Thank you Ashlyn Mathews, Commencement Bay Publishing, and Goodreads for the gifted e-book.
Evey's homeland is under martial law. In order to reclaim her throne she must travel to Atlanta to find the one man who has the information who can help her.
Griffin is a nightclub owner who is everything Evey's father warned her he would be. Arrogant, controlling, callous.
Evey did not expect for Griffin to save her life or to have feelings for him. Now she must choose between Griffin or her crown.
This novella was lacking for me. The storyline had potential, but it just wasn't fully developed. There were not enough details in the plot. We had to infer a lot of what happened between Rafe and Evey, to Evey's home country, and to Evey's father. I feel it would have been a much more interesting story had the author included these details. The main characters were very flat. They weren't very well developed. There is no spark or connection between Griffin and Evey at all. They meet then all of a sudden they are in love. When I'm reading a romance story I want to feel the connection between the characters and I didn't get that at all in this story. The writing in this novella, at times, was very irritating. Some sentences were written in ways that people just do not speak (i.e. either too formal or cut too short). This novella just fell short for me. It had great promise and a great idea, I just think it needed more pages to be fully written well.
