Kathryn Mykel, is an award-winning author of best-selling Sewing Suspicion, book 1 in the Quilting Cozy Mystery Series.
Inspired by the laugh-out-loud and fanciful aspects of cozies, Kathryn Mykel writes lighthearted, humorous cozies surrounding her passion for the craft of quilting. She's an avid quilter who was born and raised in a small New England town.
I got hooked on this series when I read the first three books in a boxed set. This fourth novel features a crazy bunch of characters who plan to perform a play. When a murder occurs, it's important to unravel all the quirks hidden in the theater building as well as the motives behind the murder. The threads all stitch together to make another intriguing mystery in the series (and more information is added to the ongoing thread of the series). I enjoy the characters and the mysteries, so I recommend this one to cozy mystery addicts.
Truly a delightful read! Alex Bailey just keeps on finding new things about Nona that none of the immediate family knew about her. This one reveals that Nona was the top member of a secret society, and that she owns a mansion and theater in Mishap, Georgia! Of course not too soon after Alex and Charlotte arrive in Mishap, they find a body and the search is on for who did it! I totally love that Charlotte finds her knitch in life and completely loves the theater. Alex is looking forward to solving the crime so that she can get back to Salem and her boyfriend. I love the twists and turns to this story. It is always great to see how Alex gets a crime solved with the help of others of course :) The characters are wonderful and I love how Kathryn Mykel spins her stories and keeps a reader turning the pages until you have read the very last one! The storylines she develops are great and I look forward to reading more of her work.
This cozey mystery with a touch of murder is the fourth exciting fast paced and intriguing novel The vibrant, colorful and charming characters draw you in with their mystique and charismatic need for answers to life while the mystery of murder and a secret society entices further a plot is unraveling that will keep you wondering what's waiting around the next corner having you turning page after page with wild ideas of anticipation. This cozey is one that can chase away the rest of the world around you bringing you into the story unable to put it down until you've reached its unexpected and climatic conclusion. Acquire " Threading Trouble " ( A Quilting cozey #4) for hours of intriguing and enjoyable entertainment. Who new quilting could be so dangerous. Kat
Alex and Charlotte had crazy case on their hands when one of the cast members of a play was killed while they were there overseeing Alex's latest inheritance from her Nonna. And there's the ongoing side story of who the heck's trying to kill Alex as a couple more attempts were made during this adventure. I really missed having Hawk in the story as I'm sure Alex was also missing her sweetie.
At least Alex met the guy named Liam that kept being mentioned in the last book. He was the current caretaker of the mansion in Georgia and theater that Alex inherited and seemed to be a fairly nice guy. Charlotte made a major decision while they were there and now I'm eager to see what happens next in the series.
Was asked if I could read an advance copy of this book as well as the other 3 in the series by the author for free and I jumped at the chance as I really enjoy reading books that have handicrafts talked about in them, I binged read all of them in a matter of a couple of days as I couldn't put them down they were so good.
Amazing story lines and well developed characters that carry on through the series so far and you really get a good sense of who they are and begin to care about them and cheer when they do something amazing and cry when something bad happens to them, and is one of those books that I can enjoy time and time again
With more questions than answers, Alex Bailey’s life is embroidered with uncertainty. An invitation to a theater dedication in Nona’s name draws Alex and Charlotte to Mishap, Georgia. With another murder mystery to solve; Alex receives unwanted help, Kibbles finds a troublesome partner in crime and Charlotte see’s an opportunity to take control of her own life. But will meeting Liam finally answer all of Alex’s questions, or will their trip be threaded with drama? I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
This is book 4 in a series of quilting mysteries. Alex and Charlotte head to Mishap, Georgia to get some answers. Liam is the key, figuratively and literally. Murder, attempted murder, secret society, hidden passageways, and mystery surround the theater. A few hints of romance and bounds of friendship keep the characters realistic. There is a resolution, yet the story is left open for more adventures. Definitely read this series in order. I will be reading more to find out the answers to many questions I have.
