Huisportretjes tekenen

Rate this book

Lovely book about Carla Kamphuis's drawing technique. Carla has a soft touch, making colorful yet delicate 'house portraits'. It's inspiring to see how a limited palette, set of techniques, and media can turn into something so good in the hands of a talented painter.

The technique is presented as simple and the examples are enticing; urban sketchers and architects will know how much technique goes into these drawings. One of the most surprising elements is the addition of a frame, at times with a bit of text.

Also lovely is the use of Dutch architectural elements and landmarks. This gives a regional flavor that may not be to the liking of everyone, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.
