One steamy summer
Two hearts
Many secrets
And countless sins

Savannah dreams of becoming a dancer but bearing the Elswood family name means her personal wants are limited. She’s wedged between struggling to please her old-fashioned parents and pursuing her dreams.

When Savannah runs into Caden Wilderson—a rising soccer player with a witty mouth and an English accent who has a soft spot for her—an odd sense of déjà vu tilts her world upside down.

Flirty banter and summer air triggers sparks to fly, and the prospect of a summer fling increases with each fiery sin. But as the romance sizzles so do the preceding memories, causing the past and present to collide.

This searing summer exposes the secrets that have been buried for years and sets every relationship on the firing line.

I thought it would be a great read as I had reached the first third of the story. It was a very intriguing romance read and the characters had picked up my interest.
It was very well written and the alternations between past and present were fitting for the plot’s development, where the mystery was slowly unfolding.

However, my interest was diminished by all that drama that surrounded the main characters, mostly from their friendly and family environment. It was the main reason that prevented me from feeling strong emotions and the mcs from touching my heart.
They may have found their way to be back together but the epilogue was very short and didn’t give me the closure I waited for.

OKAYYYYYY... so I was one of the lucky people who got selected to be apart of Genicious' ARC readers. I got sent a copy of Sins for Cigarettes in the midst of my university exam period. Did I wait until said exam period was over to read the book? absolutely not, which is why I am sitting here at 2am writing this review for you all. Now onto the actual review. There is honestly just something about the way Genicious writes that feels silky and smooth. the writing in this book was phenomenal, she didn't skimp on details, nothing about the story felt rushed and the character development was amazing. Speaking of characters, i'm sorry, but Caden has taken the throne for best book boyfriend (sorry Ace :/ i still love you). This is the first book I have ever read where the male MC was a bad boy, dangerous and sexy but still respectful, gentle and non-toxic. the relationship between Caden and Savannah is so damn beautiful there is times where I genuinely had to put down the book to just cover my face with a pillow and squeal. And don't get me started on the storyline.... I mean I didn't expect anything less from Genicious but every time she brings out a new book the storylines have me in a chokehold (hence finishing the whole book in 7 hours straight). I love everything about this book, so many small details have been thought of to make Savannah and Caden's relationship that much more special. Everything about this book was unique and I can't describe how much I loved it, it was honestly such a joy to read.

This book follows Savannah and Caden, they find themselves together in a summer house for a week, he’s known as the bad boy of the town that had to go away and she’s the good girl from a rich family that just wants to fulfill her dreams. Sav is a ballerina and you can see how passionate she is about ballet, I connected to her character so much and I loved every part she was talking about dancing. Caden is the mysterious boy and a professional soccer player. He is so infatuated by Sav and he wants her to be his forever. I don’t wanna give anything away on the mystery of the book because it was so amazing seeing the story come together each other and everything adding up as we read. This book is dual pov and past/present and these two “summer fling” turns out to be so much more.

I honestly love this story so much and I was sad when the book ended Genicious is an amazing writer, I couldn’t put the book down because I wanted to figure everything out :)

Thank you so much Genicious for the arc copy in exchange for an honest review🥰

First and foremost. Thank you to Genicious for providing me with an ARC.

I did enjoy the story, I enjoyed the storyline and the world. I thought that the writing was just as good as the 'I Need You' series. Just something about this book I could not get into as much as the 'I Need You' series. I felt disconnected from the story and maybe that is because this is a standalone, so I felt like at times this book was rushed. In the 'I Need You' series, I think because it is a trilogy and you really grow with the characters, I always felt like I got what I wanted from those books. But because this is a standalone and it is one story being told in x amount of pages, it was hard to grasp the full story.

I do like Savannah and Caden, they are adorable and there was nothing wrong with the characters. I loved Savannah because she is a dancer and I used to be a competitive dancer. I loved Caden because he tried his best and did what he thought was best. However, a part of me needed more. I needed more story, more descriptions, just more. At the end it felt to me unfinished and that there were holes in the story that I wish I had.

