One night over a decade ago Bowie James’ life changed forever. Flashing lights, cops, ambulances and three body bags left his world turned upside down and the love of his life, Hollis Foust, on the run. Throughout the years Bowie has wondered and even searched for Hollis without any success and just when he’s about to give up the last bit of hope he has, Hollis walks back into his life. Bowie’s brother, Ace, hired a new tattoo artist for his shop, Inkredible, only to find out that Holly Sullivan is actually Hollis Foust all grown up.
Hollis’ life has never been easy and the last ten years weren’t different. No matter where she was or who she was with it always came back to Bowie. His memories kept her going. In her wildest dreams she could have never prepared for the war of emotions that reuniting with Bowie causes.
Will they get a second chance or is there too much damage to move forward?

Well written story with a nice storyline and plot. I like that the characters and how they develop. A passionate and emotional read with twists. Enjoyable and recommendable. Bowie and Holly are friends and he is there for her when her world turns upside down. But she leaves suddenly and when she returns 11 years later will he then still be there? Can they have a second chance at everything or has he moved on and forgot her? A story with drama, emotional ups and downs and a lot of twists.
It is written in dual POV which gives the reader much more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. The epilogue is very welcomed and gives the story more to it and it finishes it better of than without it.
Stephanie Doyal weaves an enjoyable story with a little bit of everything: romance, suspense, action, and heartbreak. We follow the early stages of Hollis's and Bowie's relationship through the utterly devastating night when Hollis's world changes forever, forcing her to retreat to a life she never expected. But Doyal gives her characters a second chance at a life together, only to have it tested, once again, neither giving up on the other. Pick this book up for your next summer read!
Bowie and Hollis’ story! Ever since the first James brother book we have read about Bowie and his lost love, Hollis. I have to say, I was anticipating this story, and worried it wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Fortunately, Stephanie Doyle delivers a story worthy of lost love and heartbreak. Two kids who met in high school, both dealing with issues far greater than their ages, fall in love, only to have the murder of Hollis’ family tear them apart. Now, years later, Hollis returns, but the past comes back to haunt her in more ways than one. Will they be able to overcome their past and present in order to make things work?
Very fun summer read! Enjoyable characters that we meet in their high school days that get torn apart by circumstance. We rejoin their story a few years later and find out if second chances do exist. Now I have to go back and read the first books from this series and get to know the other brothers :).
Can the person who scared you, also heal you “ That’s what Bowie James wants to find out when ex- girlfriend and the one and only love of his live, Hollis returns home. I loved this book and I seriously couldn’t get enough. I was reading real slow at the end to make it last! The whole James family was so much more than I expected and I hope To read more about them ! This is my first book by this author and while it is part of a series, I read it as a stand-alone and I was lost! Stephanie Doyal, Thank you for this heartfelt story and I am already looking for more!
Another great heart grasping book in the James Brothers Series. This book is about James brother Bowie. We know him in the first two books as the brother who loves to drive fast, win races and sleep with women no strings attached. He had his heart broken by his first love Hollis as a teenager. She had a hard life and when tragedy struck she disappeared. Now 10 years later she is back and actually renting a tattoo space in James brother Ace's tattoo shop. She is different but the same. As Bowie and Hollis start to get reacquainted the past that haunts her catches up to her and she decides she is going to fight back instead of only running. She has really only depended on herself. But Bowie has always promised to protect her and he meant it. This book was so great. I loved every minute of it. I have been wanting the Bowie and Hollis story since I knew there was one. As their reuniting goes in the book we get flashbacks of how they met and I love the their whole story. It was full of love, heartbreak, hope and pure beauty. This book also had me on my toes. The suspense of Hollis parents past mistakes catching up to her was intense. And I will say the author totally fooled me when I thought I figured it all out. But that just showed how great this book was. I highly suggest. Bowie is now my favorite James brother. Sorry Jagger.
This exceptional second chance romance is so well written.
