Is it possible to forget your past when confronted with your future?
Always the odd man out, Jake Nelson abandoned a life of bull riding in favor of becoming a neurologist. But when he receives word that the hospital where he’s employed doesn’t have enough work to keep him on full time, he decides to look for part-time work elsewhere. He’s surprised when a position as a ranch hand practically falls into his lap. The job makes him happier than he’s ever been, but it also brings a lot of guilt and confusion. Can he turn his back on neurology after just starting his work at Alpine Hospital? Or is there a way to combine the two very different worlds somehow? With such deep questions on his mind, Jake can’t even imagine finding love. But a certain radiologist catches his eye, and he finds himself willing to lose both worlds just to be with her.
McKenzie Andrews, head of the radiology department at Alpine Hospital, has sworn off men forever. After a horrible experience seven years earlier, she absolutely knows she doesn’t need someone in her life. So when Jake Nelson appears out of nowhere, she tells herself she’s immune to his charms, dimples, brains, and cowboy hat. Especially the cowboy hat.
A fainting incident prompts her to get an MRI, and when it pulls up concerning news, McKenzie has every reason to forget Jake. But try as she might, she can’t. If she’s so immune, why does she keep having to remind herself that All Men Cheat? And why does her brain insist on thinking about Jake nearly every waking moment?
A heartwarming collision of Western and medical romance, Falling for Dr. Nelson will have you in love with cowboys and doctors. Grab your copy now to escape into this sweet contemporary romance.
A cowboy and a doctor??!! Not to mention handsome and kind… Jake Nelson just might be the best book boyfriend ever!
For the record, I love both these characters, and their romance is so much fun! Jake Nelson and McKenzie Andrews are total opposites—but they’re just what each other needs. Jake, a former bull rider and now a neurologist, has the calm, considerate nature that McKenzie needs in her life. Meanwhile McKenzie can bring enough excitement into Jake’s life to satisfy any “adrenaline rush” craving. But can McKenzie’s heart heal enough for them to find out?
I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read in Andrea Kate Pearson’s Alpine Hospital Romance Series, and this is no exception!
I received an advance reader copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this voluntary review are my own.

I loved reading Falling for Dr. Nelson! It was a great, clean romance, and it had me laughing out loud multiple of times. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a clean, wholesome romantic comedy. It's an enjoyable read that make your day a little brighter. It also had several great scenes and moments. There were several great lines, but here were some of my very favorites:
"Dishes should stay clean after the first time. If she was in charge of the universe, she would have made that into law. The fact that she had to repeat the task over and over again drove her nuts." (Chapter 2) "... she couldn't afford to fall for him... So, the best thing would be never to talk again." (Chapter 4) "Dr. Greyson gave her a very brief "no-duh" expression before turning his attention back to Not-Blake, the hot cowboy who apparently was also a neurologist. What the heck? Talk about a midlife crisis." (Chapter 4) "She stuck her tongue out at him, and he chuckled. "Feeling mature today?" (Chapter 6) "She needed to feel whole as a person before she could be open to a relationship with him." (Chapter 10) "No, I'm an elf. Those are in Star Wars, right?" (Chapter 10) "Please come back to me." (Chapter 16) {This one will make more sense when you read the story. It really tugs at your heartstrings!!}
So funny!! I really enjoyed this story!! I loved the banter between Jake and McKenzie; it was hilarious! I also loved the references to "While You Were Sleeping", what a great movie! This was such a great book, and I'm glad I had the chance to read it. It was so engaging! As I've already mentioned, this book is hilarious!! I also loved the main characters; they were very unique yet relatable. I loved the chemistry between them, and I enjoyed seeing their various desires and anxieties and watching how those played out. I loved the various jokes that were made, I loved how genuine Jake was, I loved how real and honest McKenzie was, I loved the scene about the tissue defects and the decision Jake makes about his cowboy hat, and so much more!!! This is such a great book! I would definitely recommend it!!

I am fascinated by medical romances, probably because I get nauseous at the sight of blood. I can live vicariously without the symptoms.