The part I did really like and think is unmatched is the déjà vu and it being a second chance romance. I love second chance stories and that is one of the aspects that I loved about this book is the second chance for love.

Not trying to ramble, so I will just leave this as is. Thank you again to Genicious, I appreciate the opportunity to review your books early. I can't wait to read more from you.

Ahhh first, thank you x3000 to Genicious for kindly providing me with an ARC copy in exchange for a review.

Second off, this story was just WOW. Ugh I’m such a sucker for brooding bad boys and Caden was exactly that. The story follows Savannah and Caden through their past and present and a lurking mystery that will have you so invested.

I absolutely adored Caden and Savannah’s relationship. Their chemistry is so powerful and Caden is such a little sweetheart. THEY ARE JUST MADE FOR EACH OTHER!!!

Now as always Genicious’s writing was simply phenomenal. I adore her writing style and love the way she structures her books. Everything just flows so well.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a soft, steamy and mysterious love story about a boy and a girl who love each other so much, but the past keeps getting in the way…

I absolutely adored Caden and Savannah from the beginning, what with them giving me all the feels. Their story is one where you just know that these two are soulmates - that they're meant to be together. Also don't even get me started on the amount of times Caden made me swoon with his sweet talk. Honestly, this book was perfect if you're looking for a nlt so heavy read + a ton of sweet and swoon worthy moments between the MCs🥰😍

*Thank you to Genicious for providing an ARC of this book!🤍

never been a big fan of childhood friends to lovers or second chance romance, but this was just lovely. Caden and Savannah were so cute, and I really enjoyed seeing them together; their flirty banter and chemistry were amazing. The flashbacks too - caden is so swoon. Case in point:
"She was the type of girl who was marvelously chaotic. The type you’d chase all your life in hopes she’d notice you. And I was just a boy who fell under her intoxicating charm."
"Savannah was better than any drug. I could spend forever getting high off her voice, her laugh, her entire existence. She was the most compulsive addiction I’d ever experienced. And I couldn’t get enough."
This was your average fmc got into a traumatic experience and blocked out memories, and so we got flashbacks. I didn't love the flashbacks. They were nice to see what happened, but it felt like right when they were getting somewhere in the present, you're flung back to the past.
It also felt very choppy, as soon as they got somewhere, Savannah would start ignoring caden only for him to initiate something, and it would go on. Make up your mind, girl!!
Also, the epilogue didn't bring anybody closure. She never sorted things out with her parents?? what happened with the academy??
It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was a fun read.

He was someone I’d met by chance, but each second I spent with him was more phenomenal than the last

5 stars - loved it!

My god Genicious does it again. I finished this book in ONE day, it was so good and entertaining. Lots of tension and banter between Caden and Savannah that led to sizzling scenes which I thoroughly enjoyed. The way Genicious writes feels magical, her prose is so beautiful and original, and each sentence felt like it was thoughtfully crafted.

I think Caden overtakes all my book boyfriends. He was everything you could want and more! The relationship between him and Savannah was so pure and heartwarming, that I didn't want the book to end.

Even though we see POVs between the past and present, it was easy to follow and I was never confused. It kept me on my toes, always guessing what would happen and I never saw the plot coming. I loved how there were so many clues leading up to the big reveal!

Thank you so much to Genicious for sending me an ARC. I can't wait to get the paperback since the cover is *chef's kiss*.

I loved the tension between Savannah and Caden AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON CADEN THAT MANNN THE THINGS HE DID THE THINGS HE SAID

There is a dual POV between Savannah and Caden as well as a past and present, but it is quite easy to follow through it and makes the story a bit more enjoyable.

