Flame for Two is book two in Raleigh Damson's Bandit Brothers series. Billionaire Xander Montague aims to protect his ward, Harper Blake, from her criminal family. For Harper Blake, Xander is one she loved. However, Xander believes that he is too old for her. So when Logan Marrock came to work for Axis Management, he became attracted to Harper from the first day. Harper realizes she will not get Xander to change his mind and starts approaching Logan. However, after Logan got in trouble, Xander came to his aid, and this began to change between then and their relationship with Harper. The readers of Flame for Two will continue to follow Xander, Logan and Harper to discover what happens.
Flame for Two is the second book I read of Raleigh Damson and a fantastic addition to this beautiful series. I engaged with the characters and the story from the first, but I had trouble putting this book down. I love Raleigh Damson's portrayal of her characters and how they interact with each other throughout this book. Flame for Two is well-written and researched. I like Raleigh Damson's description of the setting of Flame for Two, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
The readers of Flame for Two will understand the danger of child trafficking and learn about the risks of having a bully on the company management team.
I loved the first one in this series, Flame for You, but this one topped that. I love the inner fight of the three main characters. And the extra segsy stuff was an added bonus. The suspense plot had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Can't wait for the next one!
Harper Blake is the assistant to the über-wealthy and brilliant Xander Montague. Their history is long and rife with heartache as Xander rescued Harper from a fate worse than death when she was in her late teens. For obvious reasons, Xander has a “hands-off” approach to Harper, despite how he craves her. An approach he learns to regret — perhaps, even loathe — when Logan Marrock steps onto the scene. He’s brighter, bolder, and very much so enamored by Harper. Enough to pursue her in ways that Xander is too afraid to. Their relationship blossoms, morphing into a push and pull of what the heart wants. The question remains: what does she do when her heart burns for both?
I will start off the review by saying that there are some content warnings to be mindful of: references to prostitution/child trafficking, age gap, general fantasy violence, and in-character/in-bedroom degradation. And if you’re like me: feet.
First, I have to say that I do love Bandit Brothers as a series. I’ve looked forward to getting to know the characters as we meet them, and reading their stories. I love the balance of kink and the overarching storylines that surround a private security company. It’s difficult to keep those two plot lines going without sacrificing the other, and I have to admit, I’m impressed with how Damson balances these developments.
I especially love the contrast between the characters. Xander, dark, brooding, and conflicted. Logan, by comparison, is infinitely more open and cheery. It’s easy to see why Harper would want both, given that they provide a balance that she desperately needs. And with two strong archetypes, it’s painfully clear that, with monogamy on the mind, she’d never truly be satisfied with one or the other.
I can’t delve too much further without spoiling the contents of Flame For Two, but I definitely think it is worth the read! I have read a few other BDSM books and reviewed them for this blog, but Damson’s stories make me want to come back for more! There are some elements to this particular story that wasn’t to my taste — I have a hard time with a lot of age gap, and degradation play — but I was able to appreciate the appeal with how Raleigh wrote this one!
Well, this was a hot read! Subs and doms and menages, oh my!
Harper is used to taking orders. Being the executive assistant for Xander Montague, the dark, brooding co-CEO of Axis Management definitely has certain distinct qualifications required. She meets all his demands in the office, but still wants more. Xander stubbornly refuses, convinced that sweet and sexy Logan Marrock is the perfect Dom for Harper’s submissive nature. He has vowed to be her protector and nothing more, but when he shares one unforgettable night with her, all his walls start to crumble even more.
I thought this was a pretty solid read. Plot-wise, I think the author did a great job balancing out the relationship between the mains and the business involving Axis Management. I do wish I had learned of Harper’s history earlier in the book, but I understand why the author kept it under wraps for later. My biggest issue with this book is that there needs to be some final editing when it comes to grammar and form. I don’t normally comment about this kind of stuff, but there were spelling mistakes, punctuation mistakes, and for some reason, dialogue from numerous characters in the same paragraph. This last point could be a personal thing, but seeing “___”“___”“___” really throws me. However, overall, I quite enjoyed this novel and would very much be interested in seeing more from this author and this series.
Thank you Voracious Readers and Raleigh Damson for my copy. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a response. All above thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is my first book by this author and I understand that it's number two in the series. Yes I read it as a stand alone but you have a bit of catch up to do at the beginning. I will look out for the first book now though. A good story with a few twists in it. Hot, hot sex, if you are easily offended this is not the book for you. It involves MFM menages a trois. There is also bad language, again a warning of you are sensitive to this. I enjoyed the book tremendously so why three stars? Well there a quite a lot of spelling mistakes which I'm surprised have got through. Also the bad grammar was driving me to distraction at times. Yes this maybe petty to some but as I beta read I find this hard to overcome. However a good book but have some ice cubes ready to cool you down afterwards! I was given a copy of this book by voracious readers only for an honest review. I always give an honest review.
I have spent the last week catching up on my comfort reads and of course Raleigh's Bandit Brothers Books have taken a special place in my heart. Logan and Harper are so beautiful, each wanting more but having to meet in the middle while in the middle of a fiery tense connection with Xander.
What I can say for certain is that Harper is worth it and Logan is willing to risk it all. This book ends with a bang and Harper doesn't let her flames go out, and carrying a swift pace and spice I won't forget. This is easily my new fav from Raleigh!!
Wow I'm not sure what else to say but wow. This was a great story kept you hooked from the first page to the last and by the end of the story you were wishing for more. If I could give this book more than a five star I definitely would. I can't wait to start the third book of this series. If you like the first book in this series you'll love this one even more.
I enjoyed this book. It was definitely spicy. I had trouble believing that these two dominant males would be able to share and not be jealous of each other. I still think that even though I found the story entertaining.
Side note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review
Wow! Book two was incredible from start to finish! I don’t have the words with how spicy it was and just wow! I loved see them all grow more as book two progressed. I’m curious where book three will go and who we get to see progress!
Another super read from Raleigh....I can't get enough of Harper's relationship with Xander. Then have Logan falling for Harper, well that was the cherry on the top. A must read.
What a stubborn…frustrating…exasperating….sad…lonely man Xander is. There were times I literally had tears running down my face as my heart ached for him. It’s not just the denial of his feelings for Harper, it’s the fact he has to watch her be happy with Logan. I could readily understand Harper’s attraction to both men; they were like ying and yang. Although they were both Doms, Logan was an adrenaline junkie, who loved to be the center of attention and didn’t mind playing to the crowd. Xander was the exact opposite, made worse by his anxiety disorder. I loved the differences between the two Doms, each gave Harper something that she craved, a sense of safety with a balance of structure and discipline from Xander and a push to explore her limits with Logan. I loved Logan’s openness to a polyamorous relationship and that he could see the things Xander could give Harper that he could not. But Xander is a man stuck in his own mind, unable to forgive himself for past wrongs and determined to keep Harper away from his darkness, no matter how strong his desire. Even a threat to Harper’s safety can’t make Xander change his mind, so Logan and Harper take matters into their own hands. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
