i find that two years of friendship and a week or so of dating ten years ago to be not really a good foundation for a second chance romance unless we see then relearn and fall in love slowly present day. this book didn’t really deliver on the that. i liked their dynamic but being hung up on/yearning for someone from when you were 17 after a certain age is a bit much. both characters needed to be fleshed out more imo and the conflict from the passed needed more oomph bec… where are the adults? this could have easily wrapped up if mc1 just spoke to literally anyone at his school or asked mc2s lawyer brother for help. idk i have a sister who is seventeen and her and her classmates are v vocal. i was as well when i was younger. this is a story about two british guys so i expected more of a western way of thinking i guess? maybe i lost some context bec i used google to translate the korean book. also the way korean is spoken there are subtle things that are sometimes lost on me. even with that in mind the villain felt cartoonishly villainous almost like the really young type of ya novels whic this v much not for teens.
the investigation parts were okay but didn’t really seem like the main thing. i really enjoyed his coworkers dynamic and how looked out for mc1.
i know i’m coming off negative but other than the things i mentioned i like the two mcs relationship even if i didn’t think the foundation of the romance building to be weak. i like how even even if they were mad at each other or felt guilty they still looked out for each other. also i would’ve dnfed if it was that bad and i wouldn’t spent on it.
overall a goodish read
anyway this has made me want to read define the relationship since i noticed the manhwa for mind the gap kinda skipped stuff. i’m hoping by reading dtr i’ll get some answers about ash.
