Everett Stansi had gotten all of his dreams except one. Now that Ava Pearson was divorced maybe he’d have a chance at that dream too.
A treasure worth having is a treasure worth fighting for.
Nothing moves gossip quicker than a good-looking man taking up with a discarded gem. That’s what Ava’s friends call her, a true gem. But Ava can’t see how that’s true when her marriage of twenty years ends. She’s not finding much to shine about these days. Until she finds friendship with a man who really sees her...Everett.
But as their relationship grows, so do the tales. Gossip is fierce around here. And their careers and reputations hang on what those gossipers say. Will the tale-tellers find gold in their story, or trash?
Everett is the only man in Treasure, California, who can see the gem she truly is.
Susan Warner was born in New Bern, North Carolina. These days she lives in the melting pot of the United States, New York. She writes about sweet small-town romance as a way to remember her roots. She has been blessed with four grown children and a man who cares about her enough to understand when the voices start-up in her head, it’s time for her to go to work. She originally started telling stories to her kids to benefit from learning about country values even though they weren’t raised there. As time went on, she found others who wanted to hear her stories. Stories that believe in the goodness of people, the sanctity of love, and understand that forgiveness and compassion make us better human beings. When Susan isn’t writing, she reads voraciously, volunteers to help the homeless and animals when she can, and is eternally trying to get the gauge right in her knitting.
Okay story, not much depth. Needs better editing & formatting...errors pulled me right out of the story. And where was the daughter? She's never named...we don't find out she's a daughter until page 15...and then she's only mentioned as "the kids". Who leaves a 16-year-old daughter with their ex-husband and then doesn't even talk to her for months?
This was a good romance story! It was well written and had a realistic story line. I'm glad I read it. Why I waited so long I just don't know. It's been in my TBRs like forever. It's a tale about choices after a divorce. It definitely has a HEA and I would highly recommend it!
Ava is going through a divorce and her friends come up with an idea to help. They believe that building a new business together will help rebuild her life. Are they right?
Sweet second chance romance. It has one of the quickest gossip trees I have read about. That fact made me laugh aloud multiple times. This is not a deep saga. Just shows sometimes the right person has to wait awhile.
"This story was enlightening in ways I never expected. First, I must say I almost suffer a rage. It's insane how frustrating and mad this story made me. Like I said, it was enlightening because I never realized how lucky I am for having never to experience the annoyance of small town life (gossip) and how it can scr * w up your life and happiness with simple words. A town where everybody is more concern about other people’s life and doesn’t matter if they hurt just to ‘stick-to-the-small-town-rules’. As a big city girl this never happens, thank God! We don't even know the names of our neighbords LOL. Anyway, sticking to those small town expectations can seriously ruin a person’s life. My heart broke everytime Everrett and Ava were tested and put in doubt. Seriously the whole ‘think about the kids and what they’re gonna say about them’ speech of Victor it pissed off and it boiled my blood. NO! I'm so against not being free to do and say as you please to respect traditions, thats bulls*it! The whole town gossip was so awful if I'm being honest. Put the recently divorce girl everybody thinks is at the vergue of breaking and the son that returned to stay…. disaster, problems and lots of food to fed the beasts. Anyway, aside form that, sweet Lord, thank for men like Everrett and his charming, sweet and so romantic words from him. Even though I'm no longer crave for the holding hands kind of romance I want all the dirt* moments this a very sweet and beyond romantic story. Ava was a great FMC and that's something to praise because fresh out from divorce I thought she was gonna be 'crying-for-my-life-pittying-of-myself' type of girl and though at first she indeed was soon things changed and she opened up for a new beginning that included Everret. Plus her son was adorable and so supportive I adore him! So different form my lately stories it was delightful to read. A story that portray the importance of second chances in live, what everlasting love can be and not live to fulfill others expectations. Highly recommended!"
I like Susan Warner books because there is just enough romance and drama to make for a good story. This is the story of Ava Pearson formerly Ava Reynolds. This story begins when Ava is becoming the ex Mrs. Ava Reynolds. Ava was married to her husband Victor Theodore Reynolds for about 20 years. Ava was a loving mother and business partner but her husband had decided that his parents and him knew what was best for their children than she did. Ava had grown up in a single parent home and after finding out she was pregnant with her first child her mother wanted her to come home but her and Victor decided to stick it out and both of them get their degree. Ava became all things to everybody, but in becoming a good mother and raising her two children because they had another child two years later. So she helped her husband with their business which they basically could run from home and a good mother going to all the children's activities. Her husband felt left out. But to me I felt like he felt she wasn't the same person she had married and he wanted her to be. I think Victor forgot that they had children and a business to run and everyone depended upon her. But her children and her husband had decided that maybe she should move out because they were no longer romantically involved. They had basically become roommates. I think the moral of this story is be careful what you wish. I think Victor thought he was going to have his cake and eat it too. He wanted a girlfriend who he thought was exciting and a ex "wife" he could go to with all his problems. I have to read the final book in this series because I really enjoyed this book. I have read quite a few of Susan Warner because mainly springing from the ARC books on Booksprout and I love her plot lines. These books are always a good read. I would highly recommend this book.