This is four book about Alex and her friends. It keep us asking question, while giving some answers for questions raised in previous books. This time Alex and Charlotte are finilly meeting mysterious Liam, who is the key to many answers. But do they find what are they looking for, while meeting him? I like how those two friends are portraid and their characters, when we can watch them growing, maturing.
Alex and Charlotte are invited to Mishap, Georgia for the Greta Galia (their Nona)Memorial Theater dedication. This is a story of everything being more than what meets the eye. Within the first two hours of their arrival, a murder is committed. There are red herrings, somewhat creepy characters, a secret society and several random pieces. There is a subplot to the plot and lots of twists but it is a satisfying read. I really liked it.
I am really enjoying the series, it was a bit tough getting started and I wish there'd been more of a physical description of Alex and the others. There is a certain element of doubt I had to put aside, but as I got deeper into the book I began to believe all the things that have happened. I look forward to the next book (I hope!) so we can learn more about these intriguing people. I think the author has done a great job leading us to the anticipation of what's next.
Another great addition to the Quilting Cozy Mystery series! Some mysteries get answered as Alex tries to come to grips with Nona’s death with the help of Kibbles and her best friend Charlotte. Invited to a Theater named in honor of Nona in Mishap, Georgia and a secret society? And it seems like someone is trying to kill Alex! These books are exciting from beginning to end! I am on the author’s ARC team and write this review voluntarily.
As a quilter I can’t resist any book about my hobby. Most are. Enjoyable & pretty much follow the Cozy Mystery scenarios of shop owner finds dead body & is either a suspect or friend is. This series is truly a completely different & unusual both in the plot & characters. It took me just a bit to really get into it but now I can’t wait for more. Nona has certainly left a legacy for Alex to make her way through. Truly an interesting series written well.
Alex story continues in this Book 4. You should read the others first as a lot of this won't make sense without the past books. There is a mystery cleared in this book but it is written as a continuation. Book 5 is on its way.
Quilting is the background of these stories. A quick read of a cosy mystery.
‘Kibbles is a spy?’ Alex heads to Mishap to find the ‘key’ otherwise known as Nona’s Liam. A haunted mansion, Nona’s theater, a bumbling detective and the feline equivalent of Kibbles spice up this story and move the story arc along and we find out just a smidgen of what Nona and Alex’s deceased parents were up to. Another unputdownable installment!
Fun! For us readers at least... Love that Kibbles has a friend in Chirp. (possibly unlikely friend!) Love the theatrical setting. Quite the puzzler, too. Liam is also much nicer than his brother Alastor! It is helpful to read Mutterly Mistaken before this book, too, in my opinion.
The friendship between the characters is genuine, making this a joy to read. The mystery always connects to the other stories and Nona is always present; not even death can stop her. The plot was well paced and I enjoyed the story immensely.
This adventure for Alex was just packed with more questions and answers! It was fun having a different setting for this story. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Charlotte as the series continues.
Alex gets more information that leaves her more confused. Nona was quite the person and Alex and Charlotte are learning more about the grandmother they thought they knew..
Reading Threading Trouble was like visiting old friends. It was fun to get back to Alex’s, Kibbles’ and Charlotte’s world of mystery and intrigue. Another enjoyable story by Ms. Mykel.
Very good read. Alex inherits her Aunt’s theater in Georgia and learns many things that had been hidden from her. One of those things is that her Aunt had a most hidden past.
I have enjoyed this series. Nice easy read. Katheryn is great at descriptions and can really help you picture what is happening both in the setting and the thoughts of the characters.
I feel like these cozy mysteries are trying to be too much, with the whole mafia and secret society connections, especially without much character development along the way. But, they are cute, quick reads, with lots of quilting backdrops, so I will finish the series, for sure.
Fun and puzzling mystery! I enjoyed getting better acquainted with Alex and the other interesting characters. I enjoy the author’s style of writing and look forward to more of her books!
Kathryn Mykel doesn’t disappoint in this, the fourth book in her series. Alex goes out of town and as usual trouble is there to greet her, but she and kibbles work through the knotty problem in no time.
This has truly been a Great book. Thank you so much. It was exciting, sad and Very Entertaining. I can’t wait to read book 5. This is truly an Amazing series.
