The Wolves of Anchorage #1

The Alpha Wolf’s Sacrifice

Rate this book
After a female bear ran away to pursue a life of independence, could she allow herself to give love a second chance?

The Independent Bear Shifter
For my entire life, my clan tried to stifle me.
I was smothered by traditions, customs, and rules.
All I wanted was to live my dreams.
But I couldn’t even work at my career without my brother’s interference.
I ran and started over in a new city, living and working among humans.
Then I met a gorgeous shifter, but he was a wolf, not a bear.
I had no desire to be tied down, so I enjoyed our casual relationship.
But casual wasn’t possible – we were meant to be.
We had a connection that only mates share.
Our families disagreed.
My wolf shifter turned on me.
He broke my heart, but left me with a surprise,
a little piece of him that I will have forever.
Five years after he broke my heart, we got a second chance.
This time, could I start fresh with my sexy wolf shifter?

The Alpha Wolf Shifter
I have always taken pride in my pack.
I became Alpha at only eighteen after I rescued most of our pack from a forest fire.
We lived traditionally, honoring our ancestors and our pack.
I valued loyalty, hard work, and commitment.
My life was a steady, predictable pattern. Until my pack demanded that we move.
They wanted to live in a city.
I fought the change. But they prevailed.
In a city, I met my match.
She was feisty and beautiful, but there was one problem.
She was a bear shifter, not a wolf.
We dated anyway, but there were no strings attached.
My wolf thought she was my mate, but how could that be?
I was technically breaking my own rules, so I ended our time together.
Five years later, I saw her again.
But this time she had a child.
And she blamed me for abandoning them both.
Could I ever regain her trust and prove to her that we were meant to be?

Could he forgive her for keeping a secret about the one thing that mattered the most?

Stilted

This is the first book I've read by this author. I found the writing simplistic, most of the action is told rather than lived, and the dialogue is stilted.

Great start to a new series! The author brings strong characters in Roman and Everleigh. They feel an instant connection but neither is looking for love. She takes them on a bumpy ride with obstacles to overcome on their way to their HEA. It's well written with descriptive scenes, moves fluidly and is a great story I loved reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

DNF,

could not connect with characters or story line. read 35% and gave up. I should not have to even read that far into a story to decided if it's worth my time and effort to read. A book should grab you on the first page in not no later than the first chapter.

Not the best but not terrible

The overall story line was great. However, there are quite a few typos and things that just don't add up through out the story. First off her family finds her in Anchorage at the beginning of the book within a week of leaving the clan, but when she moves to Juneau they don't track her down at all for 5 years? Another thing is that the author seems like she is building up to something going horribly wrong between Everleigh and her family, but it never happens. Also her grand father was the alpha of her clan when she left with her father and brother next in line per generation. Then suddenly her brother is alpha after only 5 years and there is no mention as to why or how that happened and yet her parents are still around.
I like the fact that he steps up and admits he was wrong and is willing to change, plus accept responsibility for their daughter. I like the happy ending they received. I just wish there weren't so many questions left unanswered.

I really enjoyed this book about two different shifter clans that don’t usually mix and mate with others. Everleigh is a bear shifter and just wants to live her life and her dreams but her family and her clan wants to stop her but she runs away to live in the city and is working in real estate and that’s where she meets the man of her dreams even though he is not a bear shifter but that doesn’t bother her at all. Roman is a wolf shifter and the alpha of his pack at a young age after he saved them all from a forest fire, he keeps them safe with the old traditions but not everyone is happy about where they live and what to move to the city and that’s where he meets the sexy and feisty bear shifter Everleigh who helps him to find a new place for his pack and the attraction and chemistry between them is hot and it isn’t long before the are dating and steaming up the sheets and he breaks up with her after his brother finds out because he set the rules he is breaking. 5yrs later he sees Everleigh with a little girl who it turns out is his daughter that he abandoned as well as her but even after all this time he never stopped loving her or she him. Can they get a second chance at love and be a family this time around or are the issues from the past still present today.

