Wizards of the Coast LLC (often referred to as WotC /ˈwɒtˌsiː/ or simply Wizards) is an American publisher of games, primarily based on fantasy and science fiction themes, and formerly an operator of retail stores for games. Originally a basement-run role-playing game publisher, the company popularized the collectible card game genre with Magic: The Gathering in the mid-1990s, acquired the popular Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game by purchasing the failing company TSR, and experienced tremendous success by publishing the licensed Pokémon Trading Card Game. The company's corporate headquarters are located in Renton, Washington in the United States.[1]
Wizards of the Coast publishes role-playing games, board games, and collectible card games. They have received numerous awards, including several Origins Awards. The company has been a subsidiary of Hasbro since 1999. All Wizards of the Coast stores were closed in 2004.
My friend was sent this and I promptly borrowed it. I hope they weren't sent it for review because I've had it for quite a while before properly sitting down with it! So here's my review in their stead:
This is great fun if you like where's wally type books, which I do. You can even listen to something else on audio while looking at the pictures and finding the things. I like that some elements evolve over the course of the book (the party joins up, then powers up; some of the monsters forms evolve or in the case of the mimic it's always imitating something) as this adds an extra challenge element. Which is needed because the art is looser and less detailed than Wally art. So on the one hand it's quicker and easier to find things, but on the other I wasn't always sure that I had actually found the thing because the art isn't always detailed enough to be clear. The blobert is particularly hard to find. There is a clear answer key at the back which is useful and some easy extras to find at the very end. Solid all age fun.
I bought this for my niece, but ended up having fun doing all of the puzzles in it by myself before I even had the chance to give it to her. Had me feeling very nostalgic for the iSpy books I used to read in elementary school.
a light 4 stars, but only because I felt 3 was too harsh. I feel like this would've benefitted a LOT from a better illustrator, but the actual prompts were pretty cool (like the invisible guy who you identified via a floating cup) and the scenes were fun.
Fun seek and find with a super D&D theme. Some like the blobert were a challenge to be sure on sometimes, so was glad to have solutions in the back to double check.
