In the mostly opaque world of executive recruiting, Somer Hackley pulls the curtain aside to unveil the step-by-step process of executive recruiting. Candidates for executive roles often find themselves guessing at what happens next in the recruiting process. This book, broken down into three parts, provides much needed insight about the inner workings of recruiting and sourcing firms, gives clear guidance on how best for candidates to engage recruiters, and than offers a practical outline for navigating the recruiting process.
Search In Plan Sight is an invaluable tool for those seeking executive positions as well as for those in the recruiting business. Hackley shares her own, in-depth, recruiting knowledge and expertise directly and enriches the text by incorporating best-practices and tips from some of the worlds best executive recruiters.

If you going to work with Executive Search for any reason, this is a very important book to begin with. You will get, in plain language, how the process works from this inside, including the roles and motivations of all involved. I wish I had this book years ago!

Somer’s storytelling skills and her willingness to actively listen, brings many interesting perspectives about executive search and getting into executive leadership roles into light. I had the opportunity to follow Somer ’s YouTube channel “Two Distinguished Minutes” where she captures stories from executives with an intriguing question - “Tell me why you do what you do?”. Somer has the ability to humanize the boring and frustrating processes of finding the right talent for executive roles or landing in one. Having been on both sides of this process for the last three decades I can safely say this book provides insights on how to tackle many of the challenges I experienced over those years. Through a series of stories and narratives, she has created a powerful algorithm for anyone who wants to land an executive position whether they are actively looking or preparing to in the future. I strongly recommend this book to those looking for some guidance on landing their next job and even executive recruiters!

Somer is an industry veteran who shares not only her own experience as a career recruiter, but also the experience of candidates she has worked with and fellow executive recruiters. Essential reading for anyone engaged in an executive job search.
