We’re back with Carly Phillips for another glimpse into the glamorous world of the Kingston family. We’ve met Dash and Cassidy before in Just One Spark but this is just a little add-on story so even if you haven’t read their full-length story, you can read and enjoy this wee 52 page-r.
Rockstar Dash and his producer wife, Cassidy are finding it hard to connect. With Dash on tour with his band and Cassidy busy in her new life as a film producer, there is definitely something off with their relationship and marriage.
When they do manage to connect, it’s brief - and free of sexy times. Not willing to let the other go, both make the decision to put the other - and their marriage - first.
I liked Cass and Dash from their full-length story and I didn’t feel upset that they were having problems that meant we get this book. Their problems were completely understandable and while I reckon most readers are neither rockstars or movie producers - everyone can likely relate to being so busy and neglecting your relationship.
Cass and Dash both love and trust the other - and both want to find ways to make things work. And obviously, they still have that heat that you would expect from a Carly Phillips novel which translates into a nice shot of sexy-times in this short story.
If you’re a fan of the Kingston family you’ll be delighted to read this little extra. You’ll also be as excited as I am by the potential for other spin-off novels. But if you’re new to Carly Phillips and the Kingstons, then this story will give you a fun, sexy and short introduction that I’m sure will get you hooked. 5 stars.
Just Another Spark by Carly Phillips is book 7.5 in The Kingston Family series and can be read as a standalone short story as this is about a couple trying to reconnect when jobs and life get in the way. You do not have to read their full story, but if you want too, check out Just One Spark first. I loved it!
Dash and Cassidy have their happily ever after. Nothing matters more than each other, but with busy careers, they have not felt the connection they strive for. Dash is on the west coast with tabloids exploiting his every movement. Cassidy is busier than ever on the east coast. Finding time to connect is nearly impossible, even with the best of intentions. I loved visiting these two again and seeing how much they care about the other and what they will do so love and support the other. A great addition to their journey.
Loved catching up with Dash and Cassidy!! I enjoyed seeing that their marriage is still strong even though their jobs was keeping them apart and causing tension. But it showed that no matter what they always came first. Then the incident at the end just sealed their bond. Love these two!!
I just love it when an author gives us an extended epilogue or a second bite of a couple that has already found their HEA, letting us get another peak into their relationship and the love that they continue to share. When Carly shared she was giving us a little glimpse into Dash and Cassidy’s time between their story and the beginning of the Dirty Dare series I could keep the squeal inside. Dash and Cassidy were one of my favorite couples and getting to see them again, even though we saw some relationship problems, was magical. Their story reminded me that though Dash was a rock star, when it came to his life with his woman, he truly was just another guy dealing with relationship issues and needing the support of their bedrock in order to continue to grow their relationship. I enjoyed the playful and painful look into the love life as well as watching Dash’s protectiveness toward a friend (psst Carly maybe we could have that story too?). I also loved that even this short story had a little epilogue to tie everything together as Carly gave us the timeline for their lives together. I look forward to seeing more of Dash and Cassidy in coming stories and there’s no way we could ever deny the heat and sweetness of a Carly story for sure, no matter the length. As always this one had me laughing, crying, and my heart warm with love in the end.
5 Star Review Just Another Spark (The Kingston Family #7.5) by Carly Phillips
Just Another Spark is a follow up novella about Dash Kingston and Cassidy Forrester. If you haven't read Just One Spark I would suggest you read that first. This was an entertaining read that ticked all the boxes for me.
Dash is on tour and both he and Cassidy are feeling the strain in their relationship with missed opportunities to catch up. Although rumors are circulating that Dash is having an affair with his support act, Cassisdy is confident in her marriage and trusts him..
The chemistry still sizzles between them and their marriage is a happy one, the problem is the time that they are away from one another puts a strain on their relationship. Can they reignite the passion in their marriage and actually be in the same place at the same time?
Both plan to surprise one another and we all know what happens when that occurs, it always become complicated. Although a quick read it was wonderful being back with the Kingston family world.
