A Mature Love

Rate this book
Fiva Leota was groomed to be the perfect wife. She grew up watching her parents’ mature love and desperately wants her own. Her own personal choices in men have jaded her impression of love, but will she be able to tell when real love is in her face? Her habit of normalizing toxicity is making it difficult for her to navigate the relationship her beau has with his child’s mother. Will she allow her mind to narrate a story line that is fictional, or will she let her mind’s fiction become a non-fictional problem?

Hassan Glover understands love in its purest form, and more importantly, he understands healthy love. Will his maturity be able to move through Fiva in an osmosis type of manner, or will she continue to get in her own way? His relationship with his child’s mother has always been an issue in the past and with Fiva’s runaway imagination it makes that issue larger than life. The love he has for Fiva is strong, but will it be enough?

Explore Hassan and Fiva’s relationship as they both grow in A Mature Love.

Fiva was so immature. Her insecurities were unfounded and unnecessary. There was absolutely no reason for her to be so jealous of Everly. Especially, when she was nothing but nice to Fiva. That shyt she pulled at Hassan’s house had me wanting to slap the piss out of her then, slap some common sense into her. Like, ma'am, that was definitely NOT the move. Why are you complaining because this man has a peaceful co-parenting relationship with the mother of his child?!!! Keep in mind, Everly is happily married! Hassan clearly loved Fiva’s silly azz because, any other man would’ve walked away. But, the way he handled Fiva and her antics was admirable. He let her know I love you but, I don’t do drama and I will not put up with this kind of foolishness. Even in the end, I still didn’t see any real growth from Fiva but, I guess we'll have to chalk that up to their age difference. Hassan was definitely the mature one in this twosome. While I really enjoyed A Mature Love, I was not a huge fan of Fiva. Her childish behavior made her so dislikeable but, you gotta love a man who can see past your imperfections and love you regardless.

Soooo, Fiva was definitely not my favorite Leota! She was almost bratty with her insecurity, and it was off putting for me! I get that she has encountered some bad apples, and has had some not so good relationships in her past, but who hasn’t? If you don’t grow from those experiences, you will carry those residuals into your next relationship! Why jump into another situation with that same baggage, and you are not healed? Ughhh…. She was so damn frustrating! Then Hasaan! I get that you want a healthy relationship with your daughter’s mother, but when you see that it is causing issues with your girl, you have a decision to make! They both had issues with their communication, and it showed big time! I must say he was more patient than most, but it still felt like they were not “really” past all of their issues; but pushed forward anyway! Not a fan of this one!

Short and sweet

This was such a good story. I love the Leota family. Fiva had me concerned, Hassan was such a good man I didn’t want her to ruin it. I’m glad he was so patient with her. The ending had me almost in tears it was so beautiful. 5 stars all the way.

Binding love...

It is always good to catch up with the Leota crew. This novella did not disappoint, the Leotas came shining through. This was a brisk but fulfilling read. We got the full story of Fiva and Hassan in under one hundred pages.

I think Hassan and Fiva's relationship had its normal ups and downs. The irony is some of the things that were deemed immature I didn't think it was. I felt like Fiva was correct in her feelings about how close Everly and Hassan's co-parenting relationship was. As a woman, it's hard to accept such a friendly relationship between two people that created a child. I was glad that Hassan handled situations as he did, he knew when to walk away or communicate more. He pulled the trigger rapidly on how he saw their future. It worked in his favor and all parties were happy.

I was glad for this installment in this series. This Leota family is not easily forgotten. It doesn't matter who it is in the family, the brothers still play a vital part. And Hemi is always present and accounted for. I am looking forward to who is going to tell their story next. It's still a couple of brothers to go. If you haven't got into this series, you are truly missing out. The Leota family will get ahold of you and not let go.

Grow Up

As much as I love the Leotas, I don't care for Fiva and Fia that much. I like that they've found love and what not, yet they're very immature and don't seem to be changing much for me.

