My ex joined the Anti Magick Alliance. He branded me with their crest. Turns out, he’s played with the wrong witch.

I grew up believing I was human. My entire town hated supers, but I’ve always been drawn to them. Especially mages.

On the night my anti-magick ex finally took his cruelty too far and tried to kill me, my powers awakened. I burned his apartment to the ground and left him in the flames.

But now I’m on the run, hiding out in a town called Phoenix Falls. A town full of magick. A town where four super-hot mages believe I’m the key to a prophecy that will stop the underworld from rising.

There’s Kole, the one they call The Viking. A powerful earth mage who’s addicted to human blood, he scares and excites me. I know being near him is dangerous, but I like it. And I know he does too.

Tanner is the gentle one. An empath with a dark past. He knows what I need before I need it, and he has some serious history with Kole.

Mack is the daddy of the group. The Professor. Super hot. Like a guy from a coffee commercial. Silver hair, goatee, deep brown eyes. Oh, and the ability to shift into a friggin’ polar bear whenever he feels like it!

Finally, there’s Luther. The fire mage cop who hates humans. He despises me, but when two hot flames combine there’s bound to be fireworks.

If they’re right about me, I’m supposed to save the world. But first, I need to save myself from the wrath of the Anti Magick Alliance.

If only I had four powerful mage boyfriends to help me…

‘Nova’ is the first book in The Phoenix Prophecy series. It is a full-length paranormal reverse harem novel with graphic sexual content, sword-crossing, possible triggers, and a cliffhanger. It is aimed at readers 18+.

Magnificent cover. Intriguing blurb. Love me some prophecy. Interesting cast of character. But then you open the book and read the actual story and it's just very dull. Everything was skimmed over in a very shallow way that just made it impossible for me to care about anything. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐊𝐒 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐇 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐃𝐎 𝐍𝐎𝐓. We always want more depth and plot but are simply resigned to only have this formula in every type of RH novels.
What I want now is to smash that mold into one million pieces and throw every broken pieces 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐬𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐚 𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞. Look my rating might seems harsh considering I've read this type of stories and yes I have given them higher ratings, but as I said it was more out of resigned kinda of way than me actually loving it. But I just can't do it anymore plus that cover and blurb gave me hope that maybe this would be the one to break the mold. Ahh. I need book two now. I should have waited to start this until I had the money for book two! It’s left on a major cliffhanger, and I’m not sure I can wait! I couldn’t put this down, and inhaled it so quickly!

This book I would highly recommend for fans of Romantasy, it’s everything. The 🔥 scenes honestly, wow. It’s vampires, mages, shapeshifters, witches, wolves - the whole shebang with a major theme of reverse harem.

Then on top of all this sexual tension, you’ve got this big prophecy playing out, and it sounds like it involves all five of the main characters. This book draws you in tenfold and would highly recommend for anyone that love a bit of 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️!

Thank you so much to Insta Book Tours for my spot on the tour, and to Cara Clare for the gifted copy of book one!

The insta-love and lust were overdone. It overtook the plot, and at 84%, I just lost interest in it all. I like reading a story and having the ability to follow the plot without the "romance" overtaking it. In this case, I felt like I was being spoon-fed the romance, and the mystery regarding the FMC's power was treated as a subplot.

What?

