talent! Cain is crazy crazy but you get a glimpse of Cole and he’s so sweet and enduring. Love Phoenix’s battle with herself unfolds nicely. Love Quinn, Devin, Griff and West. I’m here for the adventure back to Glory! I’m still chuckling about Phoenix and her feet! Amazing! ❤️

I LOVE QUIN! I just finished reading other DR and complained how the best friends are always nonchalant about the FMC being kidnapped by the psycho MMC but this is not one of them! Quinn is such a rider! When she gave out her address I literally screamed! I LOVE HER! The scene when Nix decides to jump…the description the detail I felt so many emotions! Again I love Cain and j won’t stop loving him! My poor tortured soul! I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!!!!

I loved it!

This book was great. I was worried that it wouldn’t hold my interest by it being long, but I was wrong. It is a great read and had me laughing out loud in some parts. The tampon scene was gross though. However it showed how obsessed Cain was with Phoenix. I can’t wait for Cure

Loved this book!

Omg!! This sequel was everything I wanted and more!! You know a book is good when it has rooting you for the psycho hero/villain. I loved all the characters in this book. From Cain and Phoenix to West and Griff and most of all Quinn. Now she's a ride or die everyone needs. I can't wait for book three.

interesting Concept!!

Caín and Phoenix challenges our ideals about love. Is it really normal or is it whatever works in the midst of broken trauma filled lives. Can there be real love and what does it look like? I am going to stay on this journey and see what it looks like for Cain and Phoenix.

Wow!

I just don't know what to say, I loved the continuation of this book. The plot was good and can't wait to see what happens next for Cain and Phoenix. I am also hoping West can tame Quin. Hopefully it's not a long wait. If you're not into psychological and dark romance then this book is not for you. I would recommend to those who like these types of books.

**Please Check Trigger Warnings**

This book was a well anticipated follow up to book #1. I like the Cat and mouse concept of it. It keeps it very intriguing. Those knife scenes had me on the edge of my seat.

If you're into knife play, spicy scenes and some suspense, definitely check this series out...

Patiently waiting with bated breath for the third book

Never knew blood lust would be my thing!

This soon to be trilogy is such a surprise! I don’t love blood, and I don’t love knives, but I love it when it comes to the Cain and Phoenix story! Brilliant writing style and flow. I have bought in to their love story and all of the characters’ quirks! I’m rooting for all of them to have an HEA!

Baby what a ride

Cain and Phoenix are a couple now. The whole group was part of the story. This was a good read. I had no moment when I said this is boring. The story flowed and when they hit Paradise the story really flowed. I am ready for the next installment of Cain and Phoenix!

Hunt

Finding what’s lost… skeptical about a job… impatient with unwanted advances… allowing the mole a voice is dangerous… finding a cave… deciding to throw caution to the wind… learning to trust your arch enemy, well we have to wait to see if it is a smart move or more chaos in the making…

Part 3 please!!

Please say part 3 is coming soon. This book is so well written. The characters have such depth and it was great to get the back story on all of them. Kenya/Taylor writes some of the best stories that I have read in such a long time.
Thank you for bringing such interesting stories to the masses.
