A user journey map is a powerful asset that's used to understand how people use our products. It is an essential tool for building websites, applications, and services. By visualizing user goals, phases in the journey, tasks, pain points, and sometimes feelings, a map can help teams build products by showing a global view of the user's journey, bringing stakeholders and product teams together. It can be used to brainstorm new opportunities, fix issues, design new services, and understand gaps within an organization.
This book will show you how to research, present, and use a user journey map. You'll learn:
What a user journey map is, and what it's useful for The different types of maps and how to use them How to conduct user research for mapping How to run workshops How to use your maps effectively
What did I just read? It felt more like a whitepaper than an actual book. In fact, I've read whitepapers longer than this tome. The book is really short: 66 pages. However, this could be selling point if the content of the book is concise and readable.
The former is true. The author hit on all the high-level topics of a user journey. It is also put together in a way where you will feel like you are going through a journey from start to completion. The author uses nice, professional, real-world examples that makes this a practical read and not high-level fluff.
Where I take major issue with the book is on the illustrations used. Most authors make sure that the illustrations in their books are legible. They have to be because the whole point of illustrations is to give extra information to the reader and to support and extend the knowledge of the written text.
However, with this book, almost all the illustration are illegible. They look like screenshots from other documents that got pasted into this book. The illustrations are very blurry to say the least. Thus, these illustrations look more like decorations than anything of real value.
Since this book is quite small and uses illustrations a lot, then the illustrations really should standout. Unfortunately, they don't which takes significant value away from the book.
Muy cortito pero directo y con muchas ligas a lectura posterior muy útil. Tome tantas notas que casi creo que lo estaba transcribiendo. Las compilaciones de Site pointe se ven muy buenas.
