This will be a job from hell…
I knew that from the moment I laid eyes on her.

Ex- MI6 agent Chris Winters lives by the rules. The most important rule of all: no messing around with a client. It works for him. Until it doesn't. His newest job for Cross Security should be simple. Poppy Jones, the hottest swimwear and lingerie model on the planet, has a stalker… a ghost from her past who is coming to collect what he believes is his. Chris is to protect her and find out who is issuing the threats.

Simple. Cut and Dry.
Until it's not.

Their chemistry is off the charts. But even as Chris fights his attraction to Poppy and discovers there is more to her than meets the eye, the real threat comes not from her stalker, but from the growing connection between them.

If he puts everything on the line, including his heart, will Chris still be able to keep her safe? Or will the ghost from Poppy’s past succeed in taking what he believes is his?

It’s a dangerous game to play. Who will succeed and who will fail?

With romance, suspense, heightend tension, and one calculating stalker....Chris (Cross Security #3) made for one exciting and intriguing read!

As the newest head of Cross Security's London office, Chris Winters thought his first assignment was a standard "babysitting" job. Thought, after meeting his client, he couldn't have been more wrong. Up and coming supermodel Poppy Jones is sweet, kind, and thoughtful. A woman who's beautiful inside and out.Unfortunately, that beauty has attracted the attention of a stalker who's determined to make her his.

Chris as a rule never mixes business with pleasure but, with each passing day, his attraction and adore for Poppy grows stronger. Making it difficult to remain professional and his head in the game where her safety is concerned...and when the threat of Poppy's danger becomes a reality, will Chris be able to protect his girl from harm.....

This was an enjoyable read that was entertaining from beginning to end! I loved the two prologues that introduced the main characters as children. It gave me insight into their very different backgrounds and brought them up to speed in present day where we find each at the beginning of this story. Chris and Poppy's instant attraction brought plenty of heat along with some pretty witty and steamy dialog. Poppy's stalker added elements of danger and intrigue that keeps you on edge as the storyline unfolds. If you're a fan of this series, there are plenty of cameos from the Cross Security team members that will have you being one delighted and happy reader!

I enjoyed my first experience into the world of Cross Security and will definitely be checking out the other titles in this series! If you're looking for a bodyguard romance with action, danger, suspense, and plenty of heat, give this book and its series a try!

CHRIS (Cross Security Book Three)

This is the third book in the Cross Security Series, and I think the stories are getting better and better with each one. This particular book is an age-gap romance story with a slow-burning forbidden attraction. I really enjoy how beautifully character-driven these stories are and how much fun they are to read. Who doesn’t like a little suspense with their heat? It’s a well-written, easy-to-read story with likable, believable, and relatable characters that you can’t help but to fall in love with – and I sure did. I adore this series and the way Nancy Brown writes it so that it all falls together quite nicely.

There will be more stand-alone books coming in the future.

It was my pleasure to receive a free copy of this book, but that does not in any way affect my opinions in this review of this entertaining story.

Poppy Jones dreamt of being a supermodel, but her dreams were shattered when, after some modeling, she was kidnapped by a young man. Once she told him she was only 12, he let her go with a promise that she would come back when the time was right. Ten years later, Poppy, a strong 22-year-old, decides to give her dream of being a model a chance.

Chris grew up to live his James Bond dream to the fullest. He worked for MI6’s secret agency for years. Seeing his friends finding their happily ever after, he gets a job at a serious security company, and that’s when his team is hired to keep Poppy safe and find out who the kidnapper is. Chris finds himself in hot water when their attraction is instantaneous, but she is his client and he is her bodyguard.

It starts as a slow burn. They are struggling to keep things professional but later on their relationship catches fire and they can’t keep their hands off each other. The characters are believable and well built. The author hasn’t forgotten about the traumatic consequences caused by the kidnapper, leading Poppy into therapy to deal with the aftermath and building Chris as a very supportive man, making their characters more relatable. Sometimes they act a little childish, mostly Poppy, but it's expected. She’s young. I loved the fact that Chris doesn’t complain throughout the story that he’s too old for her, or act like an old man at 35, which often happens in Age-Gap Romances. Good to go author!

Chris and Poppy truly care about each other and their thoughts tend to be a bit sappy and their inner struggles repetitive at times, slowing down the pace at some points in the book, but the light suspense dynamics and investigations are fast-paced throughout the story with the kidnapper showing up here and there. Poppy’s thoughts about the man are one of compassion. She wants to help him, and he seems to have a conscience hidden inside him as he promised never to harm her. I don’t want to give any spoilers here, but it’s a pity the kidnapper character wasn’t developed in the story. I had so many questions about his motives. After all, he gave her 10 years to grow up.