This was so weird and disjointed. And the trigger warnings? Or lack thereof is awful. There's a freaking QR code at the end of the book. The only reason I saw it trying to get to the last page to trip the review open. That's not fair to readers. There definitely needs to be something in the blurb, or a preface or something. She's practically r*ped by her boyfriend. The same one who carved her up with a knife and branded her. Literally branded her. Abuse was mentioned, I thought the marking thing was figurative. Nope. Then, after running, she is immediately in lust with 4 guys. Not a single bit of hesitation. After 0 years of abuse? Because this guy singled her out at 15 and was grooming her. Another not mentioned trigger. One of the guys is old enough to be her father. Raised human and in a fundamental type setting, she latched on quick to making out with 3 of the 4. Not a blink or 2nd thought. We have vague mentions of 2 factions: humans who hate supes and supes who hate humans. There's a plot but it keeps getting buried in make out scenes. She wants help but won't talk about why she needs it. Refuses to admit she has powers even with 4 witches who could help her right there. No time for plots, must suck faces or moon over a guy. One guy is a former professor turned sheriff. He never seems to work, though. Same for the only mentioned deputy, the skeptical guy in the group. The only 1 we see work is the bartender. The 4th is apparently a nurse and he's mentioned as going in on 1 shift. That's it. There's no world building. There's barely sketched out characters we don't know and aren't exactly charmed into caring about. They don't develop or grow, either. And whatever was barely hinted at as a plot is so frequently abandoned it doesn't really matter. I don't know how far I made it before giving up, somewhere around the halfway point. I just didn't see any point in continuing. Btw, the older guy? Nova wasn't his first younger/student crush. Which really makes me wonder if he treated the academy like a buffet. He has a type: younger. And I don't mind MM, love is love. But Tanner seemed like Kole was more a chore than a romantic partner. Like he just accepted a role as Kole's release valve without any emotional attachment. It was weird and uncomfortable to read.

Hoping for more

Its like there is no life in this book? No spark. Almost robotic. Yes there is a story because the author is telling us one. But its so forced and the flowing of the book just isn't there. The world here is confusing and not really explained. Neither is how they are mages yet other? Our H just seems so indifferent to what's she's been through. And just seems to move on like nothing. Her character moves on super fast and it just doesn't work here. Strange character Kayla who spontaneously pov was weird as well. Dnf at 80%

This was an intriguing paranormal reverse harem romance. It’s the first book in a larger series and managed to set up the world nicely. It was definitely imaginative and I’m intrigued to see what transpires next. It’s set in a world of humans and supes there’s a clear divide and plenty of bigoted hatred on both sides. Nova lives in a town heavily influenced by the Anti-Magick Alliance. Under the control of an abusive boyfriend a radical supporter of the cause, things come to a head resulting in Nova setting the apartment on fire and then fleeing. She ends up in phoenix falls a town of supers. Here she meets four Mages and discovers an ancient prophecy that she just might be the key to unlocking.

Tanner is adorable, so sweet he’s an empath nurse and water mage and he instantly falls hard for Nova. Mack is the daddy of the group he’s also the sheriff and a shifter his polar bear Snow is totally infatuated and adores our girl. Then we have Kole who’s a seer the very one whose prophecy foretold Nova's arrival he’s also afflicted with a blood addiction and Nova for the moment Is his drug of choice causing a slight relapse. Finally, we have Luther he’s the suspicious one and doesn’t seem to have a high opinion of Nova he’s constantly searching for the ways In which she may be withholding the truth.

There are forces working against Nova in the background armed with some dangerous knowledge and Nova is their sacrificial lamb. She will now need to work with these mages as they try to protect her from all of her enemies who are now circling her from all sides. This was well-written and an easy intriguing read I’m looking forward to seeing how all of these complex relationship dynamics develop further. This was a great start to the series.

I don't know what I was expecting when I picked up this book but I was so flaming glad that I did because its a bloody brilliant read. It was a refreshingly different take on the Supernatural RH romance book I thought.

Living with an abusive and violent boyfriend things come to a head one night for Nova (FMC) with life changing consequences for her. Which take her to a new town that's full of Supernaturals. Where she stands out as human but it also puts her in the path of 4 hot guys - Tanner, Kole, Mack and Luther. Oh boy did they steam up my kindle!! So hot!

This was a great start to this series and one hell of a cliffhanger ending. I'm dying to get my hands on the next book now because I really loved reading this one

Wow!

This is a fantastic supernatural romance! I love Nova, and I’m pretty fond of Tanner and Kole! Mack is growing on me, and I’m sure Luther will change his tune soon enough lololol. The story is compelling, the spice is magnificent, and the cliffhanger was fairly brutal, but the next book is out soon!

