Through this book I want to shed some light on the lives of seven immortals in Indian mythology who live till pralay (complete annihilation) in their youthful forms on earth. This will help you closely see how immortality has impacted their lives. Each one of them have unique lives that have impacted generations to come and therefore, worth deliberation. They are stalwarts in their respective fields who were either cursed or blessed with the gift of immortality.

Names of the seven immortals in Hindu mythology are mentioned in the shlok above. The amazing part is that they are immortal only till pralay. There are four time periods- Satyug, Tretayug, Dwaparyug and Kalyug followed by pralay (complete annihilation). The world will come to an end to start all over again with Satyuga. What an irony? Immortal yet not. These seven immortals in Hindu mythology are all male characters from the puranas, Ramayana and Mahabharata who are high achievers in their own fields and have very distinct lives. They have either been blessed or cursed to live till the end of Kalyug. The reason for them being male could be the influence of a patriarchal society. Their stories are intriguing and are unique in their own way. We can learn very important life lessons from each one of them. Surprisingly, they are valid in today’s world too.

Seven Immortals| Immortality: Boon or Curse by Shalini Modi consist of 8 chapters that tell us about mortality and immortality. The author has shared a shlok that contains the names of seven immortals from the Hindu mythology. They are all male characters from Puranas, Ramayana and Mahabharata. But they had achieved a lot in their field and are immortal only till pralay.
Who were those seven immortals and were they blessed or cursed to live till the end of Kalyug?
This is a mythological story and it’s one of my favourite genre. Each story was intriguing and unique in their own way. One can learn very important life lessons from each one of them. The language used is simple and understandable. The title is eye-catching and cover is apt.
Overall, it was a good short read. I recommend this book to all the mythological readers.

"Seven Immortals" Immortality:- Boon or Curse is based on hindu mythology. Where author talked about seven Immortals in hindu mythology like lord hanuman, Vibhishan, Maharishi vedavyas, Mahabali, Guru kripacharya, Ashwatthama and Lord parshuram.
To be very honest I havent read many books on indian mythology . But this one came like a refreshing read for me.
Author has done a wonderful job by putting together the immortals according to the period they belonged. She beautifully highlighted the lives of these characters who were blessed or cursed with the gift of immortality.
Each and every story is well narrated by the author.Moreover author's writing style is also descriptive and elaborated one. Which makes the reading experience more intriguing.
Before reading this book I have only know about the Immortality of ashwathama . So its quite informative one to in terms of content.
Another fact which i liked about this book is that It gave me insight into present humanity. With lucid usage of language and brilliant vocabulary.
Author shalini modi presents the indian mythology in a very interesting manner for today's youth to know about their own culture.
The cover of the book is artistic and looks amazing . It goes well with the theme and concept of the book.
At last , I must recommend this book to all the lovely readers to give it a try for once. I am sure you all are going to love this book.

Seven Immortals|Immortality" by Shalini Modi is a great mythological book that I read this week. This book was a great read for me as the author is written about the 7 immortals of the hindu mythology is amazing. I really loved how Author Shalini jii has written the story in a beautiful way, making every detail clearly. It's indeed a great mythological read!!
The book is quite beautiful and eye-catching. I love reading Mythologies and this book didn't disappoint me. The language used by the author is simple and understandable. I enjoyed this book thoroughly, for someone who is a sucker for mythology fiction, this book was a treat. Written in a simple and fluid language, this book is perfect for a weekend read. I would have loved a more visual writing to immerse myself in the ancient time, yet it was attention grabbing. The author has done an excellent job. Highly recommend.

Seven Immortals|Immortality" by Shalini Modi is a great mythological book that I read this week. This book was a great read for me as the author is written about the 7 immortals of the hindu mythology is amazing. I really loved how Author Shalini jii has written the story in a beautiful way, making every detail clearly. It's indeed a great mythological read!!

The Author has written about Seven Indian Mythological Characters namely Mahabali, Parshuram, Hanuman, Vibhishan, Maharishi Ved Vyas, Kripacharya and Ashwathama in the book. The title tells us a lot about its content. The story teaches us a some beautiful life lesson that will help us in simplifying our future. The way the author presented this book is awesome. The characters are well developed with insightful storyline.
The book blew me away for several reasons, firstly the book has a sweet back cover and the opening is really quirky and adorable. I had the complete opposite feeling after reading the kind of book thought it might be. But in any case, the author's pen deserves praise. And it's a pity that I don't voice his description before reading this book because it greatly reduces my desire to read it. After reading the first two pages of this book, I got a distinct excitement that made me swallow the entire book. Through this book, the author describes the lives of seven immortal characters in Indian mythology along with the explanations for their immortality.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone especially to Mythological fiction those who love to read stories. Grab the book, it won't let you to get bored at any point. This book is a page turner from beginning to end. Language is simple with a good vocabulary. Author has done a great job.