I was intrigued and completely captivated by the story of Bowie and Hollis. They were high school sweethearts and best friends, until a tragedy tears them apart and we see life for them ten years later. I could not put this story down. It was fantastic. My emotions where everywhere. At times Hollis frustrated me and my heart broke for Bowie. Throughout this story, you get to see how you can never get over your first love, heartbreak and how everything in the end comes around full circle- even when we don’t understand it at the time.
There were a lot of touching moments in the overall story. I loved the main characters and I adored the way that they completed each other. Throughout this series, we see how the James’ parents did such an amazing job of raising their boys to be gentlemen. Also, appreciating the love of their parents and their family life - even if they didn’t have that much money wise.
I love the way this remarkable author brings the characters to life before your very eyes and you can just feel their emotions and their pain. I can hardly wait to see what comes next from this multi talented author.
All the James brothers hold a special place in my heart. I think Bowie comes in number two. Ace will forEVER be my number one lol, but he has had his time to shine. It's Bowies turn to be happy.
When I first learned what happened to Hollis, I felt horrible. Like, who could do that to a child because of the decisions their parents make in life? I was so mad and didn't blame her for fleeing, how could she not? Living in fear that you could be next was no way to live. Then to find out what she had to do to survive, that girls one strong cookie.
Bowie, I was mad at him with how he handled the fact that she left and let it fester for 10 years. I didn't like the fact that he met someone who wasn't a girlfriend, but was to satisfy his needs. I know he couldn't hold out for 10 years waiting on Hollis to return and that made me mad, which it shouldn't but it did. I also understand why he did it, he never expected her to come back.
I was so happy all ended well because they both deserved happiness after all they went through. Second chance love always wins.
Phenomenal ready yet again. I can't wait to see who is up next!
In this book we get the back story of how Bowie and Hollis met, along with what her home life was like growing up. Then her world turns upside down one night when Bowie takes her home and they see three body bags amid the flashing police lights and ambulances.
Hollis leaves town without saying goodbye. And for Bowie, not only does he have to deal with Hollis leaving but just a couple months later his mother is dead. Without Hollis there to calm Bowie down, he gets into all kinds of trouble. Hollis doesn't have an easy time of it either as she tries to survive and then finally returns to LA. Unfortunately there is someone who isn't happy to see Hollis return and it leads to trouble for her.
There were a lot of touching moments in the overall story. I loved both of the main characters and the way they completed each other. As we see throughout the series, the James parents did a good job of raising their boys to be gentlemen and they learn later to appreciate the love of their parents and their family live - even if they didn't have that much on a monetary basis.
A second chance romance that will make you bawl your eyes out with both sadness and joy!
Hollis and Bowie met at 15/17. Bowie acted as a protector against her harsh upbringing with drug selling parents. Soon after meeting her family is murdered and she lives in constant fear so chooses to leave Bowie behind. 10 years later she returns and they try to reconnect.
This is a fast paced romance leaving you constantly wanting more. Hollis is strong beyond belief choosing love over fear and Bowie is sweet, hot still but definitely sweet, he protects Hollis wanting the best for her while understanding her need for independence. He's considerate and there's this heart wrenching scene in the book where he asks for permission to marry her and when you get to this part trust me your heart will melt with love and sadness all at once.
This was such an enjoyable yet emotional rollercoaster of a book and I would recommend this to anyone who loves second chance romance with a surprising plot twist and a lovely family dynamic between main and secondary characters.
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. Loved this story about Hollis and Bowie. He's two years older than Hollis at school but when he bumps into hey one day, he can't get her off his mind. Hollis has a crappy life and she and her brother suffer, but thanks to Bowie and his family life seems a little better. But one night changes it all, the night get family is murdered. Hollis runs away without telling Bowie, crushing him. But when his mom does shortly after, he starts acting out. Then ten years later Hollis comes back to LA and Bowie is blown away, he's ticked she left with no reason but glad she's back. Things are strange at first between them, she keeps feeling like someone is watching her. Follow their adventure as they realize they have a deeper connection. Loved the heat and mystery.