I liked Ava and Everett's books. After being married for 20 years Ava finds herself starting over. She thought she had everything a woman could want. She was married to her first love, had 2 beautiful children, and a company that she was running with her husband. However, somewhere in the last few years she's realizing that she lost herself somewhere in between being a wife and mom. Now having to start over she's determined she's going to do things for herself. After all her kids are grown, she no longer has people constantly depending on her and her time. That includes maybe finally taking a chance with Everett. The man who has been her friend for the last decade and seems to see her for the true gem she is and not what he can get from her. Everett has held himself back and kept his feelings to himself for the last decade. He's not the kind of man to move in on another man's woman. But now that Ava is single and he's returned home for good he thinks he's finally found his chance to make all his dreams come true. However, living in a small town the gossip mill is running. Reputations are on the line and an ex-husband is finally starting to realize that he may have been to quick in letting his wife leave. Will their budding relationship survive every busybody in town?

Wow. Ava was dumped by a selfish man that didn't realize how much she did for him until she was gone. (insert eye roll) His mistake left the door open for Everette to step in and he wasted no time. He's loved Ava for years and now he sets out to prove it.
His pursuit isn't enough to rebuild her confidence, but he's not the only working on that front. Her friends, old and new, also have her back and that's the push she needs to see her own value.
Ava was married for twenty years and gets a divorce after her husband cheats on her. She goes about finding herself with the help of her friends. Another friend of hers who always had. Rush on her is finally able to act on it. He is back in town to take over the family busines will they get together? Will rather be able to withstand town gossip mill and old ways? Great story with great characters.

A lovely second chance sweet romance. After divorcing her husband of 20 years Ava is wanting to start fresh with the help of her friends. Everrett has returned to town to take over his family business after his father fell ill and is excited that Ava is now single as he has loved her for many years. But his father and her ex are not making things easier all while she is trying to set up a new business with her friends. Sometimes true love will win, sometimes not.
Love this book, Ava is dealing with the end of her marriage (in my opinion, husband is a jerk) But with good friends life is going to change and for the better. A sweet story about finding your way thru life's changes no matter what they are and handling them with the new strength what she finds along the way. Learning to love yourself for who you are, and learning that there is happiness out there, no matter where it may be or who it is.
Ava Pearson is starting over from a divorce having been married for 20 years and raising 2 children and running a business with her ex-husband. Available and her friend Everett Stansi have been friends for 10 years and he has held his feelings for Ava as he sees her for the gem she really is. But living in a small town where gossip is the norm makes it hard for a new relationship to survive. I really enjoyed reading this sweet second chance at love story.
Enjoyable small-town romance with two major characters, Ava and Everet, who are forced to return to their hometown with deep emotional scars. There is immediate chemistry between the two as they navigate through the quirks of living and falling in love in small-town romance tropes. Wonderful plot and the narrative was an easy and effortless read.
The first book in the Hidden Treasures series a well written story that held my interest until the end. Ava Pearson and Everett Stansi's story that I enjoyed reading, her ex-husband was a man who did not know what he wanted. This story was well worth reading. Ahh, small town romance at its finest. In a small town everyone knows everyone and what everyone is doing. The characters are enjoyable, easy to relate to and realistic. The story captures your attention and holds it until you read the last words.

Susan Warner might have been following me around as accurately as she portrayed the emotions and fears of getting a divorce after many years of marriage. I found myself yelling at Ava every time she allowed Victor to get in her head. This book was almost too realistic. I loved the interaction and support between Ava, Margo and Karina.
Life has changed for her and yet she does not see her as everyone else. Any gossip quickly gets around and he wants to be with her. Will they start? What will others say? Can she see she is worth it? See how they get on

Where there is small town romance there is there small town gossip. After her divorce, Ava with her friends pick up the pieces and tries to find herself. Everett comes back to town to be apart of the family business, being back reconciles his and Ava's friendship. Rumors fly but they overcome everything and come together.
This is Ava and Everett’s story. I enjoyed this sweet small town romance and the fact that this is an older couple. They have a spark that is definitely noticed by the locals which made this a fun and entertaining story. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A sweet second chance at love story. I enjoyed the characters and liked seeing them grow and fight for what they want despite all the challenges around them.
Ava is recently divorced after a twenty-year marriage. She doesn't believe she is good enough for anyone. Then she meets Everett who becomes her friend. Their friendship grows into more and this small town has busy body gossipers. Will their reputations and careers be destroyed?
I cried tears of joy. Some things happen that you have no control over. It was that situation that 3 very close ladies used to start a new company. But that wasn’t their biggest problems. A very small minded community caused rumors to fly and many were involved
this was a first book in this series and i really liked it! she is finally free to live her life. her friends want her to start dating right away. a guy who has always wanted her is making his move. only the town gossip plus her ex husband might come between them. read to find out hat happens.
Wow! This is an outstanding book. Seeing Ava rediscover and reinvent herself after her divorce is awe inspiring. Everett is steadfast in his love and was a joy to read.I highly recommend it.

A sweet, quick read about a women becoming herself again after years of being put last. The story was really good and highly relatable. Definitely a great quick read.