It’s the 3rd book of Cross Security series, and it can be read as standalone, but I always recommend reading the series for an awesome experience.

This series just gets better and better.
Chris is an ex Mi 16 agent. He knows what he wants and that's to do his job and go home that is until he's given the task of protecting Poppy Jones .

She's a stunning woman a model and has a stalker. Chris was stund to say the least when he saw her in person his crusty heart started beating again but he had a job to do and he was going to do it to the best of his ability and no feelings were going to get involved. Famous last words. !
As always Nancy Brown brings it all to the table the spice factor was off the charts and the chemistry between Chris and Poppy sizzled off the pages . I highly recommend this series.

She is 22 and he’s 35. Duo POV. Bodyguard romance (so some forced proximity, slightly forbidden since this is his job). The beginning prologues are quick life overviews for both MCs. Chris’s first chapter did jump around a bit but it is probably just a sped up version of events since the last book also had this first meeting in it and the real story doesn’t really start until after. Instant attraction on both sides. Poppy was a little childish at times but she is only 22 and he is 35 so I think those moments actually made a lot of sense even if I did roll my eyes sometimes. We get strung along with the tension for a bit but I’d say it was almost half tension then half relationship.
Some transitions seemed abrupt but some of those could have been an ARC format issue that will be fixed for the final.
I’m not bi and maybe i am over thinking this but there is a bisexual side character and it is mentioned he likes to share his partners which in itself isn’t bad but as the only bisexual character and with that being a stereotype it was a little cringy to me.

Note: both the MCs in this are Black or half Black and the author is white. Here are the things I noticed that I’ve heard discussed in relation to a white author writing Black characters to maybe help you decide whether to pick this up or not (not saying they’re necessarily bad or good, just things I think might be important for this author/character dynamic).
—describing FMC, word exotic and a food description was used once or twice for her skin
—race is not brought up in a societal manner in any way so racism/trauma is not dealt with in this.
—the FMC is half Black and does have a lot of “European beauty” characteristics such as blue eyes and thick, flowy brown hair.

Chris is former MI6 agent who now works for Cross Security and is heading up the new London office. Poppy, a famous model, is his first client and, unfortunately, she has a stalker, someone from her past who is set on claiming her for his own. The intense chemistry and instant attraction between Chris and Poppy poses a problem. When emotions are involved, judgements become cloudy and unreliable which means Chris could make mistakes while trying to protect her. Poppy is much younger, sweet and at times a tad immature. She has endured trauma in her young life that she is still dealing with, but has found the wherewithal to keep moving forward in her life. She is smart, admittedly scared, but also determined to keep doing her job. With her stalker escalating, Chris and his team have their work cut out for them keeping Poppy safe.

I liked that Chris and Poppy have a great connection and rapport, despite their age difference. I enjoyed their action packed and rather twisty story, as well as the spicy, more intimate scenes. This book also delivers when it comes to suspense, making it hard to put down. I won’t hesitate to recommend this compelling book.

Chris is book three in the Cross Security Series.

There is a lot of mystery and intrigue involved with this story. Chris is hired to be Poppy's security so with that comes the suspense. He needs to make sure she is protected at all times.

Chris and Poppy had a lot of intense chemistry, but Chris really tried to fight how he was feeling and remain professional at all times. I really liked his integrity. Poppy was a determined individual and slightly immature at times, but she is in her early twenties so this can be explained away.

This was a great conclusion to the Cross Security Series!

Chris and Poppy are such a cute couple. From the beginning they want each other but try to fight it, him more than her but still both try and fail at fighting the connection they feel. The love they have for each other is one we all want I think. Poppy goes through things that change her life a couple times and the last time Chris is there in every way she needed him to be. I definitely recommend this book. I recommend all of Nancy Browns books that I’ve read so far, she’s becoming a favorite author. I’ve been in a book funk because of things happening in life recently and this is what I needed to get me out of it. Mind Your Triggers

After getting to know Chris a bit in Luke's book, I could not wait to read his story and Nancy Brown did not disappoint. I already loved Chris and now I love him even more. He and Poppy had such a great instant connection that those around them could even see it. Loved how they fought it and then gave in and then they were ALL IN. Great suspense, great steam, adorable moments. Loved Chris's story!

Chris is book #3 in the "Cross Security" series. I loved that this book started with two prologues that give you an insight into each character as a child. You get to see how different these two really are. Which is why their attraction works so well. Because opposites attract. Can't wait to see what this series brings next.
