That's Meeko's life motto. As a mouse shifter, he's the weakest of the weak. But Meeko has a killer survival instinct. He skilfully wields his father's sword to protect himself against the world. No matter what he's been through, he'll live—even if it means going it alone forever.
But when Meeko's prized sword is stolen by a mysterious entity, he's forced to put his trust in a terrifying foe—a harpy with razor-sharp talons, an obsessive gaze, and who makes Meeko's heart race for reasons other than fear...
Cloud
Everyone deserves a chance.
Cloud lives by relentless optimism, always seeking the silver lining. Gloomy loners aren't his cup of tea and he certainly doesn't want to spend the rest of his life with one...
When Cloud gets burned by someone he thought was a friend, he's thrust into a situation that challenges his every belief. Can he still trust everyone? How long can he tolerate the cute-but-crazy omega mouse shifter who wants to stab him?
And worst of all, why can't he stop obsessing over Meeko?
Fated: Harpy and the Mouse is an mpreg book with an alpha harpy, a mouse shifter omega, sweet fluff andhurt/comfort, and an HEA as usual! This is the fifth book in the Pack of Heirs series and best enjoyed in series order.
Hawke is a M/M author who loves the world of MPREG and shifters. In his spare time he enjoys hiking with his dog, hanging out with his boyfriend, and playing video games.
Loved this pair a lot... To say opposites attract is an understatement with this couple! But of course with them being fated mates they are perfection together!!!!
This was adorable. Meeko is a mouse shifter taught not to trust alphas. One day his sword he was given is stolen by Mistral an air spirit harpy. He is furious because the sword means a lot to him.
Cloud who is another harpy, but a sweet kind good one comes to Meeko's aide. Says he will help him get the sword back. At first Meeko says no but finally gives in. Along the way they fall in love with each other. Fated mates they are. They face off with both Mistral and Animus another spirit.
Animus had offered to help get the sword back but he hates alphas as we have learned from past books. Meeko realizes why as does Cloud. Even though Meeko refused Animus help the sword is still returned to him by the end.
Meeko and Cloud have a cute son by the end of this.
I'm excited to read the next book to find out what Animus is up to. Great series.
Meeko was really a badass omega mouse and Cloud was such a sunny and laid-back alpha harpy... They were quite the combination.
Mistral is really showing his bad sides lately. And Animus is such a complex character... Though he has a soft spot for omegas.
I was really glad we could see a bit more of the children in this book... And it was a nice change of pace that they met the family earlier on so we could get a bit more interactions.
I missed how in the pack of brothers they were all together in the grove and we could see how the children grew up.
POV:dual Tropes: fated mates, mpreg, big predator alpha/small prey omega Spice: medium (detailed scenes) CW: little bit of violence.
Meeko is so adorable! I instantly fell in love with him. He reminds me of Matthias from Red Wall, both brave little mice with swords! Cloud, seems like the kind of guy, you would love to hug and hang out with. By his own admission he's the ideal sounding board for his family. He's kind, caring, and sappy in the best way possible. He was needed to soften Meeko's hard edges. They make such a cute couple.
Hawke Oakley, here just take my money. You've become one of my go to good feel reads and rereads. Thank you for all the work you put in each book!
Fun story! It was nice to get to know Cloud after all the stories. He is one of the last few nextgen alphas. He keeps his spirits high, as always. He meets Meeko, while he's still in mouse form and is absolutely delighted. He found Meeko to be very brave. He assists Meeko on a quest and they have an adventure. We get a few answers about Animus and are left with more questions. Cloud is a delight and I liked getting a visual of a harpy. This team is in the top 3 of couples. Good story, nicely done.
4.5 Stars - Another great addition to a sweet series. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was that there were several times where the wrong character name was used. Like Animus instead of Mistral. I adore this series and can’t wait to finally read Lev’s book when it comes out. I’ve been waiting for his story since the prologue in Zak’s book. And hopefully we’ll finally understand Animus better! I kind of wish he could get his own book too.
I love a small shifter that is feisty and Meeko definitely fits the description. As a mouse shifter he has to stand up for himself and be brave and strong but when his biggest source of protection (his sword) is stolen he reluctantly has to accept help from a Harpy Alpha. As a Harpy Cloud is very easy going and uncomplicated and he's been dying to meet a fated mate of his own. And when he meets Meeko and offers his help to find the stolen sword he finally gets his turn.
This story was a nice addition to the series. I love a good mouse shifter tale. I also Bob enjoyed learning more about Animus and am looking forward to the conclusion of the series.
I really enjoyed this book and thought it was another good addition to the Pack of Heirs Series by Hawke Oakley. Sometimes you just need a low angst, fluff, insta-love story which this is. I loved the connection between Meeko and Cloud. Man, Cloud was a total sweetheart and I loved that he wasn’t put off by Meeko’s surly attitude, as he realised that Meeko was being short because it came from a place of fear. I think that they’re perfect for each other, as they balance each other out. Meeko was gifted a heirloom sword from his omega father, which gets passed down the omega line. Meeko is a mouse shifter and only grew up around his father, which they warned him about trusting no one, apart from his family and alphas are the worst. Cloud is a harpy shifter and he’s out on a flight and he sees the air spirit Mistral so he tries to catch up with him but it’s obvious that Mistral doesnt want anything to do with him. He was a bit of a d*ck. Not long after Cloud hears quite a racket and goes to investigate and sees Mistral, stealing a stick from a mouse. Cloud goes to check if the mouse shifter is okay but the mouse attacks him, as he thinks that Cloud was the harpy that attacked him.
Meeko and Cloud don’t start off on the best foot but Cloud offers to help Meeko get his sword back from Mistral, and Cloud shows Meeko through his actions that he’s being truthful and that he’s different than other alphas, so he can be trusted. The plot thickens where Animus is concerned, especially with it being confirmed that he’s an omega (I kind of expected already), no wonder he hates alphas so much. Both him and Mistral were complete a*seholes towards Meeko and Cloud during this book and really hurt them, but they were both so protective of the other which fated mates should be. At least Animus made some sort of apology. I loved how loving and supportive both Cloud’s family is and welcomed Meeko into their family with open arms. Meeko’s father’s did the same with Cloud. Little Jace was totally adorable, and I can’t wait to see if he inherits any mild powers from his water spirit great grandfather. I’m looking forward to reading the final book in the series, and getting to know more about Leverett and what happens when he’s in Animus’s clutches. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
Your fated mate tries to stab you? Fate has a weird sense of humor.
I love the Pack of Heirs world. This mixed species shifter extended family is the epitome of what family should be... accepting of everyone's individuality. I read this in one sitting...it is that good. My old friends were here, although this story focuses on Cloud. This Harpy alpha finds a mate he doesn't know he needs. Raised to distrust all alphas, mouse shifter Meeko is on a quest to retrieve his stolen sword. He doesn't have time for an alpha or a mate. Throw in two not so nice spirits with secrets, and you have one fantastic book. There is HEA. But the story isn't complete. It will continue in the next book. I can't wait. You are just going to love this book!.
Meeko and Cloud’s story was an absolute delight! Meeko’s feisty, defensive attitude paired perfectly with Cloud’s unwavering optimism. Their push-and-pull dynamic kept me on edge in the best way, with Cloud’s patience slowly wearing down Meeko’s walls. The stolen sword plot added excitement and gave their journey a sense of urgency, but it was the emotional growth and trust between them that made their bond feel so satisfying. Their HEA was both adorable and well-deserved, making this one of my favorites in the series.
