Born 1986 in the prefecture Aichi, Horikoshi first attracted attention in the second half of 2006 when he entered Shueisha's 72th Tezuka Award for Newcomers with his one shot "Nukegara" and made it to the final six, where he gained himself an "Honorable Mention". Various short stories in Shueisha's Akamaru JUMP followed over the years until he published his one shot "Oumagadoki Doubutsuen" in issue #2/2010 of Weekly Shounen JUMP.
Kouhei Horikoshi is a graduate of Nagoya University of Arts. He was previously an assistant to TANAKA Yasuki.
this whole battle was insane omg the amount of times my heart stopped😭
i said this before but actually the character development for kacchan is spot on and the way todoroki is hurting so much🥺 and deku omg what a legend, i love these guys so much
also dabi is legit a psychopath but really that's no surprise and ill never understand the ppl who read the manga and love him to a concerning degree💀
First of all, I have to be honest with myself. This arc was amazing, nobody can deny this! We had a lot of good moments, development of characters (i was fall with Katsuki and Aizawa again), revelations (cofcofDabicof), deaths, the cute Touya has broken the heroes society and the Shoto's mentally healthy, the people have lost the hope and are filled with doubts. Now, nobody knows what is the future of whom once time was named "heroes". On top of all that: we had the big return of OFA (actually he never left xD) I know a lot of people didn't like that Shigaraki was manipulated by OFA and he dies but, remember OFA was always the main villain.
Anyhow, I can't with the fact that Horikoshi refuses to kill an important hero when he "did", something inside of him repent and show us that is never was died :/. For last: I was pretty happy to see Mirio bebé in action again, I had missed him so much. Dynamight you rock. And Deku, geez you have grown up!!
The cover is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite out of the whole series. (No surprise there, really, since Dabi is my favorite.)
The reveal was absolutely AMAZING. I loved everything about Dabi's dance from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorite moments in the entire series.
The second reveal was incredible.
The third reveal, . I still can't help but cackle when I think about some of the others' reactions to hearing it, especially Mr. Compress's and Spinner's. Very nice.
And the exchange ...!
I JUST LOVE THIS VOLUME SO MUCH, OKAY? 😭 ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Wow, we finally learned more about Dabi and I can say for sure that I hate him. He is even more insane than Toga! Don't get me wrong he is an amazing villain, but as a person he is very disgusting.
Also my theory turned out to be true. I feel so powerful.
I felt so bad for Shoto. He doesn't deserve any of this. He must be happy. I just want happiness for him.
And my love for Bakugo has increased so much during those last few chapters. His character is written so well!
The beginning of the end battle finally ends but not without the loss of so many things it’s shocking for me to wrap my brain around of how much went so WRONG in such a short time.
And in the middle of it all Deku, while not stopping fighting Shigaraki, is still such a shining light of hope in the fast encroaching darkness in how he’ll never stop wanting to save people, even villains. The scene where he’s inside One For All was one the most powerful and heartbreaking things I’ve ever read, and I admire him so much for being exactly who he’s always been unapologetically.
Uraraka has also grown so much and I have a feeling she’ll have to face Toga again and find out the truth behind her final tears. And the Todoroki family is MESSED UP, good grief, that plot twist I didn’t see coming AT ALL! Very much a “WHAT?!?!” then “Oh, that actually makes sense” kind of way that really comes back to bite Endeavor in the butt.
The one bright spot was hearing Bakugo’s superhero name and being able to crack up over it; I won’t spoil it here, but it’s just so BAKUGO and everyone’s reactions to it had me dying it was so funny.
Things are not going to get better before they get worse from here, but I’m here to keep reading and fight alongside Deku and his friends until the very end (or at least as close as I can get at this point, haha).
‼️Content‼️
Language: what the hell; crap; damn; hell; heck; freakin’; darn; freaking; gah
Violence: injuries and blood (PG-PG-13/R); fighting with weapons, superpowers, and hand to hand (PG-PG-13/R); crumbling/destroyed cities
Sexual: a girl’s shirt opens in the front all the way down to her stomach; a naked girl (nothing shown beyond if she was wearing a bikini); shirtless guys
Other: superheroes/supervillains/superpowers; a girl’s power has her “transform” into people by drinking their blood; monster like beings with “brains” outside their skulls; death and grief
This volume triggered my fight/flight response. My internal organs rearranged themselves due to stress. My heart was in my stomach, and my stomach was in my mouth. How could so much happen in one volume at such a fast pace is mystery to me.
First of all, this cover is epic. Now, on to the review. SO MUCH PAIN!!!! These chapters are just one gut punch after the next. One of my long standing theories was proven correct so that’s super satisfying. Plus one of my favorite characters makes his comeback! Horikoshi is a masterful storyteller. I cannot wait to see how all of this plays out
Finally, a more respectable hero alias for Bakugo that is less cringe but also pretty good tribute to his favorite hero. I mean, lest we forget, he too, is an unabashed All Might fan.
Sigh, I mean it is not bad. But this fight has been going on for volumes now. It is often hard to tell who is talking and who is fighting. Some of these heroes and villains have not been seen in a while and some where last seen dead. Those with battle damage are even harder to tell apart. Also, that villain looks nothing like Endeavor, he looks more like Bakugo. Not to mention he never shown that much raw power in the previous volumes. There was some interesting character advancement. But still this fight has gone on way to long and I am losing interest.
These keep getting better and better as they go into darker territory. This was such a emotional volume with the Todoroki family drama exploding like a volcano during an already intense and epic battle between heroes and villains. Horikoshi is breaking down and examining what it means to be a hero and a villain, going beyond the binary of good vs evil. It’s been done before, yes, but it works so well with the progression of this series. Can’t wait for Vol 31.
This is another intense volume. Some crazy ass fights, Deku about at his limit along with everyone else. A surprise with Endevor and his family, a old face is revealed to be apart of the family. Toga is insane, like crazy fucking batshit insane...and I love it. And can we talk about my boy LEMILLION returning? Let's fucking GO!
Fiery as always 🔥 This series never disappoints me!
