Talisha Martinson and her crew respond to the distress signal of the SS Revelation, only to discover that nobody is there. It quickly becomes apparent that something monstrous is lurking aboard the SS Revelation, and it's not going to let anyone leave with their life.
Most images of people in space have them floating gently. In this book you are smacked out of your seat with the horror right from the first page. It story opens with a lone crew member scrambling away from the threat, but there is no safe retreat. This sets the scene for what is to come. The reader is let in on how very wrong things are on the space ship and we want to yell to the repair crew, "Don't go in there!". We follow them anyways. Radar DeBoard is a skilled author who knows how to build the dread and deliver a true horror novel. Be afraid. In this voyage of cosmic horror, everyone will hear you scream.
A horror sci fi story with lots of non stop action and monsters, which is a good thing. It keeps you on your toes. Talisha is plucky for sure but I do wish that some other characters had a little more depth. It was a fast and exciting story though.
If you're looking for an action packed story that hooks you from the start with an unimaginable claw, Altar From Space hits the spot! From start to finish, this story will have you on the edge of your seat with drama, sci fi, space, and a new horror that you will never forget. The story is well paced, with characters you can believe in and root for. I immediately bought the next book in the series and can't wait to read more. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed the book. The monsters were good even though they were created by a human madman. Decent characters but with little depth. Would have enjoyed some decent background on each. I see potential with this author. I just got hung up with the madman. Would have more enjoyed monsters on their own rather than those created and controlled by a looney. It takes a bit away from them being very frightening. Oh well, my prob!em. I will read the next book before deciding on recommendations.
Solid debut novel that is the perfect mix of sci-fi and horror.
The author set the descriptive scene and gave us a group of unique characters to root for. The scene stealers were Hector along with some of the cosmic horrors that stalked them across the ship.
The story kept my interest while flowing from one page to the next.
This book was awesome!! It was a good yet quick read i finished in just 2 days. Being new to horror, I'm glad to have come across this author and their books. It gives off Leviathan and Event Horizon vibes, which happen to be my two favorite horror films. I'm definitely going to be jumping right into the sequel tonight!
The thing about this book is that you can picture everything as it’s happening. It’s your own personal movie in your head. The action comes on fast and never slows! It’s a science fiction Shakespearean tragedy of epic portions, but with more gore!
I usually don't read cosmic, sci-fi horror but this book had me hooked and left me questioning some of the things that I desperately wanted answers to.
My only complaint is the spelling errors, but other than that it was such a good read. I can't wait to read more by this author.
This is the first book I've read from author Radar Deboard, but it won't be my last. This cosmic horror story kept me on the edge of my seat. I'll be sure to check out more books from this author in the future. Nicely done!

I hate, HATE dissing on an indie author, so this review will be short… I am a pretty lenient reviewer and normally if a plot is entertaining I can over look a LOT. Unfortunately, this book had one too many issues to over look. D: I don’t want to just rip the book apart. I just want to leave a little bit of constructive criticism.
First, there are too many names that are too similar. There are 2 names that are almost the same. Then there are a few names that all start with the same letter. AND a different set of characters all have same letter of THEIR first name! :/ What? It is too unrealistic that all these names are so similar.
Another super unrealistic issue is that when the space crew in this story get frightened, they start to stutter. Ok….. ok. One. Maybe two people are scared stuttering- maybe… but most of the crew did it. Even the Captain??! :/ C’mon. No way. The characters are all harden space travelers who have had several missions together. Sorry, no way do I believe these rough and tough space crew is going to all stutter because of what they are seeing. A freak out or two is believable, but not this. Sorry, just took me right out of the tension in the story.
There are also some odd writing choices being made. Weird word choices, clunky sentences and some redundant writing. It was just odd and felt like nobody talks like that. D:
The plot is very fun and so are the monsters! I was very curious about what was going on. Sadly the issues I mentioned above are just too many to ignore. D:
