Everything was worth it! This was frustrating to read and I could definitely tell why others found it boring because the series dragged on for three years in real-time when it's only 3 days in the manga. I could feel the reader's agitation waiting for weekly or biweekly chapters that seem to be unsatisfying because it only leaves them even more panicked and incomplete, and getting irritated by the loops or restarts. I mostly found them interesting though. You got every other information in every loop and that's fun. But each chapter was short and the cliffhangers were crazy that it must be the reason why they dropped this. By binging it, of course, everything's already there for you and you'll just have to read it. To tell you what, binging this series is really fun for me.
For 13 volumes, the fast beating of my heart won't stop, trying too hard to reach July 24th. It was terribly exhausting but fun! And to reach an ideal conclusion, I could only sigh and smile that satisfying smile. Everything is fucking worth it. And I love this series dearly. No regrets. No wasted time.
Advice: Just hold onto it. Promise, the ending was beautiful and all that you could have wished for.
And I love Ushio and Shinpei relationship, gosh. I love them so much!! I was also kind of hoping for Tokiko and Mio though. I felt a vibe, and I thought maybe there'd be a revelation but my hopes are shattered. It's a waste. But everything else went well, and I love happy endings! So, 4 out of 5 stars as overall rate for the series.
BY THE WAY, THERE'S AN ANIME AND I'M ONLY HEARING ABOUT THIS. I JUST ALSO READ TANAKA'S OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT GEEZ
If I’m perfectly honest the final confrontation between Shide and shinpei/Ushio/Ryunosuko is no doubt tenseful but somewhat disappointing graphically. Fifty shades of grey in a world of shadows isn’t always particularly engaging and some panels are simply illegible.
Did I enjoy this volume less for that? Nah. What mattered most was the ending to be coherent - no small task when time loops are involved- and satisfying and from my pov it was.
I rated this series 4* throughout without hesitation: the plot is very good, intermingling unbearable tension, horror, brutal violence with immediatly lovable characters you never cease to fear for. Some twists are excellent and sometimes gory too. The dialogues in my french translation always rang true and explanations of time loops are remarkably clear for everyone, noobs including.
The art has ups and downs- mostly ups, mind you, but is always extremely dynamic with a very good impression of speed and movement. Some scenes are masterfully creepy, mainly in the first half.
One thing’s for sure: you’ll find this series in my "Best books in 2023" summary.
Nov 22, 2021: That was insane. This is one of the best series I've ever read. I can't remember the last time I read something this quickly. I really hope that the anime does well so we can potentially get English releases of the physical volumes. I'd love to have these on my shelf, and if they existed I'd buy them in a heartbeat. All I can say is that everyone should read this, and since the whole series is free online, you've got no excuse. 😂
Oct 26, 2022: And thus ends my re-read of Summertime Rendering. This series remains close to my heart. I have to imagine I'll be reading it many more times over. And watching the anime again as well. Maybe even both at the same time. 😏😂
This series started out interesting however it went downhill and dragged on a bit too long. As it kept going there were a lot of plot conveniences and deus ex machina and due to this the plot didn't seem natural, more like random stuff happening for reasonings decided on the spot.
This was such a great journey. Summertime Render will forever remain in my heart as a masterpiece. The story, the characters and the art - everything mixed up into such an awesome adventure. I have no words other than, thank you for making this 😭🩵
I really loved this series! I had been in a slump the past couple of weeks, not knowing what to do. Then I decided to read this. It had been on my reading list for a little bit and the anime just recently started airing. So I decided to read it and I’m so glad that I did! There’s some stories that have some boring arcs or just aren’t interesting. But I was sucked in from the moment I started reading. The only reasons I stopped was to force myself to go to bed at almost 3 or 4 in the morning. I absolutely love the art, plot, relationship and character development. I really liked the pop culture references throughout the story (ex. Final Fantasy, Evangelion and a few more). There are plenty of time travel/time loop stories out there but this one just felt different, a good different. And the explanation through it all wasn’t to complicated either. It was detailed yet easy to understand (for me at least). I loved the whole concept of the shadows as well. The fact that the shadows can copy people and objects. People can only be copied once, this was never really explained why exactly, just basically explained a person can only be copied once, then that human is immune to being copied. The fact that shadows produce a false body to interact with everything was really cool and their actual body is the shadow and thats their weakness. With out going into much detail, after everything was solved and everything returns to “normal” the story basically has you make the assumption if this was all a dream or it was a parallel universe. Either Shinpei and Ushio have the same dream or that they came to this “normal” world from a parallel timeline. It’s really up for the reader to decide which. I also loved how relatable I felt to Shinpei. Pretty much his whole demeanor I can relate to and just his personality kinda seems like mine, which made me enjoy the story even more and me feel more sucked in. I also liked how at the end, Hizuru decided to write a story about Shinpei’s “dream” by the same name of this manga! At the end of the last chapter/volume the author leaves a few notes. One basically says that the island where the story takes place is their own hometown! And they themselves haven’t been back to the island in awhile themselves. Which I just thought was really interesting. I wonder if some of the characters in the story are based off of people they knew! Anywho, In the end I really enjoyed this story and it kept me intrigued the whole time, wonder what was gonna happen next! I can’t wait for the anime to finish airing, to watch all of it!

I am a huge fan of TimeTravel literature and anime so I expected something similar to the ending here. But kinda wish they elaborated on that further like Steins;Gate did. But Steins;Gate VN is on a completely different level so it would be unjust to bring that up here I suppose.
Nevertheless, the author did a fantastic job on keeping the suspense, mystery and Thrill alive in every page.

Love Shadow Ushio. Ending is similar to Steins;Gates Movie's R worldline if you understand what I mean. Its happy, but its sad. I'm sad for Shadow Ushio.
This was so good. It was full of suspense and kept me on edge the entire time. Everytime something new was discovered it was always very shocking and unexpected. I really loved all the characters and kept rooting for them. It is currently getting an anime adaption and I can not wait to see so many things animated and to experience the suspense all over again in a new way.
The ending was a bit confusing but it was wholesome, and i really did enjoy reading this series. It got me back into binge-reading a manga series, it's been so long since i did something like that. And i really fuking enjoyed it this time around. Especially since it involved time traveling and all that jazz, my favorite subject when it comes to reading.
WOW, this was an epic conclusion to this manga! I am so happy I read the series, this was addicting as heck! I just couldn't stop reading! We get the final loops, a big big battle which at times felt a bit much (but still was a ride), an epic way to end it all, and a wonderful ending that had me in tears. I would write more but I just don't have the words this time.
I loved this series, I binged this in a weekend and even tho time traveling always confuses me this was so good! and the art is the best, shinpei is the cutest. I may have to get the physicals of these because I will definitely reread this.
Autor oferuje nam tu pełen napięcia finał, czyli dokładnie to, czego oczekiwali fani.
I'm so sad that this series ended but boy was it a fun ride! The timeline was reset way back to the beginning to the best possible ending. Shinpei's parents are even alive. Seeing grown up Ryunosuke actually had me tearing up. And that panel of Shinpei and Ushio remembering the loops was so beautiful. An amazing series that I will read again.

happy ending? Yes but was the ending good? I dont know man everything happened, yet it didnt, yet it did. But even if the ending isnt perfect, the whole manga itself was amazing. For a random buy a 10/10
