Sunrise Cove #3

The Backup Plan

Rate this book
New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Sunrise Cove with a heartwarming tale of three people who are bought together when they’re bequeathed an old Wild West inn that has the potential to pull their lives apart, but instead turns into the gift of a lifetime.

When Alice receives a call about an unexpected windfall, she’s stunned to learn the gift is a falling-apart-at-the-seams old Wild West B&B she once considered home—and she’s inherited it along with two strangers. Except they weren’t always strangers. Once upon a time, they were friends. One is her ex-BFF Lauren. The other is Knox, the only guy to ever break her heart, all while never even knowing she existed.

It turns out their lives are unknowingly entangled because they once separately helped the same woman without expecting anything in return. Years later, Alice, Lauren, and Knox are broken in their own way, with their own history—and secrets— causing them to start out on the wrong foot with each other. But according to the will, they must renovate and be partners in the inn for one year or else lose their inheritance.

Stuck together, they make a list of rules to keep the peace—rules that end up doing the opposite, but by some miracle they find what they didn’t even know they were looking for—acceptance, true friendship, and in a case (or two!), true love.

Jill Shalvis is a NYT, USA Today, and Amazon Top 100 bestselling author of small-town romance and romcoms, known for big feels, found family, and plenty of shenanigans.

If you love small-town chaos, meddling friends and neighbors, sizzling chemistry, and heroes who fall hard for the one woman they absolutely did not plan on, you’re in the right place. Jill’s books blend laugh-out-loud moments with emotional gut punches, slow-burn tension, and deeply earned happily ever afters.

She writes the stories she loves to read: small-town romance and romantic comedies packed with heart, heat, second chances, grumpy/sunshine sparks, and the kind of found-family vibes that make you want to move right into the pages. Many of her series are perfect for binge-reading, and a number of her books are available in Kindle Unlimited and at major retailers.

When she’s not writing, she’s probably plotting new ways to torture her characters, avoiding laundry, or daydreaming about fictional men and the strong, complicated women who bring them to their knees—and then making them work for it.

You can follow Jill here on Goodreads to keep up with new releases, add her books to your shelves, and discover which small town you want to get lost in next.

"You deserve more than to be something easy."
My heart is so full right now, I have missed the feeling of being in a Jill Shalvis induced haze. The Backup Plan is an incredible book. It is the perfect example of what I personally come to Jill Shalvis for; a crap ton of heart, an amazing set up, characters with layers and baggage all intertwined with storytelling that is laced with Jill's signature sense of humor.
In The Backup Plan is the story of Alice, Knox and Lauren who find themselves once again in one another's lives after the death of a woman named Eleanor whom they all had ties to. Eleanor has left them each a third of her inn, The Last Chance Inn with stipulations that results in them all three staying put and fixing it up.
All three characters have ghosts in their pasts they'd rather not face but Jill shows them no mercy. Romance wise, this is the romance between Knox and Alice. My goodness Knox is the perfect guy for our tough girl Alice. A couple Knox quotes that made me lose it: "I'm pretty sure you can do anything you set your mind to." How about this instead-if the urge hits, I'll run with you." You have to read to get the context-but he says the right things in the right moment. Where Alice is all tough exterior and jagged edges, Knox was tender and gentle and understanding-but he had his own demons he too had to face. Their dynamic was so fun to watch unfold.
I adored Lauren. I loved her so much. I love what Jill did with her character. In this small town, having lost the guy who proposed to her (who was also Alice's brother) years ago, the town continues to look at her as Will's Widow. It was beautiful to see her form an identity for herself and find love. I loved that Knox called her "Pink" as a nickname. Where Alice Is all old car mechanic, Lauren was pink hats and highlights.
Jill knows how to give us a strong romance and also friend groups that you can't stop reading as well. This took me back to Heartbreaker Bay a bit but excited me for Jill to continue doing her thing. At this point I believe wholeheartedly she can do anything but she's found this sweet spot with her storytelling that feels like only she can do.

I loved this funny, cute, heartwarming, romantic book. Knox, Alex and Lauren were great characters that were well developed and relatable. One minute they had you laughing the next they had you in tears (the good kind) Oh and I loved the dog's name - pickle 😂 Cant wait to read more by Jill Shalvis...

