That all changed when he became an overnight millionaire. After building a mansion and leaving his past life behind, James is finally free. Living in a massive home on top of a large mountain range has perks, but it doesn't help with crippling loneliness. With his financial worries gone, he sets his eyes on a local waitress named Beth in hopes to explore a possible relationship...
But the world was about to change forever. When an unknown apocalyptic event begins ravaging his city, James and Beth are forced to take shelter in his secluded mansion, all while Beth's only friend is still somewhere in the chaos, waiting to be saved.
And it will take a lot more than money to survive.
This novel contains unconventional relationships, violence, and sex.
The cover suggests otherwise but I swear this book doesn’t contain ANY smut, yes it goes in the direction of romance but no scenes are explicitly described. :( The plot is predictable but still interesting and the description of environment, people, situations is very detailed and good. Apocalypse romance might be my new favourite genre!?!?!
At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review.
Genre: apocalyptic slice of life harem story
Power dynamics in harem: Girls are bi and extremely attracted to MC Explicit/adult material: Explicit and good.
Summary: James had made a series of great crypto investments. Having always been a bit of a prepper and now suddenly having the means. He had a great set up when war suddenly happened shortly after he finally asked his long time crush out.
Narrators Voice diversity: The voices are easy to distinguish and adds to the personality of each character. Pacing and intonation: The story is well told and engage you easily. Sex scenes: Very well done. Overall: 4.5 / 5 stars.
The book’s strengths. - The characters feel alive and recognisable. Both the girls and the bad guys. - The development of the war feels realistic and scarily real - The main antagonist of the story made me feel anger and disgust like few times before. - The narration
The book’s weaknesses. - I would love for it to have been a bit longer
The author weird relatable and realistic people in a tough situation. He doesn't focus too much on the apocalypse, in fact a lot is unknown, butt it's not disaster porn. It's a slow build, but a fast read because you care about the main characters. Sure hope this is part of a series..
Basically the same story as any other end of civilization! Not a bad thing, just needs to have more thought about what would really happen. The idea of a guy, who was rich, not having someone that he cares for with him is almost laughable. I think he would have had more supplies from the start. I hope #2 is better.
Excellent story, I like the character development. It's interesting to see how they are feeling each other out in this crazy survival situation they find themselves in. The spicy bits are well done, it nice to see the women taking the lead in the bedroom and the action is well paced. Looking forward to the next book.
I decided to gamble on this, and though it's a short read it does what it does very well. The author's nom de plume suggests straight-up erotica, but this concentrated on story and relationships, not a bunch of graphic sex scenes for the sake of it. I'll be interested to see where this goes.
Despite the authors “nom de plume “ this only contains a couple spicy scenes. The main character is not a survivalist but he is committed to keeping his friends safe. The mistakes he makes moves the story forward.
This is my 2nd Lara Lust read and I am a fan for life! There’s nothing like an end of the world, stranded with 2 curvy, naughty beauties! I can’t wait to dive into book 2!
I liked the pace of the story and the action. The women were believable and likeable. Derrick is an asshole, James reaction to having to kill someone was understandable.
Higher quality storytelling than the harem genre usually has. I just wanted it to be longer. I feel like by the end there wasn't much progression. Great for a quick read though. Hoping for a series or at least more stories set in this universe. There aren't many good harem novels set in Apocalyptic situations that don't involve futuristic, steampunk, or any other sci-fi element.
