The phrase “right time, wrong person” had never resonated with Rori McKnight more than when she found herself involved in a friends with benefits style situation with the last guy she’d seen coming. Especially when that man had been involved with someone to whom she was very close.
Torrid history with former flings aside, Remy Martin had never been more sure about wanting a woman in to be in his life than he was about Rori, her reticence be damned. His only problem was now convincing her that they were worth the risk.
Bonds will be made and broken; secrets covered then uncovered as Rori and Remy forsake all that stands in their way but each other in order to fully give in to the all-consuming power of love.

Rori & Remi had me hooked from the beginning. That opening scene was...... whew chile! When I read the synopsis, I was all set and ready to read about a forbidden romance with a healthy dose of messiness thrown in but, once I got to the heart of the story I was like, “I don’t see the problem.” Rori didn’t owe Elena’s disloyal azz a damn thing. That heffa was nothing but a snake who lied out the side of her neck time amd time again. She was literally a wolf in sheep’s clothing their entire friendship. Yas tried to warn Rori about Elena but, because their friendship went all the way back to childhood, she just couldn’t see her for the jealous and hatin’ azz poser she really was. I loved how Mama Veronica stepped in and had to give Backseat Denyce a loving read about Elena’s azz. She let her know, “You betta get your girl before I do.” Remy has been crushin’ on Rori for a few years so, he was not about to let another opportunity go by without shooting his shot. Past relationship with Elena be damned. He shoots; he scores because he finally got Gallery Girl. I absolutely adored Rori and Remy. The chemistry between them was magnetic and hot. Remy was serving major alpha male sexiness and BDE throughout the entire book. It was easy to see why Rori liked him so much. I loved that the storyline is centered around a black owned family art gallery. The nepotism was runnin’ rampant through The McKnight Center for Fine Arts but, like Boppa said, “The white folks do it so why can’t we?!!!” You betta preach Boppa! Rori finding her true passion as an artist was the highlight for me. I loved how Remy built up her confidence, affirmed, and supported her. He refused to let her fears and insecurities get in the way of her dreams. Rori & Remi was such a good book. I loved the family bonds, the friendships, and the camaraderie amongst everyone. This book gave exactly what it was suppose to give and it owes me nothing.
Remy “BDE” Martin!!! Come through with the grown man relationship after you put your heaux phase to bed!!! Rori definitely got a healed healthy version of Remy and their relationship was everything! He poured into her mind BODY and soul 🫢. I loved their relationship and how he constantly proved himself with actions! Everyone needs a Yas in their life and I’m glad she kept Rori level headed. She was a firecracker and I loved her character so much. El was trash but we all knew that from chapter 1 lol. Home MF Run Nicole!!!
The story was not what I thought it was about. Remy 'I need a drink,' Martin. Lol... The name had me shaking my head. But any way, Remy used to be in a relationship with one, and now he was with another forbidden one this time. Rori was the forbidden one. You all, I did not have a problem with the situation because the other person was unlikeable... It was also a treat to watch the friends of both interact and act like fools. Yasin was my favorite character, along with Boppa. The story showed us about loving without restrictions.
I love the connection between the two of them…Remi was definitely the type of man that is appealing….I love Rori’s cool vibe and even temperament….The two were really cute couple…I’m hoping we will see more from this group…he has some younger brothers that need to find their forever too.
I love a good ol forbidden romance! This one had me hooked from the beginning. This one also shows sometimes you have to choose love for you no matter what the back story is!
Ms. Falls, first and foremost you had me with "all things art." Art is one of my love languages. I loved how you built up to Rori finding her true passion. It took Remy and Boppa to make her see the "light." She was destined for greatness and between the two they were going to make sure she got her "fifteen minutes of fame."