I really enjoyed this story about Roman who is a wolf shifter but is the alpha of his pack and Everleigh who is an omega bear shifter. Being a wolf shifter it is against their packs law to mate outside of the pack and it is the same for the bear shifters being forbidden to mate outside of the den. When these to meet each other, Roman is looking for land in Anchorage so that his pack can move there he is given Everleigh‘s name as the real estate agent to help with his purchase. They both recognise that they are each other‘s mate but know that they are forbidden by their laws to follow through on this, so they start a casual relationship until Roman is told by her brother that he is to break it off immediately. Everleigh leaves Anchorage and moves away and then she discovers that she’s pregnant. These two have a lot to work through before they can actually get back together again and have their happily ever after.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and review with my honest and fair opinion.

Roman and Everleigh had me captivated from the very beginning. Roman became an alpha way too young and Everleigh had annoying, interfering family members that wouldn’t let her live her life. Roman is a wolf shifter and wants his pack to follow traditions and the young shifters are rebelling. So he gives in and is looking to move his pack to the city and his brother from school lets him know of a bear shifter in real estate that will meet his needs. Everleigh is the bear shifter that deals in real estate and the shifter is her brother that is interfering in her life again by referring Roman to her. They hit it off immediately and sparks fly but Roman being a traditionalist won’t mate outside his species. So they date and have sexy time but he cuts it off as soon as her brother learns about their relationship leaving Everleigh so devastated that she leaves town. Will Roman get a second chance with Everleigh? Will a surprise he left with her be the determining factor?

Roman lost his father, the alpha to the wolf pack, in a fire at 18. He became alpha then and lived the old ways. Everleigh is a bear shifter selling real estate and is angry at her family’s interference in her life, so she moves away. When Roman and she meets, he knows she is his mate but she wants to keep it light. Roman and many other shifters went to an Academy together and one of them is Everleigh’s brother. When her brother discovers that Roman and her are dating, he asks him to stop. Fast forward five years…now she has a daughter and has kept it hidden from everyone; it is what caused her to move away. When Roman finds out he does not know it is his child. Will fate give them a second chance? Will he give up being Alpha and the old ways? Will her family accept things? Will his pack accept them? Many answers to be read in the book! Do not miss out!

Roman became alpha of his traditional wolf pack sooner than he expected but held things together well, until the younger wolves, insisted on modernization more human contact, allow other shifter types in their pack, etc. Bear Everleigh felt stifled by clan life/rules, she wanted more independence and to live a more human life. So she moved away from her family & clan.

Rather than lose control of his pack, Roman decides to move his pack near a human city an accepts a recommendation for a shifter realtor from a college classmate. Sparks fly when Roman and Everleigh meet sparks flew between them despite their different outlooks on clan/pack life. The pair enter a seriously casual relationship. Things go well until the college classmate turns out to be Everleigh’s brother and he demands Roman break things off with Everleigh.

Roman and Everleigh

Roman and Everleigh fell in love, but because of his pack politics about wolf shifters only being with other wolf shifters Roman broke off their relationship. Five years later Roman found out where Everleigh was living and went to see how she was doing and if she was still single and unmated. He realized that Everleigh was his mate and that nothing including his pack was going to keep them apart. He also found out he had a five year old daughter he knew nothing about. Roman and Everleigh renewed their relationship and were finally accepted by Roman's pack and they were officially mated and all three are finally together and happy, and realize that there is a new cub on the way and all three could not be happier!

I could not finish this. I want to love this author. Her premise for the stories she comes up with are great. I just can not finish her books. The writing is super simplistic with minimal detail. And the details that are there contradict eachother without any in depth description or reasoning. Add in she will say a month has passed or a week or he has to get back this week and then suddenly he is there anyway. I could not keep up with shift left and right and contradictions without any thought to it. I want to love her I do. I just can't get past her style of writing. Which some people may love and need and like this style. I however can not do it. So sorry.

The Alpha Wolf's Sacrifice

Roman, a wolf shifter, is trying to keep his pack together, using the old ways of life and ignoring the fact that the human world is drawing the younger generations attention and desires. Everleigh, a bear shifter, has rejected pack life for creating her own in the human world as a real estate agent. They meet and are attracted to each other, but Roman's pack do not like his being with a bear. So he rejects Everleigh, and she moves to Anchorage to start anew with her daughter, whom Roman is unaware of. He decides to find her, and realizes what he has rejected. They go through many struggles and arguments before they reach a satisfactory ending.

