I have been thoroughly enjoying the Miller’s Creek series! Her Unlikely Amish Protector is a great addition to this series, but can also be read and understood on its own even if you have not read any other books in the series.

I really liked getting to see the real Aaron Raber. He had made some big mistakes in the past and was valiantly trying to put all of that behind him. Yet there were some mistakes that would not let him go and began causing problems for him as he attempted to reintegrate into the community.

I was so impressed with the way Miriam grew emotionally as a person throughout this story. Because of something from her past, she began the book as a bit of a judgmental person. But as she began to see the type of person Aaron had become, her heart softened toward him and her true personality seemed to finally show through. I thoroughly enjoyed this peek back into the Amish community of Miller’s Creek!

This humorous and touching story found Miriam Schrock and Aaron Raber being thrown together in various situations including their employer. Miriam and Aaron both had hidden pasts that they still needed to forgive themselves for. I found myself laughing and then tears with the picturesque and descriptive words of events from lighthearted ones to lives being in danger. One thing about Aaron he definitely wanted to protect Miriam in every situation and worked to prove it. The characters are relatable and it was nice to catch up with previous characters in Miller’s Creek, Wisconsin.

This is a beautiful story that one’s past does not define them when they seek forgiveness from God, others and forgiving themselves. This tale is filled with family, faith, forgiveness, new beginnings and healing for a happier life.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author without any obligation to write a positive review. I have expressed my own thoughts.

Unable to forgive herself for a past mistake, Miriam Schrock vowed to avoid lawbreakers. Aaron Raber is a former troublemaker trying to prove he has changed. While working on the same farm, these two are frequently thrown together. When Aaron's past comes back to haunt him and threatens Miriam, will she believe in him or think the worst?

This is a great story of faith, forgiveness, redemption, and justice. These are things we all face and make this story relatable. I recommend this book for an interesting, inspirational read.

“Her Unlikely Amish Protector” by Jocelyn McClay is both humorous and heartwarming.

Miriam Schrock doesn’t want anything to do with Aaron Raber. She believes she needs to curb her impulsiveness to free herself of her past.
Aaron is back in Miller’s Creek to live a different life, a life without trouble. Being with Miriam fills his heart and brings out his protector instincts.
As their past merges into their present, Aaron and Miriam will have to forgive themselves and listen to their hearts to have a chance for a future together.

“Her Unlikely Amish Protector” has its serious moments, but it will also make you laugh out loud.
Ms. McClay definitely has a talent for creating wonderful characters.

If you love Amish romance, I highly recommend you read this, and other books, by Ms. McClay.

Aaron and Miriam have appeared in previous Miller’s Creek stories. Both have struggled with prior mistakes and are trying to forgive themselves and move forward. I think we can all relate to this sweet story and learn that past mistakes do not define our future.
I love how the author incorporates so many factors from the Englischer life and how the young Amish can be tempted and affected by those things. Lots of sweet, heartwarming moments and lots of suspenseful situations as well. Yet another great story in the uplifting Miller’s Creek series.

What a nice way to start the year. With a dash of suspense, this tells the story of Miriam and Aaron. Aaron made some mistakes due to his wanting to work on cars which wasn't allowed in his Amish community. The things he did to the cars were often illegal, and he eventually wanted to return to his community. For her part, Miriam had a troubled past too, as she unintentionally got caught up with the wrong crowd when she wanted to attend an Englisch party with an Amish boy she liked. These mistakes had major impacts on these two characters, particularly because Blake, Aaron's former boss, began threatening Aaron if he did not return to working for them again. And Miriam was willing to punish herself by marrying an awful and judgmental man, because she thought she deserved it. So, as you can see, these two had a rough road to travel. But with some very supportive brothers and a great family in the Zooks, Miriam and Aaron eventually found happiness.

Another great addition to Miller’s Creek series, Her Unlikely Amish Protector can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the others in the series. They’re all enjoyable.

A story with special characters you’ll come to love, we see growth in both Aaron and Miriam. The theme of forgiveness throughout the book reminded me that I too need to forgive.

I was surprised at the element of danger in this story, but not in a bad way. It added to the plot and kept me reading quickly. It just isn’t the typical Amish story.

There are so many emotions in this story. You’ll laugh, you’ll gasp, you’ll keep turning the pages to see what happens next. I highly recommend Her Unlikely Amish Protector.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

Awesome!

The perfectly proper Miriam Schrock just wants to live a nice quiet life. Although that is her plan, it seems that Aaron Raber, who is known for his troubled past, is going to be a huge stumbling block in making that plan a reality. However, as she and Aaron find themselves in each other's company more and more, Miriam begins to see that the stumbling block is shrinking. As a result, Miriam and Aaron begin finding common ground and begin to see each other in a new light.

Miriam and Aaron's story is an emotional roller coaster ride. It is one of consequences, overcoming, forgiveness, and love that will have you smiling, laughing, holding your breath, and even have you self reflecting. This awesome and touching story with a touch of intrigue is one that is sure to keep you glued to the pages all the way to the very end.

Jocelyn McClay has written an unusual Amish tale of Miriam Schrock who is in Wisconsin helping a new mother with her household tasks but plans to return to Ohio and marry her long time suitor. The story begins with the handsome hired hand, Aaron Raber, getting the manure spreader too close to the laundry Miriam just hung on the clothesline! This was not a good way to start a friendship between the two! Aaron has things in his past that he is not proud of and they come back to haunt him now. Can he do what is right and still protect Miriam? I recommend Her Unlikely Amish Protector to others. Even if you don't usually read Amish fiction, you will enjoy this book. I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

I enjoyed reading about Miriam Schrock and Aaron Rabers story by Jocelyn McClay-both with pasts that seem to follow them spiritually and mentally. Can the two of them help each other overcome their mistakes and move forward not only in their friendship, but in a personal relationship as well? Such an endearing story that reminds us that God forgives us of our sin and shame and we have to learn to forgive ourselves in order to move forward in our own relationship with God. This book is well written and I recommend it.

This is the latest book in McClay's Miller's Creek stories, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was an unusual story in that the main male Amish character in it had been involved in a gang. Forgiveness is one big theme in the story. If you enjoy Amish fiction, you won't want to miss this one!

A very unusual Amish book involving crime gangs. Not particularly well-written, with a few places where the story seemed to contradict itself.
