Dissention
Lucina's family is all she has.
The "cough," as people have been calling it, has crept into the world's mind and infected it with paranoia.
Her father develops violent behaviour and "obsessions" with his daughter, the mother notices lurking creatures in their house, and all of a sudden Lucina finds herself left alone, fearful of not only the cough, but also the fate of her family.
With no one to turn to, she leans on one Toh, a neighborhood friend and the only source of normalcy in a decaying world. People start acting bizarre - watching, spying, and running through the deserted streets as if they were fleeing from something...
With only Toh by her side, the world falling apart and the fear of contracting the cough and becoming ill, she races to find out the truth behind her father and the secrets he's hidden for so long.
But it turns out that her only companion also can't be trusted.
The world around her becomes smaller and smaller each day. As dissention grows, she begins to realize that her life was a distant reality and the darkness surrounding her is becoming a home...
Written in quarantine during infection from COVID-19, C.D.C.'s dark tale of a dystopian reality does not stray too far from current events. Cory's work is an echo of the turmoil inside her mind. Like her first novel Bending Reality, Dissention takes a sharp turn toward societal paranoia, and injects the reader with a sense of irony that hits close to home for many. Straying away from a political agenda, this novel is pure terror in all forms. The primary intent is to further spiral readers down a staircase of psychological terror, fear, and alternate realities.

With an extensive background of theatre, I have shot a multitude of videos, as well as acted, wrote, and produced plays. It was my dream to pursue writing--in which I have now successfully written my first work. My goal is to maintain the art of literature, and keep authenticity alive. My works are a testament to the meaning of soul.