This is just a quick glimpse into Dash and Cassidy's life as they navigate a long-distance relationship while Dash and the band are on tour. Their opposing and busy schedules make it harder for them to stay connected. Now the media is spreading rumors about Dash and their young opening act.
She knows the rumors are false but it doesn't help when she misses her husband.
Thank you so much to the author and Wildfire for this ARC to review.
A quick catch-up, perfect for keeping us in the loop of my favorite Kingston and his wife. While out on tour, Dash has been in the tabloids of late. Due to schedules, he and Cassidy have been missing each other. The time apart and miles are wearing on both; they miss each other. Is a grand gesture in the works?
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
This is just what you need when you miss reading about a couple from a great series. This book is a short glimpse into the struggle that Cassidy never expected to feel when dealing with the interference and lies from the press and outside world about her rockstar husband Dash Kingston.
But like I'd expect, Cassidy handles it all in her stride, as she knows Dash sees no one but her. This was a great catch-up. Although really short, it was packed with emotion and fun and shows the continuing love story of these 2 great characters. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series now.
Spectacular revisit with Dash and Cassidy Kingston. These two are both at the top of their careers and with Dash at the end of the tour with his band and all he wants is to be home with his wife but the paparazzi and their never-ending need to make up stories when there is none there to sell tabloids and the hours and miles keeping them apart is driving him crazy. Cassidy trusts her husband but she wants nothing more than to be with him. This was a short but powerful story that shows these two still have just as strong bond and love as they always had. If you have not read their first book, Just One Spark, make sure you read that one before you devour this one!
A*R*C for honest review with no compensation Received from BookSprout
Just Another Spark in book 7.5 in the Kingston Family series by Carly Phillips. If you haven’t read Just One Spark…read it as it gives you the back story to this novella.
Catching up with Dash and Cassidy is a fun sexy read where the paparazzi are creating havoc in their marriage. Dash is on the final leg of his US music tour and Cassidy is back home working in production a film.
Rumors, tears, angst, family support, friends and love..
Love this little revisit with Dash and Cassidy. This short story had a realistic feel to it which had you connecting with the story with such ease. A story that reminds us that sometimes life gets in the way and we have to look at our priorities. A story that ultimately reminds us that sometimes just knowing someone loves you isn’t the same as showing them. Enjoyed every minute of this novella and getting to revisit with some of the characters again.

ABOUT THE KINGSTON FAMILY SERIES:
The Kingston family is a tight-knit group based in East Hampton, about ninety minutes outside of New York. They might be privileged, but that doesn’t mean things were always easy for them. Kenneth and Melly married and raised a family, but Kenneth was rarely around. His death brings with it a few surprises. He hadn’t been a supportive father, and he was an even worse husband. Fortunately, Melly picks up her late husband’s slack. Loved by all, her big heart helps bring healing as they all move forward.
Book five joins the Kingston clan with the Dare family. It concludes the Kingston matches, but the series continues on with the Dare family line – The Dirty Dares.
The Kingston Family series includes: 1. Just One Night (Linc Kingston & Jordan Greene’s story) 2. Just One Scandal (Beckett Daniels & Chloe Kingston’s story) 3. Just One Chance (Xander Kingston & Sasha Keaton’s story) 4. Just One Spark (Dash Kingston & Cassidy Forrester’s story) 4.5 Just One Wish (Axel Forrester & Tara Stillman’s story) 5. Just One Dare (Nick Dare & Aurora Michaels’ story) 6. Just One Kiss: The Dirty Dares (Knox Sinclair & Jade Dare’s story) 7. Just One Taste: The Dirty Dares (Asher Dare & Nicolette Bettencourt’s story) 8. Just Another Spark (Dash & Cassidy Kingston’s story – part 2) 9. Just One Fling: The Dirty Dares (Harrison Dare & Winter Capwell’s story) 10. Just One Tease: The Dirty Dares (Zachary Dare’s story) IN THIS BOOK:
This is a short story that can be read as a standalone even though it is the continuation of Dash and Cassidy’s earlier story. For the most enjoyment, this should be read following book four.