Jake Nelson is a neurologist and a former bull fighter. When his hours get cut at the hospital he combines his past and his professional goals to work part time on a ranch and part time at the hospital. This also throws him into the path of his work crush, Dr. Makenzie Andrews.
I loved Jake and Makenzie! He was so patient and charming. She was gun shy about relationships, but also blurred out her thoughts often enough to not push Jake completely away. I loved her quirky personality, and the way Jake took everything in stride.
If you enjoy medical romances, or just feel good romantic comedies, this is the book for you.
Content: clean (kissing, no language, no violence, medical injuries)
Book 66 of 2022 — Falling For Dr. Nelson by Andrea Kate Pearson due to be published 5/10/22!!
Okay, I must admit I just love the “Alpine Hospital romance” series. This one was particularly special. I really enjoyed following Dr. Nelson and Dr. McKenzie’s romance.
Dr. Jake Nelson is a lovable and heartwarming character. As a former rodeo cowboy turned neurologist (!!!), he is whip smart and also kind and compassionate.
Dr. McKenzie Andrews is a bit of a “dingbat”. I say that with total love. She is forgetful and a bit eccentric. I enjoyed watching her overcome past pain to emerge happier on the other side.
This book is a sweet romance without any spice. Nothing scandalous here. Just a nice story about two wonderful people.
I can’t wait to read the “extra” part of the story!
This whole series is great. Dr McKenzie, the head of radiology is beautiful and brilliant and totally forgetful. She also has a strict mantra-All Men Cheat, and refuses all dates. Dr Jake Nelson was a bull riding rodeo star before he went to school for neurology after seeing too many head injuries. A cowboy doctor who’s trying to figure how to join his two different lives into one is impossible to resist. He convinces her to “be friends“ and do friend things together. Both of them have medical issues come up and learning how to serve and be served is an important theme. This is a fun, clean book and is a great addition to the series. It’s a standalone but you get to see some of the characters from earlier books. I received this as an ARC.
Odd mixture of characters… Jake is a former bull rider who quit because of too many concussions. He decides to become a neurologist to help other riders with concussions. He takes a job at Alpine and hopes to move up when chief retires, which he doesn’t and reduces Jake to part time hours. Now he needs something else to do when he sees a flyer for part time ranch cowboy, that is his family history. McKenzie is head of radiology, very pretty, baggage of cheating ex husband and very absent minded and squirrely, but brilliant. Jake is in love but she wants no part of dating. Things get more complicated when he gets the job on her uncle’s ranch. Throw in a tumor and an obsession with dish towels. Fun book! I voluntarily read and reviewed the advanced reader copy of this book.
" I received an Arc copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving the review."
This was my first read bybthis author. It was an amazing first read.
McKenzie sometimes made me want to smack her or get give her a big hug. She has been through alot, and didn't want to let love in after being betrayed. She was a klutz, forgetful, Corky. But I loved her
Jake was an amazing support system. Lol where can I get me a him. He was so thoughtful, caring, loving cowboy. The way he instantly accepted McKenzie made my heart swoon. He fought for her love and didn't give up which you don't see to often.
I can not wait for the next installment of this series.
This book was so much fun. I laughed out loud multiple times. I especially enjoyed the characters. McKenzie is so spunky, quirky, and lovable. Jake is stable, strong, and patient. They are perfect together. With these kinds of books, I often feel that the characters (especially the men) are too perfect and not believable. That was not the case with this book. The characters seemed like people I would actually know, and I wanted things to work out for them. I liked that the chemistry between the characters felt realistic. They had some intense kisses, but the writer kept it clean, which I appreciate.
I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Jake knows and he couldn’t be sweeter. MacKenzie is a woman who knows who she is and accepts her foibles, almost too easily, when dealing with some physical symptoms that need to be addressed. I like that they both continue to grow and examine who they are and accept and support each other in their life journeys. Although sometimes it takes a near miss accident to clarify your way. There is a great balance of comedy and life to grab and hold the reader’s attention. Love this series and double thumbs up for “Falling for Dr. Nelson.”