Overall I enjoyed this book and find it quite predictable but it’s all good. If you are looking for not so long book with a lot of swoon worthy moment i will definitely recommend this one.

firstly, i want to say a big big thank you to Genicious for the ARC

While I did enjoy Genicious's latest standalone novel, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would nor as much as I enjoyed the I Need You series, and I do believe that there were elements that could have added and expanded on the plot as an entirety, but I did love the subtle details that made Savannah and Caden connected throughout their time apart.

Main Character:
Savannah is an inspiring dancer who has a hard relationship with her parents.

As someone who also has a strong passion for dance, I really loved that aspect of Savannah's persona, and I think that having difficult guardians is an often-seen, yet something that should be more common in novels.

Caden is a rising professional soccer player who has a great career ahead of him.

I can say with certainty that I liked Caden's personality because I think that he was the backbone to his and Savannah's romantic relationship as he was the one who was trying to build back them together.

Savannah & Caden tangled love connection
"Why are you the only one who can make me feel like I'm free-falling from an edge of a cliff?"

Second chance romance, I think, is something that Genicious often incorporates in her works, and she does it well. Savannah and Caden have a tangled and intertwined relationship that they are both trying to build and unravel throughout the storyline of the novel. They, of course, have a rich sparking connection that keeps on growing and growing.

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: My only goal while reading this book was to not cry when it ends.

I didn't. But I was 🤏🏼 this close to bawling my eyes out.

One of the best thing about Genicious's books is, she always writes in such a way it will capture your freaking heart. Her writing is so poetic and the way she captures each and every emotions of the characters, it feels like we're the characters and all of those things are happening to us.

Savannah and Caden's story was so beautiful that it aches my heart. Their chemistry, their heartbreaking past and their connection, everything is so complicated but so beautiful. Their romance is literally the best thing about this book and I absolutely adore both of them!!!

The friendship in this book though 🙇🏻‍♀️ Jake and Sav's friendship is probably one of the best and no can convince me otherwise. And can I snag Jake and make him bestie? Please and thank you.

The plot 👁️👄👁️ Excuse me I wasn't ready for this. I literally forgot about my test and pulled an all nighter just to finish this book. Gosh the twist was so heartbreaking like damn Sav and Caden didn't deserve to go through that! My poor babies 😭💔

This book is 100% the best steamy summer romance I've read till now and y'all better pick this book to experience a wild steamy summer 🥵 Lemme tell you one thing, it has beach, Malibu nights, ballet dancer, soccer player, cïgãrëttës and hotter-than-the-sun kind of smuts 👀

Yes you heard it right. Now go read this book right now 🔪

Ps: There's a character in this book whose fashion sense absolutely sucks. So read at your own risk.

4⭐️ ARC COPY

This was the first ever ARC I ever received and I couldn’t have asked for a better first arc copy. (Guess you could say SFC took my ARC virginity *insert smirking face*)

Savannah and Cadens story was such a unique one and one I won’t forget. The story line genuinely kept me on my toes, usually I can tell where a storyline is going or what the conflict is pretty early on but It actually took me quite some time to figure it out and I loved that! I love that I was sucked into the suspense and it kept me reeled into the book.

I thought the story line was really interesting and was unlike anything I’ve ever read before, but I did have a hard time connecting with the characters which is the reason I’m giving it a 4 star. Connecting with characters for me in my reading is a huge aspect for me and unfortunately I didn’t connect enough with Savannah, nor Caden. I loved them both but there was nothing I could connect to them with. I will say though, I really did love that Caden wasn’t your typical playboy. I feel like I read a lot of books with those male MC who is just you’re stereotypical playboy and I really enjoyed that Caden was such a sweet and genuine person with a sweet and sexy side. I really did love how caring he was toward Savannah.