"Religious rituals in Hinduism usually begin with the sthapana (placing the idol) and end with visarjan (immersing the idol in water), which depicts the complete cycle of birth and death."
✓Indian Epic (mythology, as some may call it), is one of those genres that I find most interesting. There's so much to learn and it's all so scientific and relevant. This book got recommended to me and I picked it up instantly.
✓This book basically talks about Immortality and the Chiranjeevies (Immortals). According to the Hindu scriptures, there are 7 Immortals who are going to live till the end of this world. There are mainly eight chapters, with one chapter being completely dedicated to the seven immortals each. You get a detailed account on each of the immortal. The author has made sure that everything has been kept to the point, making sure that it's short and easy to understand.
✓The author has also incorporated relevant quotes from Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. Talking about the title of the book, it clearly denotes what the book is all about. The cover is absolutely stunning.
✓The language is lucid and everything has been explained in an easy way. This is why I would love to recommend it to the beginners too.

Often we may have heard or read about stories wherein the character is unable to die. Hence, defined as the ability to live forever an eternal life, immortality is a theme that is most often seen surrounding fantasy in general.
To those who fear death or growing old, being immortal is something that could completely solve their problems, yet there are many who would see this as a curse, rather than a blessing.
In the book, ‘Seven Immortals’ by Shalini Modi, the author has depicted and narrated the story of some characters from our mythology, who are touted to be immortal, yet there is a twist, as they all come with their own set of woes.
Divided into eighth different chapters, we see that each of the title is focused on one particular protagonist, which begins with a shlok and has a description pertaining to who they are and what it entails.
Right at the beginning of the book, the author has posed the question on whether we would choose mortality or immortality, and initially, my answer would have been ofcourse immortality, but reading the book has surely changed my perspective on the same. Hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The book has been written with an impeccable structure and a lucid style. It’s a page turner. Although a short novella, Shalini Jee’s work brings in a lot of information on the old scriptures of India especially the Bhagavatam, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. The present generation vastly lacks in the knowledge of the beauty of these scriptures and there’s a danger of the same being lost with time. This book comes as a saviour of that beauty by being a short, yet vital introduction to the fabulous works of Vyasadev and Valmiki Rishi. Beyond the obvious exquisiteness of the storytelling presented in the first person by the seven immortals, the content takes a unique perspective of looking at things and people. These perspectives are words of wisdom and dwelt upon properly, they come of much help in the present day social setup where the thin line between right and wrong gets blurred with each passing day. My four stars are because of a lot of syntax errors in the printing which can be rectified with a minimum editing of the text.

Have you ever thought of being immortal and living life alone when all your friends and family have been gone in front of your eyes and you are still there living all alone? But there is a reason behind the boon or it's a curse.
A few days back I read about Aswathamma and we have known from Ramayan that hanuman is immortal, Parashurama had made Prithvi Niskhyatriya but there are more than 4 characters who are immortal. In Hindi mythology, immortality has been given to persons and given a reason to them to live more. The question here is, Immortality is it a boon or a curse? Staying alone without anyone with no one to support, energy is low. Or around your loved ones living a happy life.

This book is a journey for me to the mythological world of immortality and filled with lot of information about the characters. Rig veda is the option to learn more about it.

By seeing the book cover you can identify a character,yes! It is Hanuman and he is the sole reason why I picked this book. I have read a handful of mythology books and i rarely read about him other than the things said by my mother and grandmother in my childhood.
So this book is about 7 people who are related to mythology and they all are immortals so here comes the book immortality boon or curse author narrating every character in a detailed manner and it will throw some light on some unknown facts.
Language is clear and easygoing it made me read without grabbing a dictionary or searching meanings
If you are a mythology lover and want to read some more characters who were less mentioned in most of the mythological books then go for it to read about them and about their immorality.

The Seven Immortals by Shalini Modi is a mythological non fiction which explores the character in the Hindu Mythology who are immortal.
The concept of immortality is that these figures have seen the world through all the Yugas and will continue to be alive to see the yugas that are to come until the complete annihilation happens or Pralay happens.
It was a very interesting read and explores the reasons behind how the first fights started between the members of lokas to attain immortality as no one knows what death holds are afraid to face it.
Each chapter after the introduction is dedicated to the seven immortals and is narrated in their voice which makes this even more of an intriguing read.
Will recommend it to those who want to know more about these immortal figured of Hindu scriptures.

Lives of seven immortals is based on Indian mythology. I am so glad that I came across this piece of art.
And the way author has shown how a boon of immortality changed the thought of living once. You can relate this one with the samudra manthan where there was a fight between the evil and the lords for the boon to live forever. But the actual story is very unique and astonishing.
Mahabali, Parshuram, Hanuman, Vibhishan, Maharishi Ved Vyas, Kripacharya and Ashwathama are the main characters of the seven immortals.
All the seven characters are the most strongest characters in India mythological story and so have been for this pretty one.
Amazing lines I loved the flow of this book and definitely would recommend to all.

Seven Immortals was a fantastic read. I have always wanted to venture into lesser known facts about Indian Mythology. Information or legends who are not mainstream but have a great standing in our mythology.
The seven Immortals are such figures. I knew three of them which made me excited to read more about them which were Lord Hanuman, the loyal aide of Shri Ram; Vibhishan, brother of the evil king Ravan and Ashwatthaama, the son of Dronacharya.
Through stories I already knew the reason for Lord Hanuman being an immortal, he is the guide for every reincarnation of Lord Vishnu. But it was interesting to know why all the other six Immortals were, well Immortals.
The book is short and very interesting for mythological readers.