As annoyed as I was by Bowie at times, I had to like him. And the same goes for Hollis. She did what she thought she needed to at 15, and then again now. Was it stupid back then? A little. Was it now? A little less stupid now. She knew that she had to be free of the past before she and Bowie could have any chance at a decent future. And the rest of Bowie’s family banded together to protect Hollis and Bowie however they could, even if they didn’t quite understand all that was in play at the time. And when it all came to a head, I doubted that this author would make it all okay. But she did. In a fabulous way.
My ONLY wish is that a certain super mean girl gets her comeuppance at some point. She needs to be taken down far more pegs than even Kynlee and her brilliant snark managed to do. But maybe that’s for another book...and if not, at least that someone learned the hard way not to be nasty to every woman she meets.
This is the 3rd book in the series. I didn't read the others(yet) but I plan to. The James brothers are a interesting bunch. Hollis and Bowie were high school sweethearts. Hollis's life was the opposite of Bowie. He had loving responsible parents who took care of him and his brothers. Bowie is there for Hollis and does what he can to help her and her brother. They are both very young and when tragedy strikes, Hollis runs away. 10 years later she is back. Will they take another chance at love or will they let life in the way. The story has so many twists and turns your emotions will be all over the place.

The James Brothers story continues with Bowie’s story. Bowie loved Hollis from the moment he ran into her in the hallway (literally). He didn’t care about how bad her home life was, he saw her for who she was. And he thought she loved him too. So when tragedy struck her life, he expected to be there for her, not have her run away without even a goodbye. So when Hollis shows back up ten years later, he’s still pissed and he wants answers. But one look is all it takes to show him how much he still loves her. Hollis sees that Bowie still has feelings for her, but they won’t last once he knows what she’s done to survive while she was gone. And did she bring that life back with her or is someone else after her? Is her only answer to run again?
Yet another unputdownable story from Stephanie Nichole.
The story flowed like river water over rocks: smooth and alluring, drawing you in with characters that speak to you on a personal level. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to see what Stephanie has in store for us next.
If I'm looking for a second chance romance that allows me to escape reality for a few hours, I will turn to any of Stephanie's books. This time was no different.
I enjoyed losing myself in the story of Bowie and Hollis, two halves of a whole who were separated by a tragic event 11 years prior.
It has all the makings of a perfect Sunday afternoon read: character development, emotional twists, and enough drama to help us forget about our daily lives if only for a few hours.
This is the first James brother book to pop my 🍒 with this author.
Bowie and Hollis’s story had me intrigued, high school sweethearts and best friends, until a tragedy tears them apart and we see life for them ten years later. A second chance romance, that I couldn’t put down. My emotions where everywhere. At times I wanted to slap Hollis, my heart broke for Bowie and then I cried. Throughout the story, you get to see how you can never get over your first love, heartbreak and how everything in the end comes around full circle- even when we don’t understand it at the time.
I’m certainly looking forward to reading more books by this author.
Bowie his life was messed up in the time of a few months. His girlfriend Hollis ran away without telling him after her parents and brother were killed. She wasn't there for him like he was there always for her, when his mother lost the fight against cancer a few months later.
Now after ten years Hollis is back and Bowie still has feelings for her and she for him. But will they work it out together? Even when somebody from Hollis her past shows up and messes everything up again?
A book about strong love, loosing it and finding it again. Plus put in some sexy man and his brother and you have a really good story. Looking forward to the next part in this series.
The story is so writen that you can feel their emotions thrue out the pages. Highschool sweet hearts & bf, Bowie & Holli thought they were a couple forever, but tragedy happen to Holli. She had to let everything behind and flea her hometown. 10 years later they bump into each other and their feelings are still there. But what will happen when someone from her past shows up and mess everything up ? Emotional, captivating, enthralling, addictive....

Third book in the James Brother series and finally we get Bowie's story the one I have been waiting for after all he is the wild one
Bowie and Hollis have history they had always supported one another but when her parents and brother were killed she ran that meant she wasn't there when he lost his mother to cancer causing him to go off the rails. Now ten years later Hollis is back she ran to protect him from who ever killed her parents but worse she also married someone else will they be able to build a new life together or are they both two damaged You will need to read to see.
Where can I get a James brother????? Bowie and Hollis were high school sweethearts until a tragedy tore them apart. Ten years later, Hollis is back in town. Feelings still linger for Bowie but he has so many questions. Can they put the past behind them to find away to move forward? Or will Hollis' demons tear them apart for good?
Such a good story! I love this series!! And not just because I'm an 80's music junkie either. The James brothers have big hearts, drive fast and love hard. All the characters are so good!
The James brothers are a legacy in the racing world. Each brother draws you in and pulls you into their world as they find the one person who completes them. Bowie has been forever haunted about the girl he loved and lost. Imagine his surprise when he meets her again. The breath halted in his lungs and for the first time in years he was able to finally live again. He merely existed for far too many years as she brings life back into his world. A second chance is something to cherish and he will enjoy every single minute he gets to be with the one who was his first and last love.
Another amazing addition to the James Brothers Series and Bowie’s story. I was completely captivated by Bowie and Hollis’s story. Bowie and Hollis were high school sweethearts, then when tragedy strikes Hollis leaves without a word leaving Bowie heartbroken. Now, ten years later Hollis is back and the old feelings are still there between them. Will they be able to make a relationship work and put the past behind them? Such an incredible story and series!! I highly recommend you read it for yourself, you won’t regret it.
This was my first foray into the James Brothers and Doyal's writing, and (aside from tripping through some grammatical errors) I doubt it will be my last. Bowie and Hollis have one of those heart-wrenching love stories that make you want to believe in true love despite all odds, even as you watch it absolutely crumble before your eyes. These characters ran me through the full gamut of emotions as they cried, died, lost, lived, chased, ran, raced, fought and most importantly loved. This book hit me with a force of impact that I was not expecting, but am extremely grateful for.
Bowie has loved Hollis since he was seventeen and she was fifteen. Her parents and her brother die in a fire. Hollis runs away so she not put in the system. After eleven years Bowie still can't understand why she left and didn't trust him to take care of her. At his brother Axell's wedding he learns she's back in town. Can he forgive and trust her again and does he want to? Hollis has secret , eleven years worth. Can she learn to trust Bowie and let him in?
Force of Impact is an emotional-gut-punch. I teared up so much while reading this fast-paced heartbreakingly beautiful second chance story that was full of heartfelt moments. It has all the feels, and it was easy to get lost in the story of Bowie and Hollis. Love the ease of Stephanie Nichole’s writing style, as she interweaved the past and present of the characters, it was easy to pick up the book and not want to put it down. I can’t wait to read more from the James Brothers Series.
Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you don’t know what’s happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens go buy the book. You won’t be disappointed I wasn’t.

This is the third book in the James brothers series and it was such a great emotional read with great characters that will have you rooting for them. Can the one person who scares you be the one who can heal and protect you? So worth reading and that goes for the whole series.

His life was turn upside down that one night in flashing lights and sirens. She ran away and he never forget her. Now years later she reappears in the last place he expected. Can they make it this time? Can they overcome the last for a better future? See if they will