It’s a ok read but there’s a lot of small misses - like calling her a wolf shifter / contradicting actions that couldn’t happen based on the previous set up scene description.
I also spelling errors and some random unfinished sentences.
for example she finds out she pregnant and then it jumps to 5 years later. Count pregnancy into that the child is 4 and a bit but she is called 5 years old.
It’s just kind of frustrating to read.
It feels like things didn’t get properly looked over in an edit which is disappointing.

Also - I didn’t get to SEE the character grow and change it was just told they did.

Poorly written

The trope or story lind was good but the delivery or writing was bad . First the writer couldn't keep her facts Wright one moment our heroine is a bear the next she's a wolf. Second this book needed some editing lots of spelling mistakes and double typed words. Third the story felt so disconnected it didn't flow smoothly. It was hard to finish this book cause it had nothing that would captivate your attention. Fourth both hero and heroines were annoying, the heroine even more so . Bottom line both the writing and story were lacking .

Great story to start a new series. Everleigh was tired of her family interfering in her home and work life. She is a bear shifter. Roman is the alpha of a wolf pack. When they meet they’re just both looking for a good time. One night changes both their lives forever. Great characters, lots of family and pack drama. I received a complimentary copy of the book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading the next book by Ms White.

Could use some proofreading....

but otherwise it's a decent book. The conflicts are reasonable for the characters and their reactions are believable given what's shown about the characters personalities. It doesn't quite have that certain level of angst I need for a book to hit five stars, but it's good enough to get four stars in spite of the proofreading issues that would prompt me into giving a less solid book only three stars.

this was absolutely adorable!

The secret baby 2nd chance romance was absolutely amazing. It was fast paced but wasn’t rushed! I’m glad that they all got to live and get their happily ever after! Would’ve loved an extended ending but i feel like the book wrapped up perfectly! I loved it. Everleigh and Roman are perfect for each other. I love the idea of biracial couples! That added a nice touch to the book!

Getting over old traditions

Roman & Everleigh: he was the alpha of the wolf pack and was trying to stay true to the old ways, but then he meet her. She was tired of being held back by her bear clan so she runaway to the city and took a job. The characters will take you on twists and turns through out their journey to become fated mates.

Brilliant Series

The Alpha Wolfs Sacrifice (The Wolves of Anchorage Book 1) by Brittany White. Roman, wolf shifter, fell in love with Everleigh, bear shifter, he was told mating couldn’t happen. 5 years later he met Everleigh again. She had a child, his child. Roman decided there and then he would give up everything to be with his mate and child.

Medium.

I have read this author before and this book wasn’t up to her usual writing. It felt disjointed and never really flowed. The storyline wasn’t bad so I don’t think that’s what the problem was. But it seemed like I each sentence was not connected to the one before. I will still continue to follow this author, but this wasn’t her best work.

Traditions, the future, and changes

Roman and Everleigh have many obstacles to overcome. Will Roman allow tradition and brotherhood keep him from his mate? Will Everleigh allow her need to get away from her family and their old fashioned beliefs to destroy her chance at happiness?

Love the Characters

The Alpha Wolf's Sacrifice, book 1 of Brittney White's The Wolves of Anchorage series introduces great characters. The real world strive some couples go through is handled with the twist and turns of real families. I can't wait to see how the packs and clans grow from book 1 throughout the series.

Wonderful Shifters

Great shifter book! I loved the chemistry between the main characters and I loved that they were different types of shifters. This was my 1st shifter book like that and their baby...well I'm not going to give that away just say I hope more babies are born in this series.

A struggle for me to finish

As much as I wanted to like this book there were just so many things that were frustrating for me that I almost quit halfway through. The characters were weak and whiny and just not likable in my opinion. Added to that the editing was subpar. Just not one of my favorites.

I just don’t know

I thought I would like this one and I was disappointed. The writing style and skipping forward in the years wasn’t my fav. I also didn’t like that by 1 talk things would have been diff. Then there is like instant forgiveness and secrets that are huge. I just thought it was too unreal of a relationship. I also like a more alpha alpha in my shifter books

thrilling

I enjoyed this one…oh I so would of liked to knock Sutton out… he was cruel to make Roman break up with his mate. Then after they were working on getting back together he called his sister to lie to her to get her to leave Roman. I hope when Roman sees Sutton again he knocks the snot right out of him