Coffee Dates with the Backup Plan

First Date: I love the premise for the Backup Plan. Alice, Knox, and Lauren each inherit a part of the Last Chance Inn after Eleanor passes away. Alice is Eleanor’s granddaughter and grew up at the inn. Lauren was her best friend and dated her brother, who died in a car accident that caused a rift between them. Knox’s mom was an alcoholic who worked as a maid at the inn. Eleanor gave him odd jobs and encourage him along the way. Their inheritance comes with stipulations. The three of them must fix it up and have thirty days to do it.

Second Date: House rules and working towards fixing up the inn, blend with each person’s experiences with Eleanor and the past. We see the girls work on their fragile friendship and discover their personalities, weaknesses, fears and secret hopes. We learn Alice crushed on Knox as a teen, but he barely looked at her. I loved the banter, snark and chemistry between them.

Third Date: Alice has said from the beginning she’ll leave at the end of the thirty days and it was interesting to see the three of them work together, grow individual and learn about the past through emails Eleanor wrote to her sister. I was fully invested from Lauren’s budding romance with a local to the slow-burning, give and take romance developing between Knox and Alice that was red hot.

Fans of small-town romances will devour this one. It had all the elements I love in a Shalvis novel. It’s the perfect read for a snowy Sunday afternoon by the fire. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Jill Shalvis does it again! I loved this. The combo of friendship between Alice and Lauren and relationship with Alice and Knox, with the added benefit of Eleanor's letters plus the trauma, had me laughing and crying and loving every second of this book. Perfect, perfect, perfect! Roll on book 4 😍

I really enjoyed this book! Alice, Lauren, and Knox were all wonderful characters that were easy to root for. All 3 of these characters had a lot of issues from their past to deal with and it was great watching them learn to connect with and support each other. There was just enough romance woven into the story to keep things very interesting. I am really glad that I decided to pick this one up!

Alice, Lauren, and Knox knew each other when they were younger and have been brought back together when they jointly inherit property from a woman they are all connected to, Eleanor. Alice and Lauren were best friends as kids but things fell apart and Alice left town years ago just like she is eager to do now. Alice had a crush on Knox as a kid but he didn’t seem to know she existed back then.

I loved watching Alice, Lauren, and Knox work together to get the property ready to go. They have a set of letters from Eleanor that helps to guide them through some of the issues that they need to deal with. I really enjoyed the fact that we get not just one but two romances in this book. I feel like these three needed each other more than Eleanor could have ever known and it was a pleasure to watch them find their way back to each other.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others. I had a great time with this book and quickly fell in love with the characters. I cannot wait to read more of this talented author’s work.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Avon Books.

Four and a half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒
The Backup Plan by Jill Shalvis is the third book in her popular Sunrise Cove series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. I’ve enjoyed The Sunrise Cove series, and The Backup Plan is a wonderful addition.

Story Recap:
Alice, Knox, and Lauren each inherit a part of the Last Chance Inn after Eleneour passes away. Alice and Lauren used to be best friends until an incident caused a rift, and they have never spoken to each other since. Alice had a huge crush on Knox for years, but he never gave her a second look.

Part of the will stipulates they must fix up the Inn and live in it for a year. But, with so many secrets and misunderstandings between them, just being civil towards each other is hard enough. So, they make a list of rules to keep the peace while they work on the inn.

My Thoughts:
I’ve been loving the Sunrise Cove series and this addition did not disappoint. I like that instead of just two people, it was three people who inherited the inn. This made for a more lively dynamic in my opinion. All of the relationships are strained a the beginning so that made for some funny moments.

I liked that all three characters had a very different relationship with Eleanor and each have a different perspective of her character. It’s almost like Eleanor was three different women. All three characters have secrets as well as some misunderstandings and it takes some time for everything to come out and for these characters to learn to like and trust each other.

Recommendation:
I highly recommend The Backup Plan to anyone who enjoys fiction. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Jill Shalvis is one of my favorite authors and this books is a great example of why I love her so much. It’s so much more than just the typical romance that follows two people as they fall in love. You definitely have that, but you also have friendship drama between Alice and Lauren as well as all three main characters dealing with some heavy issues individually. There are so many layers here and I loved every single one. I ran through so many emotions while reading this, from laughter to empathy and understanding this one took me on a sweet and heartfelt ride. You definitely don’t have to read the first two books in the series before this one but you should because every minute spent with a JS book is an absolute delight.

Inheriting an old inn forces three childhood friends to return to their hometown and mend fences. I liked each of the three: Alice, a sassy, independent woman who’s been on the go, never in one place for long since her brother's death. Lauren, Alice’s ex-best friend, who stayed in Sunrise Cove, pitied as the sort of “widow” of Alice’s brother after he died. And then there’s Knox, Alice’s teenage crush, who left and went on to start a successful construction business. He loved the inn and Sunrise Cove, but has his own painful memories drudged up by coming home.