This takes place nine months before Just One Dare, book five, which is Nick and Aurora’s story. It also takes place nine months prior to Dash and Cassidy’s epilogue in book four, where the couples’ stories intersect.
Accordingly, it would make better sense for this to be listed as coming right after Just One Wish, which is book 4.5, another quick read, and before book five. The placement in the series might cause some confusion.
Just One Spark, book four in the series, was Dash and Cassidy’s story, happy ending included. Their relationship had turned from fake to entirely real when they faced the prospect of Cassidy moving back to L.A. Their epilogue took readers four years into the future. A very pregnant Cassidy was celebrating the premiere of her first movie as a producer, but she and Dash cut out early when her water broke. Their story ended as Dash and Cassidy welcomed their first child into the world.
This story takes a slight step back from the epilogue in book four.
As the story opens, over three happy years have passed since Dash and Cassidy’s fake relationship turned into something real. Dash has cut back on touring, and at the same time, Cassidy’s career at K-Talent Productions has blossomed. They now toggle between their East Hampton home and a Manhattan apartment that is closer to K-Talent Productions’ studios. Cassidy is currently producing her first movie, and it is more than she bargained for. While Dash’s first tour hadn’t been much of a problem for the couple, the same cannot be said of the second. Dash is now a couple of weeks shy of completing a six-month tour, and the couple is finding it difficult to connect. Their schedules make it hard to talk for more than a minute or two, if at all, and they are beginning to feel like strangers. When Cassidy stumbles across more pictures of Dash with the young and beautiful Peyton Jones, his opening act, the rampant speculation about an affair begins to wear at her otherwise stalwart trust in her husband. Dash has never given Cassidy any reason to doubt that he is faithful, and she doesn’t believe the rumors to be true, but at the same time, she is completely disconnected from him.
The couple struggles with the challenges of their careers, but the paparazzi don’t make life easy for them. They support one another to pursue their goals, but there are still difficulties. As the couple tries to find their way back to one another, they find themselves contemplating their future. They face a few light challenges, but they once again find a happy ending.
Note that the epilogue here takes place several months prior to the couple’s epilogue in book four. Hence for a chronological reading, circle back to that book’s epilogue.
Dash and Cassidy are back in this short story offering another glimpse of the couple. This takes place while they are deep into their routine and work, giving a peek at how their careers impact their personal lives.
There are a few issues that merit mention. *Spoilers* First, I had some real issues with Dash here. We are to believe that he is being noble in his protective stance of Peyton, but his first priority is to his marriage. He made Peyton a personal concern, crossing the line between personal and professional. It was inappropriate for a married man. His excuses for personally handling her safety were just excuses – they didn’t hold water. Peyton was naïve and selfish to expect it of him. She apparently knew about the rumors they were having an affair, yet she still insisted Dash not hire a professional for the job. She had no second thoughts about the damage that her insistence might cause in Dash’s marriage. He is a rockstar, not a security guard. With his inability to connect with Cassidy, and with how worn out he was, he had no business expending time and energy on another woman. It was hard to read. Next, I also had an issue with the couple. That Dash and Cassidy didn’t recognize the different circumstances this time around when he went on tour didn’t speak highly of their relationship. It looked even worse when Dash waited until two weeks before the end to bother to make a home visit while his bandmates didn’t have that issue. He prioritized photoshoots and Miss Peyton over Cassidy, and he didn’t have the courtesy to keep Cassidy filled in. Cassidy was guilty of taking on a grueling work schedule, but it appears she had made Dash’s career a priority previous to the new job, and Dash had been supportive of her career. Third, there is the issue of birth control. It was hard to believe that had not graduated, and in fact, it almost made Dash look like he might be contemplating cheating since not many men would not agree to that long-term. Fourth, Cassidy is finally reunited with Dash but decides to help keep the groupies away from her brother Axel instead of staying on her husband’s arm. This is after having recently spent several hours with Axel. I had to go back and reread it – I thought I read it wrong. Fifth, Linc’s pilot was called, but it is later referenced as Asher’s. Finally, a female doctor is later referenced as a male doctor.
