Weddings are tough. You have to find a date, buy a dress, and make small talk with a lot of people you don't know. But when a guest is poisoned and you're left holding the bag, being single doesn't matter quite so much.
Scrutiny from the regular law was one thing, but as a registered magic user with a flare for all things botanical, I had to evade the attention of the magical Inquisition. And with the imminent launch of my nursery venture, clearing my name before my mug shot made it into the paper had to be my number one priority.
Enlisting the help of old friends and meeting new ones along the way, getting the jump on the surly detective on my case wasn't so hard.. But getting to the bottom of this mystery was going to be tougher than I thought.
Weddings might be a joyous occasion, but when there's a killer on the loose, they can take a deadly turn. Join me as I search for the truth behind this wedding day murder and try to stay out of prison for a crime I didn't commit.
If you enjoy paranormal cozy mysteries with a horticultural twist, Kat Crowe’s adventures in Trouble Down Under should be just the ticket.

The way PA Mason writes is captivating from the beginning and you just want to keep reading and reading and not stop. It is both descriptive and has great world building (important for a fantasy) but also is interesting and is filled with mystery/suspense throughout.. Need I say more? There is just no way that you can find the right spot to set the book down, but you just have to - no way you can read it in one setting, unless you pull an all nighter and then you still want to keep reading as you know there's more to the story than the author has let us know. And once I reached the end I desperately wanted the next novel in the collection. How long would I have to hold my breath before I can get my hands on the next novel in the series? I so wanted more!! Honestly the ending of this particular segment was absolutely amazing! Be prepared the ending is going to totally throws you for a twist! I received this novel from the author. This is my true and honest review
P.A.Mason sure tells a good tale and can create a marvelous mystery The characters are vibrant, colorful and down under stubbornly cheeky 😉 in the small town gossip mill news travels fast when there's a death and even faster when it's found to be fowl play.Kat has a grand opening do on the weekend but when murder has the out of town Inspector looking at Kat as a suspect she wonders if there will be one and if so could it be from behind bars. It's time to get that magical invitation going if everyone close to Kat is to stay out of prison for a crime they didn't commit and that means finding out who did before it's to late. Acquire " Draft Beer &Drop Bears " today for hours of magical and intriguing entertainment. 😀 Kat
The continuing story of Kat “Down-Under”. She’s very busy getting her nursery ready to open. Then she helps her next door neighbour, Kelly, prepare flowers for a wedding. At this wedding she sees a woman alone, as she is, so she grabs a drink & goes over to chat to her. Soon after this, the woman collapses & later dies. Poisoned! So, naturally Kat, Kelly the the woman’s ex - Travis the landscaper are under suspicion by a detective from Melbourne. Great magical fun is had throughout this book. The Draft Beer And Drop Bears is a new restaurant & microbrewery in town & where the wedding reception was. Drop bears has a special meaning for me so I had an extra giggle when they were mentioned.
This is my first Kat book, but I loved it!!! I will definitely need to go back and read Books 1 and 2 real soon. The cliffhanger at the end btw, WHAT?!!? Now I have to wait to see how THAT comes out.
I loved this one a lot. The murder, the suspects, the REAL killer (strangely I pegged that correctly right away, go me). I great read, a lot of great characters, the romantic tension coming is fun too. Who doesn't love a little flirting among characters, that might be mild, but could lead somewhere great. Oh and a skull that's hundreds of years old, FUN!
P A Mason seems to love writing and sharing good stories with us, and I can't wait to read some more of them!!!
Opening a new business, Garden Gate Nursery & Supplies is all that Kat should be worried about but now her excitement about the launch is in mired with worry. While attending a wedding, Kat now must worry about being arrested by a surly detective after a guest is poisoned and Kat is a suspect. What a fun book with a very entertaining storyline, great characters, a magical cat, and a terrific mystery. I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.
Draft Beers and Drop Bears is book #3 in the Trouble Down Under Book series by P.A. Mason.
Kat’s at a wedding reception when she starts chatting with a women. When she dies, Kat becomes a suspect.
I really enjoy reading about Kat’s adventures. Kat worked more with Ash which was entertaining. Her household is in chaos, she’s expanding her business and trying to clear her and her friends’ name. Throw in a bit of magic and you’ve got a series!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I've really enjoyed following along with Kat Crowe as she deals with various mysteries in this series, and this book is certainly no exception. Well written, fun, and even though I predicted who the killer was pretty easily, I still couldn't wait to see how everything played out. The ending definitely sets up the next mystery in the series, and I can't wait to read it!
This author is a gem with a talent for fun, well-paced mysteries. I highly recommend giving her works (and this series!) a read.
Easy to read, lighthearted. but... It felt like it had less Aussie voice than the last few books. Which I consider a pity as I very much liked the local colour. Also there was more mystery and less of the green witch and paranormal element (which I also liked in previous books). So I am in two minds about it, I wish I could give a 4.5 rating. Received as a complimentary copy from the author in return for an honest review.
This is the third book in the series! I absolutely love it!! It keeps me reading to find out what happens next. I love all the twists and turns this series has! I am growing to love all the characters and I am invested in them! I can not wait for the next book to come out! Pick up the series today and you will not be able to put it down!!
This series was a pleasant read. No brand name dropping, everyone isn't drop dead gorgeous, and half the book isn't women admiring some man's butt and abs. I like the characters and look forward to more of these people. I also enjoyed looking up the meaning of Australian terms and slang, as well as plants and critters.
It's so different from other coding mysteries I've read. Quite refreshing! The characters are so well written, look me real people. I love Gus, he's a character all his own. Perhaps someday, there'll be a series featuring Gus and Billy, magic detectives! Can't wait for the next book. Too bad there aren't more.
I enjoyed this book. The town was easy to picture, especially the garden shop. I didn't figure out who the murderer was and was surprised by who it actually was. Plus, the reason for the murder came as a total surprise.
I freely gave my honest review in exchange for an ARC copy of this book
An enjoyable and entertaining read following the further adventures of Kat setting up her life long dream. A few laughs along the way too mainly due to her sometimes grumpy familiar Gus. A good clean read.
Having been roped into doing flowers for a wedding seemed like a favour for a friend. But the favour led to being accused of murder. O.A.Mason develops the story in her inimitable way.
As usual Pam delivered. Great story, laughable moments and a good mystery. Who committed the murder? Kat Crowe did it again. Looking forward to some more fun down under!
I can’t wait to buy these Trouble Down Under books for my granddaughter’s birthday. She will be as thrilled with them as I have been. We love a little mystery and witchcraft mixed with a lighthearted story. So enjoyable…
Again?!? Poor Kat keeps getting mixed up in murders that she didn’t commit. Once again she needs to figure out who did commit the murder not only to exonerate herself, but her friends. What is a girl to do? This book is another fantastic story in an equally fantastic series!
Read books in order! Well, a person you just met, Ya'll were just chatting about the wedding reception. The person just literally just drops unresponsive. You do the right things call EMS start CPR everything you were able to do. Heck of a way for the Newlyweds to start their new relationship, right? Now you are a suspect to murder? What ??? you don't even know them! you are trying to solve it b/c you don't want to be charged with murder?