Remy and Rori were the other half of each other. They were so complimentary until their careers were similar therefore they ran in the same circle. It didn't matter what or who was in the past. Let's just be real because everyone has a past. I have to say I could feel Elena's vibe from the very first brunch. I could tell then she was going to be trouble. She proved that to be true. I was glad Rori was able to see through the fog and have some hard realizations. It took Yasmin to help her see and accept all of them. When Remy decided to let go of his father's memorable ways it was the best decision he ever made. Rori was "it" for Remi and once he latched on to her he did not let go.
This is another of Ms. Nicole Falls' masterpieces. You will enjoy it from cover to cover. You get to meet the family of both Remy and Rori. Each family is unique. Grab your copy and get into this love story.
This was such a fun read. What should’ve seemed scandalous came off as juicy and enticing. The dynamic of the friend group was so authentic. Their clashing personalities made for the right amount of angst. The chemistry between Rori and Remy was so good. They were magnetic. Remy was serving up so much alpha male sexiness. He was downright delicious. Like always with a Nicole Falls book, I found myself laughing out loud at certain scenes. This was a very enjoyable contemporary romance.
Nic shoots and scores!!! Swoosh! This book had all the feels. I mean from page one I was taken aback at the messiness! But then I was feeling like girl yesssss! But there was so much to unpack with the "friendship" and other relationship. The family bonds etc. Also, rolled up in all thos was classic Nicole Falls comedy. I laughed out loud several times. This was a great read. I read it in one sitting.
Wow. This story was not AT ALL how I was thinking when I read that first chapter. That opening scene was HAWT AF and I was all in despite the perceived messiness. But as the story really unfolded and ALL the layers peeled back, this was nothing underhanded or messy, but really about timing and kismet. Rori and Remy were meant to be. Period. The way their story started was unconventional, but their love was no less pure or beautiful. I hope we get some more stories out of this friends/family group because I really enjoyed them. Great job as always, NF!👏🏾🙌🏾❤️
Remy and Rori are so Hot together. This book had me hooked from the very first page. I was up all night reading this book. I couldn't put it down and was upset when it was over. Two person that have been crushing on each other for years finally get a chance at love. They both have people from their past and present trying to keep them apart. In the end they work hard to be together. I hope Yas gets here on Story she was funny as hell and kept it real with Rori.
This was a cute read. I felt like there was a hint of a forbidden love trope here. I mean dating your “best friends” man is LAYERED but it was done well here. I enjoyed Remi’s persistence, his ability to come at Rori in the ways she needed and he didn’t let up.
I absolutely love the whole black owned gallery. Loved the dialogue between Remy and Rori. The whole complete black man for me. The family dynamics of each character. Loved the flow of the book. Just a refreshing read.
Just ok in my opinion. There was no excitement or intrigue provided with this read. I kept reading waiting for that crescendo that never took place and when I found myself at the Epilogue, I turned back a few pages and subconsciously asked myself, “Is this it?”
At first, I wasn't feeling this book. I was skeptical about this whole 'messing with my best friends ex behind her back' situation, until I got a clear understanding of what the full scope of the situation was and yeah, Rori had every right to be with Remy, "best friend" be damned😒.
Let's start with Rori. She was on go for letting others know where the door was when they were bringing negative energy into her space, yet she didn't for her "best friend" Elena. I knew something was up when Rori was so adamant about this thing that was blossoming between her and Remy, be a secret when she usually told her friends, Yasin at least, about whomever she was dating. Given that her relationship with Remy was mostly physical, they were getting super close and since she'd already had this crush on him, that should've been a prime reason to share it with her closest friends. Elena was so evil for using Remy, after finding out that Rori was into him, and then acting like he was so into her. Homegirl was delusional and jealous, yet it never was clear what exactly her issue was with Rori. Rori being from a wealthy family shouldn't have been an issue bc Rori didn't flaunt or taunt her wealth, neither did her family. The fact that Elena had this one sided beef was beyond me and I'm glad Rori let her and her despicable husband to their own devices.
I love that Rori was into the arts. Apparently she wasn't just in it bc of her family's legacy; she actually had talent and I'm glad Remy pushed her to show the world her gift. He had her front, back and sides, and I loved that. He encouraged her, yet was honest too. Give me all the Remy's 😏.