The Backup Plan was a low-angst story with two romances, and a second-chance-at-bes-friends with Lauren and Alice. They let time and distance get between them but the forced proximity had them remembering how close they were, how much the friendship meant. Knox and Alice tip toe around mutual attraction while working on the inn, and Lauren finds love at the hardware store. Both romances made me smile.

I enjoyed the lessons they learned from Eleanor’s emails. Some of the revelations they had from them were painful to hear but helped the three face things they wouldn’t have normally.

The story is book three of the series, but it’s not necessary to read the previous books to enjoy it.

The Backup Plan was a feel-good story with friendship, love, and the comfort of finding home again.

The joy of the familiar. Jill Shlavis book feel like coming home - familiar, somewhat funny, somewhat positive and heartwarming. They sometimes feel repetitive and I need to be in the right, kind of sentimental mood to enjoy them.
I can say this was the right book for me at the right time.

Literally about coming home and rebuilding one's life. As most of this author's recent books, this has strong women's fiction element in the sense it focuses a lot on the journey of the leading characters (in this case, two women and one man) rather than just on the romance. Going in with the right expectations, it worked really well for me.

My minor complaint and I think it's something that sadly is common for most of Jill Shalvis' books is gendered language and some not-funny jokes around men/women and traditional views of masculinity and femininity. They just pop up here and there and the story would be just fine without them.

Overall, if you have enjoyed Jill Shalvis' recent books, there is a strong chance you will like this one as well.

5 - "I like you just as you are..." Stars!

Another absolutely outstanding read from Jill Shalvis. The whole premise. characters and story arc had me hooked from the beginning, three damaged souls reconnecting after a years long hiatus, as youngsters Alice & Lauren had been close and admired Knox from afar, but secrets lies and a tragic death drove two of them from Sunrise Cove while the other carried on, but held in a bubble of the past by the townsfolk.

"Attachments get you hurt, so I've developed and allergy to them."

You know with a Shalvis read you are going to be put through the emotional wringer now, and these three certainly didn't disappoint, her heroines are sassy, and generally strong of character, while her heroes the strong, say its as it is but with style types and that merging together always leads to funny, poignant and through-provoking stories. The Backup Plan is no exception and one I'll likely read again at some point in the future, add in a cute dog and there was nothing I didn't enjoy about this book.

I always know what I’m going to get when I open a Jill Shalvis book. And I mean that in the best way possible. I know I’ll get strong friendship. I know I’ll get a swoon-worthy romance. A tough heroine. A sexy hero. Humor. And a bit of sexy times.

The Backup Plan was no different. I fell in love with Knox from the start. Alice won my heart too. This is a great story of finding home and accepting love.

Not my favorite…I could barely finish it. Hated that the characters were constantly bickering. The story had no substance. They all behaved like teenagers instead of 30 something adults. Sorry not good for me!!

GAH … #feelings overload and I loved it!

I was a tiny bit apprehensive going into this book because the last time Shalvis wrote a friends coming back together after a rift type storyline, it didn’t work at all with me, so I kept putting off and putting it off, until I didn’t. THIS IS A REALLY GREAT STORY KIDS!

This story has three main arcs, at least that’s my interpretation, with a sprinkle of other goodness. We have the friendship growth and re-development of our trio, and we have the romance journey (okay, the main one lol) of two of our trio and we also have the individual growth of our trio. Off the cuff, that might sound like a lot to tackle in any book let alone a book that isn’t 600 pages. But this is what Jill Shalvis was put on this earth to do and she did it spectacularly with The Backup Plan!! Shalvis expertly intertwined all the things without taking focus off of any one thing, and it just made for one of those happy reads that puts you in a zone for hours and before you know it it’s done!

I’ve wanted to live in Sunrise Cove and be a part of its community since the series began and with every story my love grows for the people exponentially! I want to be their friend and neighbor and just be a part of the happiness! *happy sigh* But alas, it’s a fictional town so I settle for getting lost in it for a few hours with every story Shalvis adds to it!

*I received a free copy of The Backup Plan. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review which is honest and unbiased.*

The Backup Plan just made me feel everything! I loved the characters, their pasts, their different personalities, and the way healing the inn somehow also started to heal them.