There is a slight but obvious timeline issue with this short story. It is said to take place nine months prior to Nick and Aurora’s story in book five (which is also nine months prior to Dash and Cassidy’s first epilogue). That makes perfect sense. It doesn’t take much to deduce that this is the story of how Dash and Cassidy come to conceive their first baby. But it is also stated that this takes place four years after the earlier Kingston stories – which is Dash and Cassidy’s story in book four. But since they welcome their first child into the world four years later, this story would necessarily take place closer to three years later, nearly a year before their epilogue, which is also the beginning of Nick and Aurora’s story. It is pretty simple math to figure out that this story cannot take place in four years but at the same time be nine months earlier than four years in the future.
Fans of Dash and Cassidy will be thrilled to read more about their favorite characters in this short but sweet rockstar romance. After over three years of happiness, the couple faces a few bumps along the road as their careers take off. Finding balance is impossible when they cannot even find time to communicate. As the couple attempts to reconnect, they find that their struggle has brought them closer together. The short story is nicely written. It is simple with a sweet ending. It is written in third person. The POV alternates between Dash and Cassidy. I rate this short story 3.5 stars.
This was a novella that depicted what happens after the HEA. Life continues on and problems arise, but communication helps the couple work through them. Good story that revisits a favorite couple.
Dash Kingston is a world-famous rockstar who is finishing the last leg of his band's American tour. He's exhausted and so ready to get home to his wife. The demands of rockstar life haven't made things easy. Cassidy Kingston thought she was ready to handle life being married to a man wanted by millions of women. Both Dash and Cassidy love and trust each other. Both are busy but miss each other immensely. The paparazzi and the media are affecting Cassidy more than she may be willing to admit. When rumors begin spreading that Dash is seeing someone new, she decides to surpise him and remind him of what he's been missing. Unfortunately, sometimes even the best laid plans don't turn out how you would expect.
This was an entertaining short and sweet little story. Dash and Cassidy's story began in "Just One Spark". Carly Phillips never ceases to entertain and that still held true with this additional story. If you enjoy rockstar romances and even if you haven't read their original story, I do think you would enjoy this. I would recommend anything written by her. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
Just Another Spark is a novella set in Carly Phillips' The Kingston Family series and is a catch up with Dash and Cassidy. Just Another Spark takes place nine months before Just One Dare and four years after the earlier Kingston stories. Just Another Spark is a standalone but I would recommend reading Just One Spark first so you can fully enjoy this novella. When we last saw Dash and Cassidy in Just One Spark they were blissfully happy and looking forward to their future together. Years later Dash's touring schedule and Cassidy's demanding job has created a sort of disconnect between them which isn't helped by being apart for long periods of time whilst Dash is on tour. Having a husband who is a rock star and who is adored by many, Cassidy knew things weren't going to be easy especially when they're apart, but when headlines of Dash with another woman surface and the media speculating that Dash is seeing someone else, Cassidy knows she needs to get her marriage back on track and make what's important to her the most a priority. "The physical miles apart she could handle, but she hadn't been prepared for the emotional distance she felt now." Can Cassidy and Dash find their way back to each other and start making plans for their future? Read Just Another Spark to find out! I really enjoyed Just Another Spark and I'm looking forward to what Carly has next for us in the Kingston Family world. I received an arc of Just Another Spark and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
This was a fun short story, with a slice of life look at a couple from a prior book!
Dash & Cassidy Kingston, from the book Just One Spark, are now married, and both are busy with their careers. Dash is a famous rock star, and Cassidy works in film. Dash is on tour, and he and Cass have been like ships passing in the night. They need to reconnect ASAP.
I enjoyed this realistic look at what can happen after the HEA, and how important it is to recognize issues and tackle them as needed. Dash and Cass still loved each other desperately, and still had wildly hot chemistry, but their timing had gotten off, and needed to be tweaked.
