After stepping back into his war on organised crime, Sam Pope travels to East Anglia. Following the path of an illegal firearm, Sam sets his sights on the person flooding the streets with guns and drugs.
Slaven Kovac.
A ruthless ex-mercenary with a brutal stranglehold on the weapon's trade, Kovac is on the cusp of removing his benefactor and ascending to the throne as one of the most powerful criminals in the UK. As he and Sam prepare to go to war, an undercover police officer finds himself on the front line, and in a desperate situation.
As the tension rises, along with the body count, all three men end up on a collision course that can only end in one way.

As this is the 8th book in the series I have completed with several more to go, I decided to give it up. There are very few series where I throw in the towel, but this is one of them. I read 300 books on 2024, and almost 40 in 2025 so far. I grow weary of the scar inventory, the lengthy memories of all who have died and all whom Sam has killed. I am exhausted with the organized crime, dirty cops, and crooked politicians. Bye, Robert Enright, perhaps you should read more to Improve your prose.
Oh my goodnight! Granted it's only a book I know this one is something else. The the way the story goes and the way it's described is like something out of real life, I know there's police corruption going on somewhere in our world usually involving drugs & money laundering.
But it's a brilliant story & like I've said it happens & it didn't just involve just one police officer it also involved those at the top of the ladder. The millions of pounds put away by the drug was vast as well as the drugs stashed away. Highly recommend though
I’ve read this book in two seatings…you just want to read the next page then the next…until….it’s gone. Throughout this book…he just want to be Sam Pope. Under no illusions no safety net nowhere to come from or go to. Good story line…well it could be happening here….the world is a strange place…perhaps we should be looking for a Mr.,Pope to,sort it. Waiting for his next situation…
Sam Pope has once again entered the life he tried to leave behind and find peace. But he knows he has to do the right thing. An undercover police officer has been betrayed by his superior, A weak and cowardly man. Now Sam once again is doing what he does best, solving the problem. Another amazing read in this excellent series. My highest recommendation!! Enjoyed immensely!!
It started with his friends attack Leaving him in a coma, he revenged the attack but that lead him indirectly to a step above were an undercover cop had just been reassigned. Lots of action and more scars and bruises for Sam. He is now truly back to doing the right thing and fighting a single handed war, often wondering where is friend had disappeared too.
This series has kept me reading and I don't want to! The violence is so extreme and yet I keep reading! But, there is so much wrong in our world that its satisfying in a weird way I wish for Sam to keep going.I doubt that there are any people in our real world could take the abuse of the body that Sam has endured. Thank you Mr Enright, I will keep reading!
Sam cannot hide or still for ever. The world calls for his talents. In his mind and on the news. He knows that he will be on the radar of the police again but the job needs his skills and expertise. The police are yet again not in a position to do the job properly or at all so Sam is jumping in. Sam jumps in where fools even fear to tread.
Only bad thing I can say about these books is that I’ve just finished the last one & now have to wait for the next one!!! Absolutely brilliant ALL of them & I was hooked from the first book I have made myself late for work as I have been unable to put these books down! Give them a go I promise you won’t be disappointed!
I started reading the Sam Pope books a few months and I really enjoy the theme and and reading how Mr Enright, the author sets out the storyline and it's an absolute delight watch plot and it's resolution play out and the detail keeps me wanting more. Thank you so much Mr Enright please keep them coming. Andy Bullock
While the story is still a bit of rinse and repeat, this one had a bit more adventure. I’m finding it more difficult to believe all the beatings Sam takes and can still move. I guess Mr. Enright found a formula that works for him. Perhaps at some point, Sam can do more.
Yes Sam doing the right thing and bringing a terrific read through Robert Enright as always. The action, suspense and all round great plotting and writing coming together to keep me up all night absorbing it all like a delicious cocktail.
Sam Pope is back and I couldn't be more happier. The book is fast paced and well writen with a style the fans of the series will come to know and love. Would highly recomend this book.
I find myself living through Sam. I’ve never been in a fight in my entire 81 years, but I love the way Sam takes care of his enemies. Looking forward to the next book.
These books always leave me wanting more and more, every single one a gripping brutal page turner with battered but effective hero! I can't wait to continue Sam's journey, I hope it's soon!!
I'm finding reading of Sam Pope's crusades is keeping me transfixed to my tablet, I pick it up and find it very difficult to put down , very much look forward to the next Sam Pope story.
Another blockbuster from a great author. I hope the stories don't become too 'samey' however. For those new to Sam Pope, read the other books. You won't be disappointed....
Another great action packed read. I have read all of the Sam Pope books in order and have never been disappointed. A big thank you to the author Robert Enright and I look forward to reading the next book, Name Maker. A well deserved 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Actually thought I had given this book 4 stars. Really enjoyed this book but was so frustrated by the number of spelling mistakes I marked it down. Too many mistakes, it spoiled my reading of it. Even the child's name, Eve, was spelled incorrectly and is only 3 letters.
Sam is back in action and discovers a massive drug and weapon underground and while working up the chain he discovers an undercover cop whose family is threatened. Fast paced action packed as Sam works to elimanate the Ukranian underground in the UK. Thanks
Once again I have a hard time putting down this next book in the Sam Pope series. The author does an amazing job of bringing words to life. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Another excellent story in the Sam Pope series. All the usual characters and a very good storyline. Fast moving with plenty of action and lots of twists and turns.Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Really enjoyed it. Was starting to get a bit tired of how much time is spent in the books reminding of us of everything that by this stage everyone already knows, however it has been toned down a bit in this book. Story moves along at a good pace and plenty of action as usual!
Another explosive chapter in the Sam Pope series. New characters, and a clever reintroduction of some old! With the same results. Sam doing what is right.
Another exciting read, another tense book, leaving you drained and just wanting to read more, having to take a small break otherwise I will be in overload!