All of that being said, just because I didn’t personally connect with these characters, doesn’t mean other people won’t!! Overall, I really did enjoy this read and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves second chance romance like me. This was such a unique second chance romance book for me and I loved that! Unlike anything I’ve ever read. Genicious tells great stories with great characters and this did not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and check this out when it comes out on May 31 :)

so thankful that i was chosen to receive an arc!! it was so beautifully written and i was obsessed with sav and caden’s story from the beginning. something about the book had me going back for more and more everytime i stopped reading.

the story is told in past and present and dual pov. there’s something about the past that never gets solved or we never get the full picture, and the way i interpreted it was that this is life. we don’t always get what we want and we make due with what we have. that’s exactly what sav did despite what she went through and im so proud of her. sav and caden were drawn to each other since the very beginning like magnets 🥹 i love that for them 🤩 also love how it stemmed from them being kids/teens to adults!! theyre my new fav book couple atm 😌

also i really love jake!! we all need a bestie like jake in our life❤️ and fk ethan, maya, and corina, they can all fk right off and leave my girl sav alone😴

ARC VERSION

I was so excited when I saw that I was chosen for the advance reader! I wanted to read this book the moment Genicious announced that she was going to publish this one because I lovedddd I need you to hate me. And I knew she had made another amazing book.

This book did not disappoint. Savannah is an amazing character and I loved her. Sometimes I get a bit bored with the main characters or plot line but I hadn’t felt that way in this entire book! I wanted to know what had happend and I was so curious. Genicious gave us glimpses in the past from cadens pov and it almost made me want to read those chapters alone so I would know what he thought and what had happened.

Caden was amazing. He is one of the best book characters i know. He was so amazing and I love how much he liked/loved savannah. He was a very big simp. Sometimes I was curious about what he was thinking in the now, but it didn’t bother me because the past glimpses were all in his POV so that made up for it and he really showed what he felt for savannah.

THE TENSION PEOPLE. It was insane how much tension there was in this book. I wanted them to kiss and do other stuff. Be aware, that this is a slowburn. Halfway in the book they hadn’t done anything and I didn’t really knew it was a slowburn so I was a bit impatient and wondering when something finally happend. I can say that I was really excited when it did.

I loved Jake and I want a friend like him. I did think that his side plot could have been made better in the end, like I don’t know if he ended up with someone or anything and I would love to know that he did or didn’t.

The main reasons this book has 4 stars was that I wanted more moments between savannah and Caden as a official couple. I saw how they slowly gotten together and how they were when they were children but I didn’t really read about them when they were an official couple except for the epilogue! I would have loved to see a couple of moments between them when they were official.

Conclusion;
READ THIS BOOK YOURE GONNA LOVE IT AS MUCH AS I DID.

A big thank you to the author for sending me an arc of this masterpiece!
First of all, this book gave me all the feels. I forgot the joys that summer/ second chance love stories bring me. This book had me giggling like a little girl. Then the next minute I was sweating. I adored it. Most of the characters were so loveable. And the authors’ writing style. *chefs kiss* Her writing is so easy to get through, yet poetic. The tension build-up was immaculate. I seriously fell head over heels for Caden. And a baddie female mc… we love that. Adore this book, I’m so glad I got the chance to read it!

savannah and caden had so much hot tension during their time in the summer house. through the past memories you saw how caden did anything to be in close proximity with savanah. the way he needed her, because her presence calmed him down was everything. the pacing of how the story alternated from present and past was easy to understand. i feel like caden was the main pursuer of this relationship between them, savannah kept pushing away. he was so obsessed and enamoured by her, he was in love with her from the get go. i loved his representation of his mental health, how he deals with his adhd. felt like savannahs life was falling apart till the very end. her rekindling the friendship with maya shouldn’t have happened, she gave me the whole ick.
ps. hate corina, ben and ethan

Can I just say how excited I was to see that the MFC was a ballet dancer?! I loved the story of Caden and Savannah. It had a little bit of a mystery sense to it which put a neat spin on it. I loved how we got snapshots of their relationship from different points in their life which really demonstrated their chemistry and love for each other. It was so easy to see their love pouring out from the pages. I am very thankful to have gotten the opportunity to read an arc of this book.

Sins for Cigarettes by Genicious is a standalone contemporary sports romance that is sweet and steamy with an unraveling mystery. I read a lot of dark romance but sometimes I get the itch for something lighter and I am so glad I took a chance on this author!