The story is intriguing, I do hope it gets more depth in the next few books. The story felt a bit flat and the romance moved quite fast, a bit too fast in my opinion. I do really like the characters and am excited to continue the series!

4.5/5 Stars

Spice Level: 5/5

Release Day: July 1st, 2022

Types of Tropes: Paranormal, Fated Mates, Romance, Fantasy, Age Gap, RH

Kindle Unlimited: Yes

Preorder: Open Now, $4.99

POV: Multiple, but easy to follow

The author is not in the USA so beware spellings of things that may seem different if that throws you out of a story or certain phrasings! (example: tyres, magick, where she was sat.) It took me a second and I had to use my kindle feature to check I wasn’t missing something when she said tyres in the story! So you are warned!

Cliffhangers?: Yes! The book ends on SUCH A CLIFFHANGER!!! BUT it was so good and I am VERY EXCITED for the next book in the series!!

I was so kindly put on the ARC list for this book after finding it on TikTok and falling in love with it from a few quotes (such as: “When he’s got you on your back. Tattooing over the scars your ex gave you. And you tell him you saw him having s3x with his boyfriend. And he says: “Is that so? Then tell me, Little Star, did you like what you saw?””). I got access to the first few chapters from Clares’ author website and fell in love with the book and was waiting anxiously for the release day. I got the email I was an ARC reader with my copy and started it AND DEVOURED IT in a few hours. The book reads very fast and is very entrancing, I didn’t even realize I was almost done with the book until my shift was over and I had to pack up to head home. I LOVE Nova and her character development we see, as well as all of her men! They are so fricking hot and so different I loved it. I cannot wait to see how they interact in the future and how all the relationships develop in the series and how the prophecy plays out.

We are introduced to Nova, who is in an abusive relationship (we weren’t given a lot of details but it definitely could be triggering to some so please check the TW’s and go in knowing that) and her boyfriend who is in a league who DO NOT LIKE supers/people with any form of magick. She gets beaten and branded and ultimately finds a way to escape her situation and ends up in Phoenix Falls (a magic territory which definitely sounds like it has Mystic Falls [Vampire Diaries] vibes) where she meets the guys. Kole (who hot damn makes me hot as heck!)Tanner (who seems like such a golden retriever boyfriend), Mack (who is that hot professor we all love), and Luther (who seems very emotionally damaged/detached and doesn’t seem to show his feelings towards Nova to her specifically). She is immediately attracted to them all (I mean who wouldn’t be right?) and I love seeing her interact with the Harem considering her only relationship she’s ever been in was with her abusive ex who is causing A LOT of drama for the supers. I love the interaction we get between all the guys as well, I find some of them very intriguing and very attractive. We are given an MM scene and gosh damn that was HOT, HOT, HOT!!

This book was very interesting HOWEVER, I do feel that her switch from being a scared girl afraid of her ex to being IN LOVE with Tanner was VERY FAST. I noted it twice whilst reading. I also feel like the author was hastily giving us answers to problems that I feel should have been stretched out and delivered to us later and in a less obvious here's the answer way, I was also thrown off by one of the POV’s but that was later shown who it was and how it played into the book and the series. I also am in love with the cliffhanger ending! I cannot wait for it to be talked about in the next book the author plans to release not soon after this one!

This is a review for the whole series:
Imagine if Broken Bonds, Harry Potter, and Captain Planet had a baby. Then one day that child, who was 100% a theatre kid in high school, went on to have a fever dream while watching Twilight, specifically New Moon. That’s this series.

This is quite possibly one of the worst series I’ve ever read. It’s a random assortment of poorly formed ideas and every idea she had clearly ended up in this story. I’m pretty sure I was just reading bullet points. This was without a doubt a wattpad story. Words aren’t even capitalized at the beginning of sentences. No edits, just vibes.

But it’s so bad, it’s good. This is top tier, one star gold. It is absolute chaos in the worst and best way possible.