Remy was alright in my book. I love that even with his bachelor ways, once he homed in on Rori, he knew she was it for him. He wasn't ashamed about his bad judgement call in being with her best friend, Elena, years before he and Rori actually started seeing each other, and I'm glad he was honest about that situation. The relationship with his brothers was interesting and funny. I liked that even though they all had different mom's, they didn't see each other as anything but brothers. I would love more on Alain and Gina's relationship. Amaury and Kylain seem like very interesting characters too, so I'm sure any story about them would be a lively one. The whole friend of Gina's causing issues with Remy, when they never dated or anything, was bizarre. She was way out of pocket and I hoped that Rori would've played it better than she did, yet I get her reaction.
Remy was a man of action and I loved his unwavering support of Rori. He stepped up and put things in motion for her even when she was too stubborn and got in her head too much. Remy going to Roris' grandfather was a huge show of affection and support. I like that they formed a bond outside of his relationship with Rori.
We need all the updates bc there was so much to unpack in this story. I'm hoping to find stories on all these side characters as I browse Nicole Falls catalog.
I enjoyed reading this book. I liked Rori and Remy. I thought they were cute together, BUT...I still feel like something is missing. I don't know if it is because I needed more details about certain things that happened or if it's because I felt like Rori and Elena's conflict story line wasn't developed well ( or maybe I Just wanted more of them. Them doing things together, talking. Them getting married and having kids😁)....I am not sure. I felt like Rori wasn't given the chance to go off. I feel like she had the right to go off, with the situation with Elena and with the girl at Remy niece's Birthday party. Maybe it is because I am a person that likes to explain things, but the whole book I was like, so you not going to scream to everybody that Elena is a liar. Tell everybody, not just the girls in your friend group. I don't like books that are too dramatic, but with this one, I wanted Rori to bring it all. Because things were too passive for my liking, I wanted Rori to really check Elena and the other girl at the party.I really was not satisfied with how things went down. Anyway, I want more Rori and Remy.
Rori and Remy were so cute together. I was hooked from the first page. There may have been some perceived messiness but after going through a similar situation myself I immediately understood Rori’s dilemma with allowing more with Remy. I’m just glad she embraced what Remy was trying to put out there and didn’t run because too often it seems women run from a situation that could be meant for their good off the back of some kind of code but when we should run we stay and get hurt. It’s been a while since I’ve related to a character so much in a book but Rori was definitely relatable. I loved the grown folk energy of their relationship and that they talked things out even when frustrated. Remy provided some BDE and did not play about his girl. Most of the sub characters were a joy too but I was not a fan of Elena. Every woman deserves a friend like Yasin because she provided you with what you needed to hear in a loving manner without being overbearing. I can’t wait to see what comes next from my girl Nicole Falls.
I loved this story! There is nothing like a real “grown folk” Love story. Where two people, despite obstacles (Trust and believe there were plenty)🤨, decide that no matter what or who they are going to pursue their love for one another.
Rori and Remy stole my heart . I laughed at some of their conversations and gasped at some of the situations other people attempted to use against them. Every women Needs a ride or die friend like Yasin, who keeps it real with you no matter what. And then every women In love , could benefit from a man like Remy ☺️. Rori had me Cheering for her out loud when she decided to take a stand and not allow her “ frenemy “ to block her happiness any longer .
This was a wonderful story that left me wanting so much more I really hope Ms. Nicole Falls has plans to write more about these two and their amazing circle of friends and family because I really need more of these folks in my reading life 😂😂❤️❤️❤️
I must be honest I started this book not knowing how to feel about the storyline after reading the synopsis, but Nicole Falls set this book up right!!! I absolutely loved Remy and Rori they were two pieces of a whole even with a turbulent start. The way Remi loved Rori through all her ups and downs was beautiful. He started the book giving BDE vibes but as the story progressed, he definitely moved to bae status. Rori… my girl struggled a little bit but her finally being able to follow her passion was honestly the highlight of this book for me. Each character in this book played a substantial part in me enjoying this read… from the pettiness to the supportive this group of characters were perfect for this story line. I would definitely love to see more from Yasin because she was the comedy and entertainment I needed. Nicole Falls has started something with these characters and after finishing this book I’m now locked in!
