In this exciting novella, Victory at America Defeats the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor, a time traveler goes back to 1941 to warn President Roosevelt and his military leaders about the upcoming attack on Pearl Harbor. Read this compelling page-turner to see if President Roosevelt and his advisors believe him and act on this information, and see how the Pacific War could have worked out differently. If you enjoy this topic, the 3rd installment of the History Time Traveler series, Saving President Kennedy, is now out on Amazon. In Victory at America Defeats the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor- The decades old questions are asked, what if earlier in 1941, America had specific foreknowledge about the upcoming Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and had acted upon this information? Could we then have inflicted a "Midway like" defeat on the Japanese at Pearl Harbor? In my 2nd book, The Allies Defeat Nazi Germany, November 1944, learn how the Pacific War turns out differently. See if the time traveler can work with General Marshall and President Roosevelt to defeat Nazi Germany sooner, hopefully shortening World War II in Europe and saving innumerable lives on both sides of the war. Not a novel or novella. Instead it is merely an account of changes which occur with early warning about Pearl Harbor. Some interesting, some not believable, particularly about war in Europe. Parts of it read like a Walter Mitty day dream. Hard to make an interesting idea dull but Mr. Jefferson manages it. At least it was free to read via Kindle Unlimited.
This is not a novel. There is no dialogue and so there is really no plot. There is a very well thought out sequence of events but no one exposition. It is really a very intriguing outline for what could be a great book.
A well-researched alternative history time-travel story
First things first, this is a well-researched story, as far as I can tell. The author must have a real interest in military history to come up with something so detailed. The story even has a hint of wish fulfilment. In that respect, it sounds more like a fantasy than sci-fi.
It would have an extra star if it was written with a bit more character. It reads a bit like a news report. It’s a very pared down style and the protagonist is very happenstance despite the fact that he instigated the change in history.
If you are interested in WWII history than this is a great book to read.
I found this book to be an interesting listen. The idea is fascinating and the detail is well researched. I did struggle with how easily the main character convinced everyone that he was a time traveller. I think the top military would be much more sceptical. However as a story it was entertaining and well narrated. Ryan Allen has a good clear voice and does the best with the material. I would be interested to listen to any others to see how the future changes. I received a complimentary copy from the author and am leaving a voluntary honest review
What If? 6 letters and only 2 words, but serious ramifications. Enjoyable reading, a little short on the consequences of time tinkering. I am a volunteer/ curator at a small aviation museum. Beside my desk is a small jet turbine engine for a RC F-16. Wonder what the consequences would be it I could get it back to Pratt and Whitney in 1940 The only item that could improve this story would to have the Battle Ships come in to mop up. Thanks for your work Bill Hodges
Pair phrase president Reagan this was a darn good story!
As retired history teacher I am intimately familiar with the real story of what happened on December 7, 1941. The narrative of the story was Well constructed. Since according to the current laws of physics Time travel is impossible. Nevertheless, By maintaining belief That time travel is in fact possible The story becomes very plausible.
Since history of the attack on pearl harbor Is sadly different, Reading the story truly makes me wish time travel WAS possible! I will look forward to, future installments!
An interesting read, but hindered by being told completely in narrative form. Everything the narrator suggests is implemented by the Americans, and everything works perfectly. I don't think any war has ever worked that way.
Would Hitler still have declared war on the United States after the Japanese suffered such a catastrophic loss at Pearl Harbor?
A tad stiff, good overall story. Have you considered creating some characters that could push and enhance the story line? Not exactly like WEB G., however along those lines. Overall a five for an early effort, I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.
This book is very poorly written. The assumptions taken by the author and totally ignoring what would happen with his meddling of history is unbelievable. Example he moves the battleships out of Pearl the Japanese where fixated on them and would have changed the plans. The Germans might not have declared war since their allies lost at Pearl.
This reads like a story and a news report. Interesting concept, and the question that is unanswered is what g he append in the future if history had been changed. Then, you would not go back in time. All the good fun though.
Fun fantasy with interesting time travel elements. Why not place one in the center of the action. That's what makes the fantasy so fantastic. A little wordy, but interesting vision on revisiting events from the past.
Very optimistic Results ,Resulting from the benefit of hindsight,it was however an enjoyable Quick read. I believe that most people with an interest in the subject matter would Find it an enjoyable read.
Kinda dry, a bare telling of events, but interesting. A minor side note, knowing something is possible is almost as good as having it. So seeing the computers and moving pictures would be a great help in doing it themselves.
I would have preferred the author using his imagination to write a story where the US figures out the Japanese are going to attack and is ready rather than the time machine gimmick. As it was it was a good story. I enjoyed it,
Was okay and a quick read. Not bad as a positive documentary.
I liked the factual reviews of people and timing of events. Made me happy to think of how this could have turned out. Enjoyed it as an intellectual exercise. Wouldn't change anything.
Having been born on the 4th anniversary of Pear Harbor it has always been a big part of my life. Growing up around the aircraft in California added more to my experience.
What an excellent time travel novel where Pearl Harbor was a smashing American victory ! As implied in the novel, I hope more novels are written on the basis of this novel. Kudos to the author !
This is Pearl Harbor as it could have happened if we were not surprised. It’s a pretty amazing story. If you like alternative history stories, you will enjoy this one.
Not a lot of time spent on quantum physics or the mechanics of time travel. Just a neat little story about how one time traveler would advise the military on when where and how the attack on Pearl Harbor could be thwarted
I haven’t read many books like this I guess you call it alternative history. I did enjoy the book, I would like to see a slower timeline and more detailed about some of the things in the book but that’s just me. Going to read the next one now!
Liked the continuity of the plot line and the author's though out process. Fun to read a "what might have happened" story line. Easy to follow and a fun read.
For a short story. A little too generalised and glossed over. All good news and some issues not even mentioned like time paradox. Overall a good short story.
