His Outlook Is Sonny

Rate this book
There isn’t a speck of ambiguity in what the Navy doctors told Garvin “Echo” Tibes when he was discharged. He is slowly going deaf. After all the strife he’s had to put up with in his life, this is the capper. He’s bitter and disillusioned; the only thing giving him any comfort at all is the degree to which he’s been able to hone his other senses. Roaming the streets of the nearby small city at night without his hearing aids has added to his sharpness, which is a good thing, because so far he sucks at sign language, and reading lips is incredibly frustrating. The crew at Safety’s whom he’s come to revere, doesn’t think less of him for his progressive condition. Hell, they all have challenges of their own. But Echo continues to be hard on himself. There’s no way he’s going to become a burden to anyone. Not even the intriguing Sonny, who’s just come into his life.

Sonora “Sonny” Lashlee is a music therapist by day, a bartender by night. She’s also a lucky sweepstakes winner, which means she doesn’t have to work, but she won’t leave her jobs. They give her the personal satisfaction and social outlets she needs. Everything seems fine, if not very exciting, until one day it becomes clear someone is out to end her life. She can’t imagine why. She has no enemies; no ex-students or customers with axes to grind. She also has no close friends. So when Echo comes to her rescue with the help of a garden gnome, she embraces his protection with open arms. Of course, it would be an added bonus if Echo would welcome her with the same enthusiasm he gives his job, but something is holding him back.

Good story

This has been good series. More story than others are sometimes, which I appreciate as a reader. However, I wish we could have some different kind of conflict. Sonny was one more in a line of people almost getting killed. The lottery was a neat twist, though.

Another amazing story by an awesome story teller.
The handsome vets that work for Safety are all back, along with some strong mates.
Echo has always held a special place in my heart, he is one of the strongest of the bunch but struggles with hearing loss.
There are a couple newbies joining them meaning more stories! (giggling and excited here).
While out of his regular patrol of the area he finds a woman unconscious in her home.
He finds himself drawn to her and hears all her stories of the “bad luck” she has had lately. The stories set off his spidey senses and the crew takes over. She has her very own bodyguards. A whole lot of heroes who will do anything to protect what is theirs, and make no mistake, Echo has claimed her.
Oh how I love this crew! Love me some wounded or not wounded military men!

His Outlook Is Sonny is yet another impressive addition to the Hardhat Heroes series. I adore this group of men and women who, notwithstanding their disabilities, have become a finely honed team of ex Special Forces operators and their spouses. They always have one another's backs and never hesitate to step up no matter what the challenge. The scenes that have the entire group gathered around the table, sharing a meal and bantering back and forth are quite possibly my favorites.

It's ironic that the man nicknamed for his ability to hear the enemy is now slowly losing his hearing. Garvin "Echo" Tibes was a loner until he arrived at the farm and was readily embraced by the group who would not only be his co-workers but would become his family
Sonny Lashlee is the very definition of sunshine. She brings light, warmth and joy to all she encounters. That goes double for Echo. She's gives him reasons to smile and laugh. Not only that she teaches him to feel the music in his body not just hear it in his ears.

Hear's to a new life

Echo is going deaf. He has worked hard on honing his other senses. Something doesn't feel right when he is out on one of his walk abouts.
He finds the source.
Sonny wakes up in the hospital with some guy sitting beside her. She soon finds out what happened.
Sonny and Echo develop a relationship while trying to find out who is trying to kill her. Echo is even working hard on ASL while the others are working on it also.
Will they find out who is behind wanting Sonny gone? Is it time for Echo to have his happily ever after?

brace yourself this is good

Sonny and Echos story is a huge page turner. So thoroughly enjoyed it, book 6 takes us back to the crew on the farm, catches us up with hatches and matches!! Events, intrigue and an off the rails criminal with a grudge and money as the driver adds to the mix. Of course attraction off the charts, new introductions to the team and suggest reading the earlier books for the full benefit but this is amazing, cannot wait for the next

The title says it all.

Echo is out at night trying to become more aware when his hearing is failing.
Sonny is a teacher of special needs children who doesn't realize she is a target.
Together, they learn how to help each other as Echo protects Sonny, as they learn just why she is being targeted.
Another great story in this series. You won't regret reading.........

great story, poor editing.

If, like me, you lose the joy when a homonym (or twelve) just doesn’t fit the narrative you may want to wait for a corrected edition. But it was a good enough tale that I plowed through to the end.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. There's plenty of danger at every turn. Someone is out to kill Sonny to get her sweepstakes money. When Echo first saw her, he knew she was the one. Get ready for a wild ride. HEA.