Shalvis is a master of feel-good romances, but that does not at all mean that she shies away from more serious or difficult subjects in her novels.

If you are looking for a cozy Hallmark movie in book form then this is it! You get three people having to come back to their hometown to face their past so they can inherit an inn left to all three. Two (Alice and Lauren) are childhood friends who haven't talked to in years after the death of a loved one. The other is Knox who left town the first chance he got after his mom died. All three had extremely selfish and in some cases terrible childhoods, but they all had one thing in common... Elanor. She was the owner of the inn and in the case of Alice and Knox played a vital role to the two when they were growing up.

I think this book is really good at showing how trauma can have a lasting impact on people and how those people deal with those traumas in very different ways. I loved watching Alice and Knox lean on each other and grow stronger together. I loved see Lauren start to break out of her shell and become a woman she thought she lost years ago. This book isn't just a romance, its a book about healing.

When Eleanor passes away she leaves her Inn in Sunrise Cove to her three favorite people, Alice, Lauren and Knox. Each of them have affected her life in some way. When they all come together to fix up The Old Wild West Last Chance Inn to prepare for visitors, once again their time together brings up old memories good and bad. They all discover facts about each other they never knew.

This was book three in the Sunrise Cove series, I didn't read the first two, but I plan on it. I really liked THE BACKUP PLAN. Jill Shalvis is a great story teller!! I loved the emails written at the beginning of the chapters by Eleanor and how each character grew by the end of the story. Of course there was some romance added in to make it a perfect read. I highly recommend adding this to your reading list.

Jill Shalvis is an amazing author and this is another book you're going to love of hers.
Knox, Alice and Lauren each have complicated pasts. Pasts that need to be dealt with head on so they can grieve, forgive and move forward.
I LOVE that Jill Shalvis puts an animal or several in her books. This story has a dog named Pickle and if you're anything like me (an animal lover) then you'll be falling in love with him just as much as the other characters in this beautifully written book.
It's heartfelt and at times hilarious. A book you won't want to put down and one I highly recommend.

THANK YOU to Avon and Harper Voyager, Jill Shalvis and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this ARC.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Jill Shalvis takes us back to Sunrise Cove in her newest novel, The Backup Plan. As an avid reader of the series, I went into The Backup Plan with high expectations. Shalvis did not disappoint. The Backup Plan delivers a delightful mix of friendship, romance and humour designed to keep the reader entertained  from start to finish.

The Backup Plan had everything I've come to expect from Shalvis. This installment of the Sunrise Cove series introduces readers to Knox, Alice and Lauren. All three had a connection to Sunset Cove through the owner of the Last Chance Inn. Circumstances saw them going their separate ways and since then had no contact with each other. However, when Eleanor, the owner of the Inn passed away and left them each a third of the property their past collided with their present.

It was fascinating to see the three protagonists navigate their way through the secrets and misunderstandings of the past. This led to several emotional scenes. However, it was not all teary eyed moments. Shalvis infused humour in some of the situations leading to laugh out loud moments. It is easy for one to see they all cared for each other but painful and memories hindered the healing process.

The trio, although far from perfect were great characters and I enjoyed getting to know them. Eleanor may have passed but her impact was felt throughout the story. From the way she arranged their reunion, forcing them to face their fears, to the emails she had written providing insight into her personality and past actions.

The romance featured in The Backup Plan is of the slow burn variety. Now Alice had a crush on Knox in the past, but he didn't feel the same way until now. They both have the chance to pursue the feelings brewing between them. However, Alice's penchant to run and hide from her feelings placed their budding romance at risk. Knox's patience, however proved to be their saving grace. The story also delivered an endearing secondary romance served on the side, which made me happy for Lauren.

As expected Shalvis delivered an entertaining story featuring relatable and endearing characters served up with not one but two romances designed to warm the heart. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

Alice gets a call saying that someone she once knew has died and they have left her a third of A Wild West B&B. The two other people who inherited along with her are her once best friend and the guy sho broke her heart. They soon learn their lives are now going to be entangled because they have to agree on what to do with their inheritance. Being stuck together isn't something they want so they decide to make a list of rules to help them all get along. Alice and Lauren who were once best friends now can hardly be in the.room together. Will the two let a friendship that was once great stay dormant and remain in the past? Will Alice and Knox get past their issues and end up together or has to much time and pain taken over for them to make amends? This was an emotional read that had me crying and laughing the whole way through!

