This was a very enjoyable read! This follows Bria who is just starting college with her roommate Dallas. She gets an opportunity to study abroad in Italy for art, but needs $5K to go. While figuring out how to get the money, she is also trying to navigate life at school and her personal life. She dumps her boyfriend Dax(finally) who just cheated one too many times on her and took advantage of her smarts. She meets a boy called Rune one night at a club and he asks for her number to meet up with her another day. When they do meet, turns out he had other plans for her. He offers to help her get the money she needs if she helps him by pretending to be his girlfriend when he goes home for his birthday in two months to stop his mother from trying to set him up with someone else to marry. Bria needs the money and agrees to help, not realizing what she's actually getting herself into.
I really loved the uniqueness of this book. It's an urban fantasy, and a unique way of introducing Fae into the world. They basically live amongst us in secret, and there are the Land Fae and Water Fae, and then many different kinds amongst those main Fae. They each have different powers and have the ability to be in a human form, their Fae form, and full animal form. One of my favorite scenes in this book is when Bria meets and learns about the Fae. I just find it hilarious, her reaction, their reaction, and the overall experience is just great!
There are many fun characters in this book. I would say Dallas is my favorite. Her and Bria's friendship is golden to me! They clearly care about each other a lot, and know each other sooooo well! I love their guy rating system that involves food, I mean they're obviously best friends and you can truly see that when reading this book.
Then of course there is Rune and his buddies, Akira, Bassel, and Marlow. Each unique with their own unique personalities that really add to the story, and to their budding friendship with Bria.
My only qualm is that I felt the romance was a bit rushed, almost insta-love, but not quite(if that makes sense), like it was fast, yet believable, or got to the point of being believable. However, I also really like the romance in this book. It's enemies to friends to almost maybe lovers? lol. It is very sweet and I adore how it was handled despite how quick the romance was.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I don't read urban fantasies often, and so it is always nice to read one and enjoy it immensely! 4.5/5 stars.
