Murder 2 ways

Aria is a very young Viscountess only 19! She is a widow to huge monster of a man, who raped her and any woman within 25 miles or more! Baine is a trusted physician and a member of The Royal Academy here on behalf of his friend and benefactor the Earl!
Aria has been broken in many ways by the bruises and cuts she bares from her deceased husband! But is she a murderer or just a country doctor daughter with knowledge of herbs and potions!?
Baine is determined to find out in this house of horror! The staff are so brain washed they can not tell good from evil! It is like an asylum! Fortunately Aria is brave and bold she quickly learns her rights and how she can not survive but thrive!
If Baine can find the real murderer and get to the truth of how she and her husband were poisoned and her husband was also bludgeoned to death!?? Overkill? This is a mesmerizing tale of whodonuit! Can there be more stories....

A young woman marries an older man who happens to be the worse kind of man wanting to be under every skirt he could find including her and her younger sister unknown to them at the time. One night Aria wakes to find her husband Henry on the floor of his room dead she assumes her sister Sophia and Robert did it and she hurries to her sister's room to find her and Robert together and encourages them to leave and take a ship to America where they will be safe. Aria is willing to hang for her sister. But things are not as simple as that Aria is responsible for the creation but someone or two or more persons killed Henry. A very intriguing look into the Aristocracy in the 1800s when women were mere chattel. Mysterious thriller, drama, suspense, lies, betrayal, love, and death. This is only the second book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I like a murder mystery set in the past. It is a tragic story full of abuse of power and of women but a slight glimmer of light emerges from the darkness towards the end. Aria and Baine are deep and meaningful characters which I enjoyed watching develop. An interesting plot with a decided dark side.

Great reading

So many secrets, so many who could be the murderer.
Only fate can save those accused but innocent of the crime.
Well written and so much better than the regular regency romances, boy meets girl.
Truly a wonderful book.