The Backup Plan is a fantastic, smart, funny friends-to-lovers romance and also a moving, snarky fun friendship-rebuilding women’s fiction story. Sounds a bit contrived, right? It would be if anyone other than the amazing Jill Shalvis wrote it.

With Eleanor’s death and her bequeath of her beloved bed and breakfast, Alice, Lauren, and Knox are forced back together. Forced to resolve the differences that drove them apart years ago as well as forced to face some long buried feelings. I loved how Lauren and Alice repaired their friendship and became even better friends. And I loved the adult romance between Knox and Alice. Loved how it developed and evolved. It was just so very satisfying and a delight.

The Backup Plan is the third book in The Sunrise Cove series and only further enforced my desire to live there. Too bad for me it’s a fictional town. Sigh. Guess I’ll just have to live there vicariously through more books in this terrific series. ~ Missy, 5 stars

Jill Shalvis continues to deliver consistently good contemporary romances. This is the third in a series but is a stand alone novel. Characters from the previous book (which I’ve read) don’t overlap. Sunrise Cove is the connector for the books and is a small town on the shores of Lake Tahoe. In this book three people meet up on a set date or forfeit their inheritance. Eleanor owned a western themed inn that once was a location for a shooting a tv series. (Much like you can still tour the Bonanza sets near Tahoe.) She leaves the inn to Knox and Alice who were both kids that helped around the inn in their teens. Both had reasons to leave town and make it on their own. The other third goes to Lauren who lives in town and is Elenors great niece. But Lauren’s father kept her form Elenor and so she doesn’t know her like the other two. The story is more complicated because Lauren and Alice use to be best friends until Alice’s brother dies while he was dating Lauren. Knox is a couple of years older and is the eye candy that was Alice’s teen crush.

All three have some secrets and things get off to a bumpy start. But they agree to work together to freshen up the place in hopes of selling it or have it generate an income for them. They have hilarious rules they keep writing on a wall to keep them in line which of course mostly get broken. There are also surprising emails left to them from Elenor that causes each person to reflect on their past.

I love the banter and friendship between the three whether being snarky or kind. The main romance focuses on Alice and Knox. With as open as the three are when talking about sex it was disappointing that intimacy is closed door. (I’ve read the author before and she writes both open and closed.) Sharing the intimacy with them would help me feel more connected to them and what they are feeling. I would also have liked a little more to the romance for Lauren and her renewed virgin status. But yay Ben!

Overall this book really worked for me. I especially enjoyed the emails and humor exhibited by the three main characters. I was laughing with them one moment and tearing up the next over past issues. And I genuinely felt bad that Lauren didn’t get to know her Aunt while she was alive. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. (4.5 stars)

I have really been enjoying the Sunrise Cove, and I do enjoy Jill Shalvis books in general.

I did like The Backup Plan, but it was not my favourite in the series to date. Don't get me wrong, it is enjoyable, but to me, it just dragged a little bit.

I got Knox and Lauren right away, but Alice's abrasiveness to it all just dragged so long, I even said out loud "just leave then!"

I did like how they all came to their crossroads and dealt with it well, and I liked where everyone ended up, but it sure did take a while to get there.

But this is just me and I am sure they won't bother anyone else.

I do look forward to more of this town in the future.

I’m a huge fan of Jill Shalvis's romantic work, but I really feel she’s come into a perfect season with her women’s fiction, her latest book exemplifying that beautifully.

Three people at crossroads in their lives are thrown together for 1 month. They’ve inherited a Wild West Inn used in a fictional television series from back in the day. Each of the trio has ties to the Inn and the late owner, Eleanor, a woman with as much angst as the pimpliest of teenagers.

Eleanor dies and leaves a 1/3 equal share of the inn to Knox Rawlings, Alice Moore, and Lauren ( Sorry, I forgot her last name).

Alice and Lauren used to be BFFs when they were teens. Then a tragedy struck and Alice left town- and Lauren and Eleanor

Knox worked at the Inn along with his alcoholic mother when he was a teen. Alice had a huge crush on him that she hoped he never knew.

Three adults now, each has a secret and a sad past they’d rather leave in the past. The only problem is, that they have to live and work side by side at the inn for one month. Thrown together now, those pasts are going to collide.

Shalvis writes each scene with emotion and fire you can’t help but wonder if she has first-hand knowledge of someone with alcoholism; if she lost someone tragically in her past; if she ever felt less than as a human being; and if she harbors extreme guilt over an event.

This book had me laughing on one page, crying in the next chapter, and rooting for all three of these wounded, wonderful people to get their deserved happy ending.