I loved this story! When it started I thought it would be similar to a Grey's Anatomy storyline. But, this was so much better! Jake Nelson is a former bullrider who after 1 too many concussions deceived to become a doctor. Dr. McKenzie is scatter brained and her mantra is 'every guy cheats' after her ex. Jake and McKenzie have a great chemistry. Life continues to bring them together, and they can no longer fight the attraction. Great story and overall a quick read. I received an ARC, and this is my honest review.
I love Kate Pearson's Alpine Hospital series and this book is a great addition to the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the laugh out loud interactions between quirky, forgetful McKenzie and part-time hot cowboy/neurologist Jake with his adorable dimples!! Great as a read alone or even better to revisit some of the other characters from the previous books. I can highly recommend this book if you enjoy wholesome, entertaining romantic comedies that make you laugh out loud regularly.......enjoy.
Wonderful Story with delightful characters. Sweet the way Jake treated McKenzie and took care of her. McKenzie is quirky and clumsy, but oh so lovable. Sweet clean romance that is funny, emotional and loving. I am such a fan of this book and if you like this kind of book you should read it. You won't regret spending an afternoon reading this book.
I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I was fortunate to receive an advanced digital copy of Falling for Dr. Nelson: An Alpine Hospital Romance (Picture Perfect Book 1) for my honest review, but it's currently available to borrow via Kindle Unlimited. This really was a short & sweet book. It was a clean and adorable story about two doctors working at the same hospital who are attracted to each other, but due to everything going on in their lives, decide up front to be 'just friends' and the quirky cuteness ensues.
Both of these characters had CHARACTER….I especially loved the quirky character of the leading lady and the totally unexpected storyline swerves. Mix in some entertaining dialogue and the fun of watching these two dance around each other and you have a page turner that gave you a smile when they finally found their HEA. This book combines some popular tropes in an unexpected way for a great read!
3.5 stars. A cute sweet story. I liked the book, the banter was good. I think some of the humor went over my head or just didn't tickle my funny bone. The plot was good, however the pacing of the novel was a little off. Overall an enjoyable story. * I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Really enjoyed it! Heart warming story of a Dr. that was hurt in the past witch causes her to be very untrusting with relationships. She is a fun, clumsy and ditsy character that I felt gets a little carried away with rags.
Jake & McKenzie are wonderful characters. There are medical and cowboy elements in this story. The story is well written, engaging, and has humor as well. I read it in one sitting. Another good book in the series.
This was a sweet romance that gives you little giggles through out. You fall in love with the characters quickly and cheer on the clumsy doctor and cowboy riding doctor. I mean who wouldn't want a cowboy examining them??? Sign me up.
These doctors were not your typical doctors. A former rodeo cowboy who becomes a doctor and a brilliant doctor who is a clutz and forgetful give these characters a little extra depth. The characters were likable and the story was enjoyable.
This book had be laughing from the second paragraph. Partially because it had so many similarities to my life. I love how forgetful McKenzie is and yet Jake doesn’t mind at all. It is a sweet clean romance novel of learning to trust again after being hurt. I definitely recommend this fun read.
What a sweet read. These two doctors are kinda misfits who go together. McKenzie is a ditz who can’t remember anything and is clutzy. Dr Nelson was a bull rider who became a neurologist. Their romance will be one you enjoy.
But, it’s not really what you would expect. Dr Nelson moves into Alpine Hospital for a neurology position, only to meet beautiful Dr. MacKenzie. But she is still recovering from a bad breakup.
This is a fun story with all the emotions of having a new relationship. Dr. Nelson and McKenzie have a great chemistry and they are both pretty funny sometimes. This is a really sweet, clean romance.
You know how some times you just cringe when someone does something they really shouldn’t? That’s the thing near the end. Thankfully it was resolved quickly, because I was angry in his behalf. Goodness gracious!
I have truly loved each of these books, but this one really touched my heart! I couldn’t put it down until I read ever word. Thank you so very much to the author for such a wonderful series of books. These books read quickly and easily and I highly recommend them.
This was an enjoyable read. The characters had fun, quirky personalities but they combined for a good read. It was a fun read though the characters had issues it was not a book of heavy emotions and a fairly light read.
This is another interesting, emotional, and wonderful story in the doctor series. It was interesting to have the added storyline of the ranch in addition to the hospital.
