Despite their colorful past, Lucille is invited by Mayor Terrance Bradley to a special charity ball - Chadsworth's largest annual fund-raising event. Her Shih Tzu, Vanilla, will be there too. Rubbing shoulders with the town's elite, Lucille is convinced that the night has been a raging success...until the mayor's new assistant and organizer of the esteemed event, Edna Folsakee, faints right there at the dinner table. When paramedics arrive, to everyone's horror, the woman is pronounced DEAD at the scene.
With shocking gossip relentlessly creeping it's way through the grapevine, Lucille digs deeper into Edna's death and is stunned by what she uncovers.
Did Edna Folsakee really die of natural causes? Or was she murdered at the gala ball?
Tanya R. Taylor is the author of both fiction and non-fiction literature, including two #1 bestsellers on Amazon - 'Cornelius' and the 'INFESTATION: A Small Town Nightmare' series. She writes in various genres including: Paranormal romance, science fiction, mystery and suspense.
BLIND GALA is the ninth installment in the Lucille Pfiffer Mystery Series by Tanya R. Taylor. While part of a continuing series, this installment can be read as a stand-alone story.
The main character is Miss Lucille Velma Abigail Pfiffer, a blind woman gifted with inner sight, keeps getting involved with mysteries, murder and other crimes at the chagrin of the police department.
The annual Gala Charity Ball is in full swing when one of the attendees drops dead at Ms Pfiffer's table. Again Lucille is determined to ensure the police don't arrest the wrong person from the large group of suspects. And as always little Vanilla (plz call her Nilla) is present to steal the show.
If you like a who-done-it that has some humor and keeps you entertained this is it. While I enjoyed this book, I do prefer more "meat" and action in my cozy mysteries. I did receive an advance readers copy from the author and this is my freely given and honest.
Despite her physical blindness, Lucille Pfiffer has supernatural vision, (enabled by her 'familiar' - the spirit of Sir Clement Tucker, who originally lived in her home). This time round she's going to the eponymous gala, while trying to keep the peace between her friends Merlene and Carla, as her cute dog Nilla roams around. Then a shocking event takes place as the fundraising part of the evening gets underway. How's the Mayor involved?

When the mayor's right hand [wo]man is killed at a Gala celebration and fundraiser for a small dog shelter, no one has a clue why. Who was Simone and who might want her dead?
Enter Lucille, Merlene and Carla...oh, don't forget Nilla to try to find out the connection. Do they beat Sheriff Cooke to the punchline? You'll just have to read and find out!
Tanya R Taylor writes short, punchy mysteries that you have to pay attention to or you're never going to figure out the clues before Lucille does. Great 9th book in the series Highly Recommended 5/5
[ Disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
Blind Gala by Tanya R. Taylor is another great cozy mystery in the Lucille Pfiffer series. Lucille and her trusty sidekick friend Merlene are at it again trying to solve a murder. The friendship and banter between the two ladies is amusing and snarky. Add in another player, Carla, who Merlene cannot stand, and you have a dynamic trio!
I received an advance copy of this book and I always review every book that I read. I enjoy the interaction among the characters and how the plot twist and turns and keeps you guessing whodunit until the very end. I highly recommend this book, as it can be read as a stand alone, but it is more fun to read other books in the series.
Lucille is attending the mayor’s annual charity banquet along with Merlene, Carla, and Nilla when one of the guests drops dead. It seems like a natural death at first. When the sheriff announces a person of interest Lucille decides to investigate and make sure the sheriff isn’t making another mistake.
This is a fun cozy with all the usual interactions between Lucille and her friends. I always enjoy Nilla’s attitude. She is such a princess! I received an advance copy of the book but my review is honest and voluntary.
A quick enjoyable story featuring Lucille Pfiffer and her crew, Merlene and Carly. The humor is fun and distracting(in a fun way) to keep the reader from guessing who the killer is before Lucille. I love Vanilla (Nilla), she is so much a diva, for a dog. I would highly recommend it for readers who enjoy an entertaining cozy mystery. I received an advance copy of this book via the author and this is my honest review.
The things a blind mature lady with mind sight can get into, along with her two best friends is appalling at times. Both the older ones are bold as brass and blunt as a stone, but they still seem to get results. Carla the much younger woman just does what she is told, and yet still comes up with some bright ideas. The plot is easily followed and the characters, all of them, are quite interesting in different ways. I do recommend this book and the rest of the series.
The gifted blind Lucille Pfiffer, and her friends are invited to the glamorous charity ball hosted by Mayor Bradley, when his new assistant and the organizer of this gala suddenly falls to her death!
BLIND GALA is a splendid cozy mystery with a cute Shih Tzu and some amusing humors! It’s an entertaining and enjoyable read for cozy fans!
Lucille and her friends are invited to a prestigious gala along with her beloved pet dog, Nilla. Everybody is fascinated with Nilla. Everyone is havi ng a great time until the organizer, Simone gets murdered. Lucille and her friends leave no stone unturned to find the killer and their shenanigans had me in splits. An enthralling mystery with loveable characters and plenty of action.
There is a death at the ball. So many people disliked the deceased, which means there are so many potential suspects. I found this to be a quick read and as per usual, I did not figure out who the killer was.
I loved this story. It's about a blind senior woman who enjoys observing those around her with her special insight. This murder occurs when the new assistant to the mayor drops dead at her table at a charity gala. Great story.
Two wrongs do not make a right! And murdering someone to make it better also doesn’t cut it. As many of the Lucille books that I have read; I still haven’t figured out her super power.