Savannah Elswood dreams of turning her passion for ballet into a career, but her high-status family has other plans for her. When she runs into bad boy Caden Wilderson, a rising soccer star and her current boyfriend's cousin, an inexplicable sense of familiarity overcomes her. Their attraction and chemistry is undeniable, sparking a steamy summer fling that calls long-buried secrets to the surface.

"She was the type of girl who was marvelously chaotic. The type you’d chase all your life in hopes she’d notice you. And I was just a boy who fell under her intoxicating charm."

Genicious is a new-to-me author and I really loved her writing! This was so much more than a light summer read. I enjoyed all of the characters immensely, and the various types of relationships explored. The representation of friendship between Jake and Savannah is everything ... I wish I had a Jake in my life!

I'm a total hoe for childhood connection and the relationship between Savannah and Caden did not disappoint. I found myself completely wrapped up in the romance and mystery of their past together.

"Wouldn’t you rather fail at something you love than wonder what if for the rest of your life?"

This book has a resounding commentary on the importance of living authentically and following one's passion, as opposed to doing what is expected for money and status. This set such an inspiring tone that warmed my heart and made me reflect on my own choices in life and how I can do better to prioritize the things that make me truly happy. I loved how Savannah and Caden saw each other as equals and supported and believed in each other's dreams.

The ending felt a little rushed and I found myself wishing I had more time with Savannah and Caden after the story's climax — but it gave me all the feelings I was looking for and then some. I loved their story and the epilogue was so heartwarming and satisfying.

I'm really excited to read her I Need You series next!

I’ve been waiting for this release forever, and I’m so glad that Sins for Cigarettes is here now! Caden & Savannah have such an incredible story and the chemistry is immaculate. Not to mention that this story literally kept me on my toes in curiosity until the very end! The plot was unique, the characters were dynamic, and their love story was immaculate.

The steamy scenes were everything that I imagined and more (quite literally was not expecting some of those scenes, so you best believe that I was squealing while reading them!).

The plot twist was totally not what I was expecting either! The entire time, I was anticipating an event that didn’t happen, which had my head spinning in the best way possible.

I do wish that the second half and maybe the last 20% of the book was more spread out. Even though the book is thick, a majority of the things that we are waiting for happen towards the end of the story, and I felt like it would have been better if those plot points were focused on a bit better.

Also, I started the book thinking they were in high school at first, only to realize that later, the characters were older than I expected. I think it was a bit confusing for me, especially given that the main character Savannah was slightly immature when it came to certain things, but a lot of it began to make more sense when the plot points towards the end occurred.

Overall, a fantastic read. Genicious Fox writes such incredible stories — steamy, big plot twists and shocking scenes, and always has us on our toes! Check out this standalone if you’re looking for a place to start with her books!

"I promise I could never forget you even if I tried"
"I'll hold you to that"

First of all, I wanna thank Genicious to give me the opportunity to have an ARC of this piece of art which turns out to be one of my new favorite books.

Savannah and Caden's story starts on a summer vacation but they have already met each other, the thing here is that only one of them remembers. She is passionate about ballet but has to deal with her rich family that would not support her and that also keeps big secrets from her. Caden is a professional soccer player that since the start of the summer, only purpose was to spend time with her, one of the bunch of questions that Savannah has at his sudden interest.
His story didn't end in summer, they start to spend time together and we slowly get to know their past with Caden's pov.

It's been a long time since I experience this feeling for a book. I relate to Savannah when she doesn't have any idea of what to do now if to follow his dream or to do exactly what everyone expected her to do, but when she let Caden in, he was always supporting her to follow his dream. Get a career as a professional ballerina, and own a dance studio.

I was really scared about the end of the story tbh I think I wouldn't have handled a different end for this beautiful story lol.
Such a good read to introduce summer, but also a cute right person-wrong time.

