There was something about Officer Leann Holt that told me she was mine. She was apprehensive at first and I couldn’t blame her for it. A cop and a biker sounded like the beginning of a bad joke. Still, I couldn’t let her get away.
After a great date I thought we were really going somewhere but then she practically ghosted me and I didn’t know why. At least, not until I saw her trying to rip her brother a whole new ass. That was epic, and it sure explained a lot.
All I needed was a chance, but would I get it?
Leann
When Ronan Carpenter asked me out, I actually thought he was kidding.
Why would the super hot, older biker, want to date me? I was the crazy, neurotic woman with a whole lot of hang ups and a seriously messed up past. Still, he asked me out so I took a chance.
Unfortunately that chance was destroyed by my overbearing, obsessive, over protective, older brothers.
Did I understand why they were the way they were? I absolutely could, I had lived the trauma that had caused them to freak out over the littlest things when it came to me. Would I be able to convince them that I really did know what I was doing? Or would I lose my brothers so I could live my life?
This is the first book that I've read by J-A Slade. I don't normally like to read books longer than 300-350 pages as most of them can't keep me interested, but Ronan made me glad I went against my usual habits.
Leann is a military veteran and a police officer. She suffered trauma while in the military and once she returned home her three brothers became overzealous in how they tried to shelter her and take care of her. They bulldozed right over Leann after her first amazing date with Ronan, and she puts things with Ronan on hold to re-evaluate how she's let her brothers take over her life since she got out of the military and she takes a hard look at what SHE would like for her future.
Once Leann made her revelation about her life and her relationships, I loved how she started to own her strength when it came to dealing with her ridiculous brothers, her job as an officer, and moving forward in her romance with Ronan. And Ronan, wooooo!!! There's nothing more I love in a book boyfriend than one who treats his lady like the intelligent being she is and puts his woman first by letting the relationship proceed at her pace.
So yeah, I'm a new fan of this author and have already snapped up a couple more of her books to read. :) Yay!!!!!
Leann and Ronan are great together. Leann is a police officer, who suffered greatly while in the military, and Ronan is MC. This story had all kinds of twists and turns that you just don't see coming. You have to read this book to understand the dynamics of everyone in play here. This book is heart wrenching and heart warming. Leann is a true heroine. I love the way Ronan, being an alpha male, steps back and allows her to be who she is.
