Hannah, Alex, Freya, Nick, Ethan and Sam were a tight group in 1999, so they decided to make a pact - if they were still single in twenty years, they would pair off and marry. It was only ever meant to be silly fun - after all, none of them expected to be single in their thirties! In 2019, twenty years after losing touch, the three women reached out to their old friends. Newly single, it couldn't hurt to try, could it? When Hannah and Nick made their pact, they were the golden couple of high school. Twenty years later, can they rekindle their spark? Alex and Sam were good friends in high school, until he betrayed her. Can they get back on track? Freya rejected Ethan in high school. Will their luck be better the second time around? Set in 1999 and 2019, 'The Twenty-Year Pact' takes a nostalgic look at love, friendship and the role fate plays in our lives.
Really, really loved this book. Right from the beginning I felt invested in the characters lives and happiness. I was eager to know what happened and actually cried at the end. Brilliant book. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could.
This book was the story I never knew I needed. This book is about a 20 year pact that 6 teenagers did that if in 20 years none were married they would marry their designated person. After a break up with one of the girls they decide to reach out to the others. Not all pairs hit it off but none the less they get back in contact and try to from there. It was such a good book. It was light and fun. I loved the past and present in between the chapters. It was a great way to see the characters back in high school and now. It was definitely a good book to read. I would highly recommend it.
I read this book as a recommendation from a friend and really enjoyed it. I had a similar pact with a friend when I was 17 and it was fun to read a story about the same thing. I liked the characters, the story flowed well and I liked that things weren't necessarily easy for the characters throughout. I grew up in south east Queensland and lived in Brisbane for a few years so I really enjoyed knowing the setting well - a different experience to most books I read. I've already bought the author's earlier books to read over the Easter Break.
I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down! I love how Larissa makes you fall in love with the characters, makes you feel like you’re part of their world and invested in what happens to them. I can’t wait to find an Ethan of my own! This book made me laugh, made me cry and I cannot wait to see what Larissa has in stall for us next! All of her books have been different but she has a way of making her readers connect with the characters which I really enjoy.
In 1999, 6 teenagers made a pact that if they weren't married in 20 years time, they would marry each other. Fast forward to 2019 and though they haven't spoken to the boys since they finished school, the girls decide to contact the boys and re-connect. Will their pact work out for each of them in the end? The Twenty-Year Pact takes a nostalgic look at love, friendship and the role fate plays in our lives.
This was a super cute and fun read - dotted with chapters from '99 and '19, you got to see what happened between the characters both then and now - it kept me engaged and wanting to know if all 6 characters would have their happy ending.
Well, that was a fun read! Great characters, interesting twist, and compelling writing that hooks you from the get-go. In fact, I inhaled the first 80% or more in a seating! An extra star cos I myself just got married and this made me think of my own wedding haha Congratulations on the book!
