When Tony Bianchi meets Rocco's art professor Daniel Willis for the first time, sparks fly but Daniel says it wouldn't be a good idea for them. When Tony leaves Charlie's Welcome to Town party to go check on Daniel and finds him tied to his bed, bloody, beaten, and near death, that's all it takes to bring out the protective instincts in him and make him want the man who did this to pay.
Now, Daniel has had one of the most fucked up lives of all the characters that I've ever read. I felt so bad for him once you get the idea of what has happened to him and then near the end when he finally opens up to Tony and tells him what happened, my heart broke... it was decimated. I may never be able to feel good again after that.
I wanted to cry but I couldn't find any tear because I needed to keep going. Poor Daniel gets beat up so many times in this book that it was ridiculous. I loved the support system he has and how Tony showed him every second of the way the unconditional love that he had for Daniel. He showed him just how much he loved and would always be there for him, and slowly but surely Daniel began to believe him. It was heartwarming to see the transformation and even with the slight hints of bdsm and the past actions that had occured, the overall theme of gentleness and caring won out and Daniel realized that love didn't have to be associated with pain, and in the end, that was the most important thing that Tony could have done for him. This book was one of my favorites so far!! Loving this series!