This reminds me of the movies on the sci-fi channel. This is the Sharknado of book series. I’m so happy I found this trainwreck.

Characters felt a bit 1 dimensional to me. I would think with Nova's backstory there would be more leftover trauma she needs to work through. It just felt forced. I skimmed the last half.

Adding Cara Clare to my Fave Shifter Authors!

Can I say I am absolutely 💯 glad this whole series is already out because I hate waiting for the next book in a series.
Also Storm(Scarlet Witch) is my fave female Avenger..and I feel once Nova gets a handle on her powers she is going to be the biggest baddie there is! I loved the development of the Male mages..and Daddy Mack is 👨‍🍳💋 hot!!! Polar Bear shifter I have never read and I am all for it!
The spice 😍 definitely steams between Tanner and Nova in the shower and the fountain scene the chemistry is insane! You can feel the bond from the very first moment Kole and Nova see each other , that red thread of fate that is prevalent in Asian stories can almost be seen hanging between them. I love books that explore fate and destiny and I hope mythology and maybe a Grimore is read at some point in the next books it would make the story line and plot so much richer.
The only small negatives is I wish Luther's backstory was explored more, I don't feel like we got to know him except in a police investigation mode. We didn't get to know what makes him tick .I can't wait to see more of these characters in book 2.

This book has a little bit of something for everyone!

Okay this was a great start to a why choose paranormal romace. we have a witch and 4 hot Male mages including a grumpy seer/‘vamp’, a golden retriever empath, a broody fire mage and a daddy polar bear shifter. we are just getting to know nova and her dark and hidden past. She doesn't really know herself so it's cool that we get to discover her at the same time as she does in the story.

The overall source of conflict in the book could use some work but I'm sure it will develop inthe next installment. we have her POS ex johnny working with demons wanting to break free and be topside and a prophecy unfolding. Still don't know who the 5th mate will be - maybe he/she comes later? but i am thouroughly invested. This was a fun read - easy to get into and spicy as hell for 300 pages. we even got ⚔️ in the first 30% of the book! I'm here for it. bring on book 2

How beautiful is this cover ! This is book one on the phoenix prophecy - and what a start to the series. I was so into the story that I didn't even realise how much I had read until my other half mentioned I hadn't moved in an hour!

This book is a paranormal reverse harem! With alot smut and lgbtqia representation!! There is some trigger warnings so please check this out (there's a QR code on the back page that takes you to the authors page to check the trigger warnings - love that)

The smut scenes were 🔥🔥🔥 nothing was left to the imagination, girl / boy - boy / boy - girl / boy / boy - all 🔥🔥🔥

This was quite a fast paced book and I feel like we need a little more information and fillers but cliff hanger ending ! Omg ! Need to read book two asap!

Things are moving quickly so far.
Honestly, when this ended I had no idea I was even anywhere near the end of the book. So it was a huge surprise for me, and that cliffhanger was brutal.
I’m just so glad I make myself wait until series are completed before starting them, or I’d have really fucking hated that shit.

So far I’m really enjoying getting to know these characters and the world.
I’m really wondering who the hell the fifth is…
I’m wondering how the hell things with Kole are ever going to work…
I’m wondering how long Luther is gonna continue to keep his distance…
I’m wondering when the sexy professor finally lets go…

I’ve got a lot of questions I’m hoping to get answered, so that’s a good sign.

This book was alot spicier than I expected, very vivid descriptions of the scenes and shocked me how close Nova got to the male characters quickly and each time they each had certain scenes or thoughts or just in the comfortable way they talk to each other. My heart has a bit of a soft spot for Nova and Tanner and I am definitely rooting for them; in the second book I would love to see more innocent, sweet and romantic scenes between them, so their relationship has more emotions and maybe even see their first proper date or a longer amount of pages about them healing each other emotionally instead of turning to spicy scenes.Tanner has some things that you see from the first chapter with him he needs to grow to be able to tell Nova and she also has a bad past which would help with their bond. I think the way Novas previous relationship was described was well done and hits the point about where she came from and her needing to heal and be protected. I'd also like to know more maybe about her and her past or even just about the prophecy. I'd also like to know more about the men, Luther and Tanner especially. I feel like the small bits given from the other sides and not the main characters is really helpful in finding out what's happening and building up around phoenix falls. I also like the writing style of different chapters being from different POV's and the hints of learning and magic. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book and how far they'll all go for eachother especially now things are getting more intense; and to see more of the character development that I loved from this one.

