While the city of London slept, he made good on our promise. Only to cut me with his words as the sun broke.
I ran from him—I always ran. But Mason Lowell was different, and he wouldn’t let me go without a fight, finding my flaws and embedding himself into them.
My push was strong. I spent my whole life perfecting it. But his pull was unashamedly stronger, and the rope he bound around my heart was his to pull at will.
Love was shared—so much love. Promises were made—he broke every one. And then just when I think we are playing in the same key...
The music stops.
THE GRAND DUET contains both Grand Lies & Grand Love, the complete whirlwind romance between Mason and Nina.
Thoughts - Part 1, Grand Lies - what an intense emotional roller coaster and man did I love it. Nina is just amazing! I loved how she sticks to her guns and doesn’t want anything from Mason but him. And Mason is a tall glass of alpha male 😂 there were a few different stories happening throughout which I’m looking forward to seeing if my theories pan out in part 2. Also I loved how immersed I got how the story unfolded. You felt the toxic parts just as much as the happy parts. Special shout out to Anal Tuesdays #IYKYK had a few chuckles over that part 😂😉
Part 2, Grand Love - 😭😭😭 omg what a way for part 1 to end and part 2 to start. My heart broke for both Nina and Masson at different times throughout the story. They both could not get out of there own way! It was a real emotional story for me and those with maybe a bit of life under there belt.
*is it wrong I want to read Vinny’s story, I get full daddy vibes from him 🫠
Plot - Nina and her friends are on a girls night out when she literally bumps into a couple of guys at the bar. After a great night hanging out the guys arrange for there friend Mason to drive them home. Queue the start of a whirlwind love story, love, hate and everything in between.
* That spice 🌶️ * ⚠️ Trigger Warnings * Miscommunication * Single parent (at points) * HEA
“You want my manners? I want your taste. On my tongue, my cock, everywhere. Please.”
The way this duet has me feeling 🫠 I can’t recommend this series enough. I’m so glad I discover JC because I don’t know how I lived without. Nina and Mase’s love story was written so well it couldn’t have been written any better. The plot was so good, don’t get me wrong the steamy spice was good too but the storyline was so good that the spice was just the cherry on top. I went through soo many emotions with these books and I enjoyed every bit of it. I don’t remember the last time I felt this way. The way the pit of my stomach feels ready to dive into the Grand Pact I hate that I have to get some sleep and wait to read it. The way that everything played out from start to finish was seamless and the way it kept me on my toes but also made me swoon and thigh clench, I don’t know whether I’m coming or going lol.
Here’s some of my favorites:
“Nina hunny, remember to shag his brains out,” “And I mean completely. We don’t want any cerebrum left getting in the way of us and that marriage proposal.”
“For the first time I see her distinctively. No barrier, no wall, just raw, unfiltered pain - it’s what I wanted, right? More than just her body.”
“She’s every man’s wet dream.”
“Turn around and put your knees where your feet are. Sit on my face, angel.”
This pulls at the heartstrings making you laugh as well as cry. Mase and Nina have an instant connection and great friends. Rocky road to get to where they need to be, but as with all HEA they finally get to theirs. Some of the side characters are pretty amazing as well. I don’t think everything was addressed that should have been, but that’s just my view. I would recommend this book to anyone however because it was well written and drags you into the story to the point of making you forget about anything else. A minor phrase here and there had me scratching my head, but for the most part the British terminology didn’t deter me from enjoying the book.
This duet pulled me out of a major slump I have been in! Mason and Nina, I absolutely loved them, I loved all their friends, I loved all their issues, etc etc. Yes, there was unnecessary drama. Yes, both Mason and Nina (especially Nina) got on my nerves plenty. But something about these two and the dynamics of all the friendship really sucked me in and I did not come up until I was done. I am super excited to see Elliott gets a book next. I can't wait for more of this gang!
This book was absolutely AMAZING!! The author did a wonderful job and I can’t recommend this book enough! It’s an emotional rollercoaster that I was unable to put down!!
I actually don’t know where to start and I don’t want to ruin anything Nina and masons relationship literally goes up and down and she knows how to handle him her heart is broken and torn in two but can she make it up to mason or has it gone too far?
I really wanted to love this book. NINA was insufferable. I would not get pass her back in forth. She would get mad at everything Mason did. Im not saying that Mason was perfect because he wasn't but she was just annoying. I could not get through the book. stopped at 20%.
WOW! That was a lot! So much drama! But the incredible relationship between these friends! And Mason! Swoon! Lol! Nina was a little agggravat8ng! But I totally get it! They truly were soulmates!
Loved the girl friendships, the guy friendships were great. Loved reading the whole group interactions between the guys and girls. Nina is so strong and independent. Mason is alphahole hotness! What an emotional roller coaster!
I found this book by chance and actually read the two books separately. This story left me with such a book hangover its not even funny.
I really like a good strong female and a good male character. They are both stubborn and can stand on their own easily but together are great!!
Nina is a dancer and you could really imagine her in her studio and how she was shook by events in the story. Mason is a strong businessman that has taken over his family business together with his best friend.
They meet by the hands of his friends and it was lush from beginning to end for me. You can easily relate go events that happen and it doesn’t seem so far fetched like a lot or romance that has steam.
I could relate to the characters easily and found the way that the group was introduced was great. The banter between the group was next to none for me.
The storyline in the background building for the next couples are there and that is something you need for a series so it was good to see.I absolutely love this friendship group and cannot wait to read more from a new favourite author for me.
Overall, As much as this duet made me want to throw my kindle at the wall, it made the end all the better after the absolute fight they had to go through. All the twists and turns had me absolutely sobbing. I loved how Nina stuck with her heart, stayed true to herself and only wanted Mason for him and not for what he had. Their love felt real and raw, it gave just the right amount of angst that kept me on the edge of my seat.
I’m so ready to dive in to the JC Hawke universe and this was such a good book to start with. I’m excited to read the rest of the groups stories 🙂↕️🧚