Another sure-fire winner from Jill Shalvis. I read it in one sitting because I didn’t want to put it down until I knew what happened. 5 stars.

This latest entry in the Sunrise Cove series by Jill Shalvis is a stand-alone novel. What I enjoy most about reading a novel by Shalvis is that her characters are flawed but ordinary people. They are people most readers can easily identify with because we can see parts of ourselves in each of the characters. As a result, for me, I am immediately drawn into the characters and the story. In this case, we have three people who have inherited an old inn and must come together for one month to get it up and running or they will forfeit their inheritance. And while none of the three admit it, they all have something to learn from the woman who left the property to them. All three characters need to face their past before they can ever move forward. Filled with her trademark humor, this was a book I just didn’t want to put down, just the way I've found so many of her other books!

Review for 'The Backup Plan' by Jill Shalvis.

Read and reviewed for Jill Shalvis, NetGalley and Headline Publishers.

Publication date 17th January 2023..

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is also the third book in 'The Sunrise Cove' series but can be read as a standalone.

I was originally drawn to this book by its intriguing cover and its hilarious sounding synopsis and title. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Headline Books. I have yet to read a book published by Headline Books that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of 26 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in the USA 🇺🇸.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Alice Moore, Lauren Scott and Knox Rawlings. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

What an absolutely fantastic laugh a minute, heart warming, stunning must read!!! Absolutely loved it fairplay!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

The storyline itself was absolutely unputdownable so make sure you clear your schedules before starting to read it!!

OMG!!! I absolutely love, LOVE, LOVED this absolutely gorgeous book!!! I must say it has got to be one of the best romances I have ever read!! I loved the storyline of three people who were so close in the past but have not spoken to each other for so long being forced together for a month and seeing what happens!! It is absolutely rammed full of romance, friendship, arguments, regrets, secrets, love and just absolutely everything you could want in a page turner and so, so much more!!! I absolutely adored that it is filled with lists that get added to and edited throughout making me laugh each time!! I was absolutely absorbed in this book and just could not put it down!!! There was no chance of just one more chapter and I ended up devouring it in a day!!! I cannot wait to get the first two books in the series 'The Family You Make' and 'The Friendship Pact' and just any book I can get hold of by this extremely talented author!! The setting and atmosphere was absolutely gorgeous and I loved watching the Inn getting redeveloped, learning everyone's stories and histories and watching the characters relationships change throughout. It really is one of those feel good books that is perfect to read curled up in front of a fire or lying on the beach. There was a perfect mix of tragedy, heartbreak, Romance, laughter that it definitely the go to book if you want a pick me up!! Watching the Inn transform was a magical experience and I really hope Jill continues with this series as it is one of those I don't think I could ever get bored with!! It is so much more than your everyday romance with the intriguing and multi layered storylines as there is more than just the one. I could go on and on but seriously just get your copy and get sucked in. Your really won't regret it!!

Although this is the third book in the series I had would have had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

It is always worrying when starting a new series as you have no idea who the characters are. It is very important for me to bond with not only the lead protagonists but also any characters that may make repeat appearances during the series too.

An absolutely stunning, page turning MUST READ!!

The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. I absolutely fell in love with the three of them for different reasons and I was absolutely devastated to say goodbye. I absolutely adored watching their relationships and friendships grow and develop throughout the storyline. They each became stronger and learnt so muchnot only about each other but about themselves. I adored the fact that each one of them helped the others out during their bad times even from the beginning when they didn't get along and couldn't wait to get away from each other. Jill made them leap out of the pages and I genuinely wanted to grab them and keep them out. I really hope to meet them all again so please, please, please bring out more books in this series Jill!!! I cannot wait to get stuck in to the previous books and I hope they are in them also. I'm fact I think I'll end up crying if they are not!! Their personalities are fantastic and I don't want to go in to too much detail as I don't want to spoil or for future readers by telling them too much. However some of the things I loved about them were Lauren being vegan (most of the time anyway 😂) as I'm vegan myself, Alice's sympathy crying, Lauren working in a library, Knox being so compassionate and caring, and so, so much more!! These characters, well most of them, were one of the best group of people I've ever 'met' and they will stay with me for a long time!!

A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Jill on a HUGE success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more past and future amazing books. Welcome to my top 3 romance author list!! Here's to your next success 🥂!

Overall an unputdownable, unforgettable, stunning romcom that will have you staying up late at night to finish it.