Before starting this book I heard so many amazing things about it from my friends. Maybe that is why I went into it with really high expectations, that this book sadly didn't reach. While the book is amazing and worth reading, it also takes you a while to get hooked.

Nova is the first book in The Phoenix Prophecy and it follows the story of our FMC Nova, who escapes from her abusive ex into a town filled with non-human beings. The plot of the book was amazing. The whole prophecy aspect is what I found the most interesting about it, and it was also the reason why I kept on reading.

Unlike the plot, the characters of this book were a bit superficial. I wasn't able to connect with any of them and the whole love-at-first-sight gets old pretty quickly. There were spicy scenes that I felt were forced and not well integrated into the story.

Overall this was an enjoyable read and I am already on book 2 because I just want to know what happens next. However, this is a dark book and it does mention topics that some people might find triggering so please check those out before starting this one.

I am ABSOLUTELY FUMING that the Author left it there of all places!! We get one of the hottest scenes I've ever read in a book and then a massive cliffhanger straight after?? Nah mate. I need the next book ASAP 😂

This is the first paranormal book I've read where I've been pleasantly surprised at how great it was. I enjoy them but they don't usually blow my socks off like this one did. I'd seen others rave about this series but I wasn't expecting to love it quite this much.

I think what I liked the most was how different the characters were from your stereotypical paranormal creatures. I loved Mack, Kole, Snow and Tanner so much, and I'm really looking forward to more of Luther in future books.

Great plot, a decent amount of smut and likeable characters; what more could you want??

Oh, and I definitely loved the fact that this wasn't just a reverse harem and included MM scenes too.

I enjoyed this book
It starts off dark, and instantly, you are in the world of Nova, and the abuse is that she's trying to survive from her then boyfriend. He's abusive, cowardly, and everything you want an antihero to find and punish.
But this book is not about him. No, it is about Nova and four sexy sups.

While the main plot is being worked on, this book is really about developing the main characters and giving Nova her flame.
Instantly, we know the spice is ouch hot! It does contain MM, so if that's not for you, turn away. I found the author made the MM very steamy as she links in our FMC in a hidden way and later in a more prominent way.
The MMCs are well developed, well all but the one that seems to dislike Nova, but I feel like that's done on purpose.

To sum up, good book. Dark, and spicy

it was enjoyable

It was an enjoyable read. I do wish we had more to the plot and more character development.

Nova comes out of a terrible relationship in a bad way. Her boyfriend was anti magic and she was marked to seem like she was as well. She runs away and finds herself in the middle of a territory where magic people live. Then she finds some men and learns a little about herself and a prophecy.

I really wanted more character development all around. Nova would have been a good place to show her grow but it literally went 180 out of left field and I was left wanting more. Also I didn’t feel any chemistry between some of the characters and I think there was supposed to be. I’m hopeful that in book 2 there will be more development and more plot.

There was spice and I feel like the way the spic was written hurt the story because it felt like it was put in some places just to spice up parts of the book, I don’t know if that makes sense. If you read it, you will understand what I am saying.

Overall it wasn’t a bad book but it isn’t one j would reread.

My thoughts:
Get ready and Set aside some time because you will find yourself not wanting to stop until the end. It is that good.
I was lucky enough to listen to the audio version which has 5 narrators which if possible made the book even better .
You will also enjoy this story if you like a paranormal fanstasy with hot and steamy romance that might make you blush. This story ends on a cliffhanger so I would recommend looking for book 2 so you will not be left wondering.
I highly recommend reading or listening to this book.