You’ll miss your blessing trying to honor it. Granted ol girl didn’t either. I’m glad Rori let her next move be her best move, and did not hold herself back because Remy was giving everything he was supposed to give! Dropping off grade A D, BDE, emotional support, grown man energy, and he wasn’t playing no games. I loved to read it. He finally got his “Galley Girl” and he was holding on for dear life. Wasn’t nothing and no drunk hating fool or messy ex gonna come between him and Rory. Perfect match and awesome read!
The girlfriends, the brotherhood and of course the easy comical lines that Ms Falls brings to each story is all on display. Rori and Remy both work in the art world and because of the girl code, Rori didn't want to give Remy any play. Remy is charming and persistent and finally wears Rori down. Something Rori lets happen regularly, until she has to confess to her circle of friends. The result is messy and causes a few waves, but this second chance at love is not in danger. Rori and Remy is light, fun and sexy.
I was concerned when I read the synopsis because I really hate disloyal books and people who don't respect boundaries. I was glad to find out quickly that Rori was not being disloyal at all. I also liked that this book showed it's okay to cut ties with people and didn't give into that toxic demeanor so many people have. I hope this turns into a series because not only do I want an update on Rori and Remi, I want to see Russ and GiGi, and the other brothers find love.
Girl Code…Tuh! This story is very realistic because 1 thing for sure and 2 things for certain LIFE BE LIFE-ing! Loved how Rori kept it cute and grown woman with the BS she encountered with her “friend”. We ALL need to understand that proximity does not force friendship! Yasin needs her own story…can we get the correct pronunciation of these names b/c I know I am butchering them as I read. Anyways Remy and Rori’s love story gives you bold heat and pleasant purity of love and support. No complaints and I highly recommend!
I loved Remi and Rori! How they got together was seemingly messy but they were a perfect fit. I liked how they had grown up conversations and how their friends/family were good support systems for them. I liked how after the initial steamy side of their start, how it turned into a meaningful, lifetime love. Hope to read more about Rori, Remi and their friends.
This book is fabulous! Don't jump to conclusions like I did 😒. Once you get the full story and a layout of what's going on. You will find that these two characters are made for each other. Rori and Remy's story is everything 😍. I'm praying that's some other characters get a book this is too good to be one and done 🙏🏾. As always it is an absolute pleasure reading your books 🥰.
This book was so good I finished it in 2 hours! My play cousin Nic always provides a good read with real characters. I loved that they held positions that are not common in our world, especially since Melanin fuels creativity. But on the real, Remy, that man is magical. Smooth, articulate but still a grab a nuh by the collar quick. The way he spoke life Into her was beyond beautiful.
Mmm Mmm Good! I have had this book on the shelf for a minute and finally decided to start reading! Rory & Remy were everything from the secret spaces to the public places! This is the kinda reading that will have you cheering on the side-lines and laughing out loud at the same time. Friends, family and haters all being handled on these pages. Remy came thru each and every time straight, no chaser……Kudos Ms. Nicole!
I am trying to read as many of the books being featured at Black Book Bash as possible and this was up next. I am not surprised how much I loved it bc I love everything this author writes. Leading me to question why I won’t just read her entire backlist SMH
I absolutely adored Remy. The gentle way he fell completely for Rori was beautiful to witness. But my fav character was def Boppa. His fierce protectiveness and love for Rori was everything!
When it's right its right and there is nothing that can stand in the way. Go on the journey of Remy and Rori, where what naturally would seem to be forbidden is anything but. The support and shared creative passion leaps off the page. More importantly the objectivity of the family and friends, especially Yas is endearing to what was destined to be.
