I read When the Day Comes and In This Moment earlier this year and enjoyed both so I thought I'd try a book from the author's backlist.
This one was fine but my biggest complaint is that everything worked out 100% perfectly. Also, both characters said at the beginning of the story that they would communicate with each other. Ha. That didn't happen at all.

Love love and love this story!! What a beautiful reminder that what may look and feel like spur-of-the-moment coincidences are really God's plans that have been in the works since the creation of the world. He always knows what He's doing.

An enjoyable book, if you can suspend a little reality.

First, though, please realize this is part of a series. There are at least half a dozen couples mentioned that have stories that came before this. It's not a 'series' on the back cover or here on Goodreads, but trust me, it is. I have Kate/Jacob's book in my shelf to prove it.

Second, you have to realize that the author and the cover make no sense. Either of them. The author tells us that Drew is clean shaven, olive-skinned, and dark haired. The guy on the cover? He be cracker-white, hello. The author also tells us he's blue eyed. That's *NOT* a thing with olive-skinned people.

Additionally, Whitney has blonde hair down to the small of her back - not so the girl on the cover. The author also tells us that she 's got brown eyes. That's *NOT* a thing with blonde, fair-skinned people. (((sigh.)))

This story takes place in 2022, but for some reason, they can't locate Whitney to notify her of her parents/sister's deaths until AFTER the funeral... really? In a time of SSN look-up on-line that gives you not only an address, place of employment, and sometimes even a phone number? Try no... but if you suspend reality... okay, whatever.

There is *NO WAY* a woman who has been institutionalized 'for several years' (due to depression and psychosis) would EVER be able to live on the road. She would need the stability of her home and possessions to ground/center her. So having her mom be an RV-dweller is NOT realistic, either. If everything stresses her out, she will NOT be able to handle a life of constant upheaval/change.

Also, it's a book in which you can absolutely win not only the PGA finals but the US Golf Open, at the SAME TIME as your flawless wife performs live and is offered a collegiate level singing position. Because it's all about the baby. Until it's... apparently not? It's about YOU and YOUR awesomeness. Which lacks a bit of that whole 'humble thyself and *HE* will lift you up'... but what's a little awesome between not-really chrischuns, hm?

Other than those things...? I really enjoyed the book. I could relate to Whitney as being rejected by her family. The emotions are conveyed well, even if the writing is not-at-all fleshed out (ie., perfect for the dumbed down readership of today, so you'll LIKE this).

I'd read it again. And I'm keeping it. Which means four stars.

I read this book in one day 😆 I wasn’t feeling well and my mom suggested I read something sweet. I didn’t even have to look at my TBR shelf to think of this one! I absolutely loved When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer and have been wanting to read more of her books! This was so sweet and heartwarming! And I love a good marriage of convenience story!
I think my ONLY complaint would be that the whole story took place in the span of I think 6 weeks. It moved so fast!! But maybe it just felt that way cuz I read it so fast 😆 Regardless, it was still an amazing story and amazingly sweet! I’d love reading it again!

🚨 Spoilers ahead 🚨

Fave Chapter:
Chapter 8
I just really loved Whitney and Drew’s conversation in this chapter. I liked a lot of their conversations but this one stuck out to me 😆

Fave Character:
Drew
oh my gosh is he the sweetest! So kind and encouraging! I don’t know what else to say! He was just the sweetest!

Ship:
Drewwhit (Drew x Whitney)
Maybe not the best ship name I’ve ever come up with but Drew called her ‘Whit’ at some point and I thought it was really cute 😆 I guess their ship name could be Whitdrew 🤔 Doesn’t matter 😂 These two! They were very easy to love and I really enjoyed seeing how they helped each other and came to love eachother.

What a sweet read! Gabrielle Meyer has once again taken us to Timber Falls, Minnesota, a warm and caring community. She writes a heartwarming story with characters that stay true to her storyline and re-introduces us to some of her past characters.
Whitney Emerson returns home to Timber Falls because her parents, sister, and brother-in-law have been killed in an accident. Too late to attend the funerals, she is met by her brother-in-law’s brother, Drew Keelan, and find out that the will states one of them is to have custody of their newborn nephew, Elliot. If neither one of them is married, then custody goes to Drew’s married cousin. (A real piece of work!)
Drew and Whitney decide to marry in order to raise little Elliot. Oh the twists and turns of a marriage of convenience!

Whitney and her family had problems so she left and hasn't been back home since her sister, Cricket's, wedding. Now she received a call from Drew, Cricket's husband's brother telling her that her parents, sister and her husband were killed in a car accident. Now Elliott, her nephew needed parents and he wanted to tell her what the will said.

She arrived but she didn't get there in time for the funeral because Drew had a hard time finding her.

Really enjoyed this book, even though at times it was kinda sad. I think you will enjoy it as well

This book is purely genuine with such tenderness and compassionate for a worthy causes. The writing techniques and concepts are phenomenal, with lots of emphasis on emotional development.

I love Whitney and Drew relationship, and how truly blessed and supportive they were --- to ensure the success and happiness of the other. I also admired how the community unconditionally rally around them to securely share in their home and hearts
❤️ ❤️ 💕 ...

I smiled, cried, and felt blessed while reading this beautiful family story ... within an hour...so therefore, I proudly and highly recommend it.

This is yet another example of a book marketed as Christian, but really anything but. I was a bit shocked as to some of what was included in this book, something I would not expect in any Christian novel.

There are so many books like this. Here is a good video on this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW5Lt...

This was a sweet modern day marriage of convenience story. Two people come together in matrimony to be able to adopt their.orphaned nephew. Can they make it a death til.us part? This is an easy read and a great story.

Sweet romance

They married to raise their shared nephew, but could they make it work? Would they see their dreams come true? Can they overcome their self-esteem issues? From beginning to end, I enjoyed reading this book.

Awesome book

This is a wonderful book. It is so very sweet. Drew is a wonderful example of a good man. Whitney struggles were heart braking. When I finished the book my heart was happy. Everyone should read this book.

I really debated between 2 and 3 stars on this. I have really enjoyed a different series by this author so decided to give this book a try. It just wasn't my thing.

Drew and Whitney are dealing with loss when they learn that they have been named guardians for their orphans nephew. Not only are they named guardians, but the will specifies they must be married. Both are shocked at this and neither ready for a relationship much less a marriage. But there’s a baby that needs to be cared for and so they into a marriage of convenience.

The marriage of convenience trope is my favorite trope and this one was really well done.