Btw... I would give a sin for a cigarette too.

☆4☆ damn I didn't think this book was gonna make me cry so freaking much. I loved that the book had summer vibes (only in the beginning) and the mcs are very good...especially caden. I mean he's so sweet and caring and so hot and just one of the best bookmen I've read in my entire life. The way he always asked Savannah for consent, he cared about her pleasure AND made love to her too??? He's such a freaking husband. And let's not forget that he literally bought her a whole ass dancing studio and a ring that costs god knows how much.

I really like how much focus they put on Savannahs relationship with her parents and that it wasn't perfect. She was different and had her own opinion and I liked that about her.

The only thing I didn't like about this book is that they didn't put much focus into the fact that she might have been r*ped and the thing with Ben. It was like it didn't even happen after they once mentioned it. I also wanted to see how Caden reacts to what Ben did. Overall it was a really good book tho, genicious never misses ♡

Before I start this review I just wanted to thank Genicious for allowing me to be apart of the arc team ❤️❤️ OKAY INTO THE REVIEW!!

oh. my. god.

This book was amazing. I was intrigued straight from the start all the way to the end. Caden and Savannahs relationship was so wholesome and the tension between them in the beginning of the book was AMAZING. There aren’t many words that can express how much I enjoyed this book.

There was one quote that will probably stick with me forever it was:

“I live for fairytales. Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong era. I want there to be grand gestures and actual dates. Happy-ever-afters. Kind of sad knowing we’ll never experience what our parents and grandparents had.”

I think this quote basically sums up how I feel about romance and AHHH i just love it so much. And the very end when caden surprised her with her christmas gift and she made reference back to this quote was a huge tear jerker for me.

The plot twist in this book was AMAZING. I totally did not see it coming. I definitely knew that something happened but did not expect THAT.

everyone needs to read this book when it comes out you will not be disappointed.

First of all thank you to Genicious for sending me an arc of this book, I truly appreciate it!!

I loved everything about this book from the characters to the well thought out plot if was just perfect, chefs kiss.

I adored all of Caden’s sweet moments and how much he cared about Savannah. I loved Savannah so much, she deserves the world.

The way the chapters in the past and in the present intertwined was so much fun to read. There wasn’t a single moment I was bored in this book.

Now I have to say it was a tad bit predictable but I didn’t mind.

Before I end this review let’s appreciate the author’s writing because it was AMAZING. I will definitely read other books by this author!

I give this book a solid 4.5. Sins for Cigarettes has everything you've ever wanted/needed from childhood friends to lovers trope and second chance romance. Caden and Savannah's relationship will have you flipping each page faster than the last. Right when you think you know the conflict you're hit with this plot twist that you don't see coming...at all.

This is the type of book where you can simply sit back and relax. I highly recommend reading it in one sitting so you can fully grasp and also connect with the story/characters.

A personal opinion but I actually love it when romance novels aren't always based around the smut and it's more focused on the character dynamic as well as deeper connections. This is what this book provides!!

Ughhh I just can't get over how beautiful and well constructed this novel was. Caden is the type of fictional man you literally want in real life. He helps Savannah throughout the book and never gives up on their friendship. He's patient, kind and all of the above. Savannah is a strong female character who at times gets pushed into a direction she'd rather not be in. But she manages to pull herself out of it.

Now the reason I rated it a 4.5 and not a complete 5 stars is that I had trouble connecting with the characters. I also wished at times certain issues (in Savannah's life and Caden's) or things going on in their relationship were expanded on. I wanted more of Caden's POV, the past, their relationship and their friendship.

Aside from that I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed every last second and I am still truly honoured to have become an ARC reader.

Absolutely adored reading this book. The storyline was so enticing and I'm glad Savannah found her true self in the end, of course with help from Caden. This journey for the characters gave me so many emotions throughout I could barely keep up with them. This truly was a great read that had me hooked from the start and rooting so hard for the main characters to find their happiness after a long time and so many hardships.