This was a fun peek back into a beloved couple, and I enjoyed it so much! The entire Kingston series was wonderful, and it's ongoing spinoff series, The Dirty Dares, I highly recommend as well!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given. Reviewed by Megan from Romanced by the Book
Cassidy knows not to listen to the gossip channels or read those papers. She knew when she married Dash Kingston there would always be someone out there twisting the truth into something unrecognizable.
This tour however had been harder, they are both having problems connecting. Opposite coast time differences, schedules, even just sleeping has interfered with them having a conversation more than hello and goodbye.
It's a surprise for Cassidy when her brother, Axle the group's drummer, manages a quick trip home. She enjoys a meal with him before he has to leave again, reassuring her that Dash is missing her just as much as she misses him.
He does some finagling with his agent and flies home on the family jet after the weekend's concerts. Unfortunately, fate has something else in mind.
It truly wasn't either of their faults that they are exhausted and only manage to sleep.
As the tour ends and that one really big problem gets handled, Cass tries a surprise of her own.
I love this couple. They are both strong and so totally in love with each other.
Short and sweet and completely adorable! Dash and Cassidy have been married a few years. He has been in his first tour in two years but he’s been away for several months and they’re both feeling the separation. Since Cassidy is now working as producer with Sasha, she hasn’t been able to go visit Dash at the concert venues, as she did in the previous tour.
Even though they have complete trust in each other, the tabloid rumors are annoying, playing phone tag is frustrating, and tempers are getting frayed. I loved how both work through their frustrations, the complete devotion to each other, the drive to finish this tour so they can be together. In spite of groupies everywhere, Dash only has eyes for his woman, he’s not even remotely interested. But Cassidy, so many miles away, fears even while she trusts her man.
I loved this short story! Their love is strong, their chemistry is still going 🔥. Everyone around is supportive and when they do finally meet up, they burn up the bedsheets! Who knew that a rockstar could be so romantic?
In Just Another Park, Phillips gives us a glimpse into Cassidy and Dash Kingston’s marriage after their story Just One Spark ended. Their happily-ever-after is just getting started, but not without a few obstacles along the way.
As a producer for K-Talent Productions, Cassidy Kingston knew what she was getting herself into the minute she married rock star Dash Kingston. The Original Kings are on their way to finish up their U.S. tour and with their fame comes the constant media attention. Although Cassidy is used to the fans and woman around her husband, seeing Dash being photographed with a younger singer still hurts. With their busy careers, it makes it difficult for them to have the same communication like they once had before the tour. The demands on their careers have made their married life harder for both of them. She is still adjusting to her new role and not seeing Dash as often as she would like is what makes her think about their marriage moving forward.
With The Original Kings wrapping up the last leg of their U.S. tour, Dash can’t wait to go home to his wife. Their busy careers have made it harder for them to see one another and he misses Cassidy. But there is behind the scenes drama that could threaten his marriage, especially after finding out that pictures of him and his opening singer have resurfaced all over social media. Dash is determined to prove to Cassidy that he loves her an no one else.
I really enjoyed reading Just Another Spark, it’s a great addition to the series. We get to see how the two navigate obstacles even after their story ended in Just One Spark. There is lots of steam and swoon worthy moments. I would highly recommend checking out the book after reading Just One Spark!
***I received an advanced copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.***
Just Another Spark is a short story that follows Dash and Cassidy Kingston after their happily-ever-after in Just One Spark, with both books part of Carly Phillips's Kingston Family series. While you don't necessarily need to read any of the other books in the series, I do recommend you check out Just One Spark first before diving into this new one since it is all about Dash and Cassidy's romance, while Just Another Spark serves as the "what happens after the HEA" kind of book. Both titles are available thru online retailers.
This was a quick read--like an extended epilogue for the already established couple that is Dash and Cassidy. Post-HEA stories are like bonuses, especially for well-loved characters. It was interesting to see that while our main characters were still very much in love, they were also dealing with issues other couples easily relate with: work, distance, time, and so on. The resolution didn't take overly long, this is a short story after all, and as expected, everything ended happily for Mr. and Mrs. Kingston. Four stars go to Just Another Spark.
Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2023 You don’t often get to see what happens after the happily ever after but I’m Just Another Spark we do. It’s a continuation of Dash and Cassidy’s story. What makes it so real and good is that things aren’t smooth sailing. They are having to juggle schedules and jobs and real life problems. That’s why I loved it. It was great to revisit Dash and Cassidy and their world and it was just long enough to make you feel satisfied but short enough to read in just a few hours. Another win by Carly Phillips did it again
Just Another Spark is a follow up novella following Dash Kingston and Cassidy Forrester. It’s book 7.5 in The Kingston Family Series and I think you will get more from this quick read if you have already read Just One Spark. This may be a quick read but it still has all the feels and it still packs a mighty punch and it certainly ticked all my boxes. Dash and Cassidy are struggling with their long distance relationship, he is on tour and rumours are rife about him having an affair with his support act but even though they are far apart Cassidy believes 100 percent in her marriage vows and she knows in her heart these rumours cannot be true. So when they finally get to be in the same city at the same time will the passion still be alive….. One click now to find out. This is an entertaining read with a few surprises you don’t see coming, I love this family and their partners and I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series. Great addition to The Kingston Family.
Just Another Sparkby Carly Phillips had us revisiting Dash Kingston and Cassidy ‘Cass’ Forrester in this short story set a little after their full length Standalone novelJust One SparkfromThe Kingston Familyseries.
This mini short had us jumping back into Dash and Cassidy’s life after marriage. With both so busy in their careers, that ultimately has them at a distance because of location and time zones. It’s what leads to them navigating through some ups and downs from the struggles they are dealing with in the journey they venture upon. All in order to stay connected and continue keeping in touch with each other.
It should be known, even though the story was told through 3rd person, something I am not really a fan of. It didn’t bother me like it usually would, having enjoyed the story so much so that it had me wishing that Carly had expanded on it by making it a little more longer.
Even withJust Another Sparkbeing a short story, Carly Phillips managed to fit in what was necessary from the romance, a little suspense and angst leading to some emotional moments with waiting to see what would occur between Dash and Cassidy. Thus making it a good and enjoyable read overall, particularly with the sweet, cute and funny moments too that gave it a light and soft feel too.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Just One Night (The Kingston Family #1) Just One Scandal (The Kingston Family #2) Just One Chance (The Kingston Family #3) Just One Spark (The Kingston Family #4) Just One Wish (The Kingston Family #4.5) Just One Dare (The Kingston Family #5) Just One Kiss (The Kingston Family #6) Just One Taste (The Kingston Family #7)
This is more of Cassidy and Dash’s story. This is a short novella giving you more about this couple that were on the book Just One Spark. He is back on tour and it is causing issues with them. The rumors start but who should be believed? The force time apart is taking its toll. Can they bring back the spark or will they lose each other?
This a short story in the Kingston family series. It gives us a little more of Dash and Cassidy's love story. Shows the impact a busy lifestyle can have on a relationship. Cassidy and Dash so love each other, but there is a disconnection. It was beautiful watching these two show what is truly important to them. Things get quite heated up between them. The epilogue made me so happy. I love this little added bonus to this series. You can get Dash and Cassidy's full story in Just One Spark.
Dash is on the final leg of a long tour, Cassidy is busy working as a movie producer, both are feeling the strain of being apart. Connecting with each other has been close to impossible, and now there are rumors circulating that Dash has been cheating with Peyton Jones, his band's support act. Cassidy has faith in Dash, but the rumors hurt, and all she wants is to be wrapped in his arms. What will they do to put some spark back into their lives?
I loved getting this glimpse of Cassidy and Dash, the friends and family around them, and bit of their life as they deal with him being on the road. I didn't feel lost, as I haven't read the series, but I am absolutely adding this series to my list to read. I'm already hooked on these characters!