I get Fiva having concerns about her now husband, Hassan and his ex/baby mama, Everly, being close friends yet she chose to think there was more to them, rather than seeing a healthy co-parenting relationship. She added more stress and unneeded drama to her own relationship bc she didn't know a healthy co-parenting relationship when she saw one😒. Also, the whole immature way of handling things in her relationship with Hassan was quite annoying. I'm glad he loved and had patience enough with her bc a lesser man wouldn't.

It's always great to catch up with not only the Leotas, yet the Christianson crew too. Makes me want to go back to the beginning where all this started. I love that all these families are tied to each other in some way and that there is so much love constantly being displayed.

Another Mel Dau banger. Highly recommend.

Nice

Although this was a short story it was a bit slow for me in places. I have a time with insecure ladies most times. I need them to Use their powers for good, and occasional evil. Lol. Fiva was cute otherwise. Hassan sounds like a tasty treat... Together this couple sizzles. A nice read 4.5 stars.

Hassan And Fiva relationship!! I enjoyed reading about this couple. Fiva and Hassan both had to learn how to communicate with each other and throughout this story realized that was one key to a healthy relationship. Great read

Rating 4.5 ⭐️ This story didn’t just explore an age gap, it dissected emotional maturity vs. emotional wounds with surgical precision. What stood out most is how clearly the book shows that immaturity has nothing to do with numbers and everything to do with unhealed patterns. Let's be clear you can be old as Methuselah and still be very much immature!!

Fiva was exhausting in a very real, very human way. Her insecurities weren’t random. They were learned, nurtured and reinforced by years of normalizing toxicity. She wanted mature love, admired it, even idolized it but when it showed up calm and consistent she didn’t know how to sit still inside it. Instead of trusting what was in front of her she let her imagination write danger where there was none. Hiding in bushes, still expressing concerns days before a wedding is wild but it perfectly illustrated how distrust can masquerade as intuition when trauma is driving the wheel.

Hassan was the quiet anchor of this story. A truly mature man who understands boundaries, healthy co-parenting and emotional regulation. His patience wasn’t weakness. It was strength. The contrast between his steadiness and Fiva’s spirals made it painfully clear how love alone cannot compensate for insecurity that hasn’t been addressed.

This book does an excellent job of showing that a mature partner can offer safety but they cannot do the internal work for you. Growth is not contagious. Peace doesn’t automatically heal chaos. If anything it exposes it.

This was a thoughtful, sometimes frustrating but very necessary read about what happens when someone wants grown love without doing grown healing. It challenges the idea that love fixes everything and reminds us that trust, self awareness and emotional responsibility are non negotiable if you want love to last.

4/5⭐️ 4/5🌶
- I really enjoyed this book lol! It took me on a roller coaster because in the beginning I was like absolutely not but by the end I was like absolutely.😂😊

- Fiva is just young and turnt for all the wrong reasons. She knows what real love looks like because her parents showed her. However throughout her adult life she's been through her fair share of breakups that ultimately left her very insecure and immature. Until she gets into a relationship with the lovely Hassan who plays zero games and isn't afraid to tell Favi when she's wrong. Hassan is this awesome dad, he's fine asl, and he plays football. Now he's the full package and the only woman he wants is Fiva. But all I know is if a man says he prayed for me.... chile I wouldn't know how to act.

- Now the kicker is that since Fiva is so insecure it causes a lot of trouble in their relationship. She has to learn what a healthy and happy relationship looks like before she loses everything. In the beginning I did feel like she was too insecure for this relationship to work but by the end I was tipping my hat to her for all the work she put in to be a better woman.

- This is the type of writing that made me love Mel Dau as an author. Definitely worth the read!

ok (spoilers)

This one was just ok. I liked it but some parts annoyed me. I didn’t really like how Hassan talked to Favia. Like, he knew she was several years younger than him so he should have expected some level of immaturity from her. I felt like she was justified in her feelings about his daughter’s mother and him being as friendly as they were. Especially since his last relationship failed because of how close he and his daughter’s mother was. I kept thinking, so you about to have another failed relationship for the same reason. Meanwhile, your ex has a husband. He wanted Favia to communicate with him like a mature adult but failed to communicate that his child’s mother was at his house when he was only supposed to be having a movie night with his daughter. It’s like she had to bend to him every time he didn’t like her reaction to something. It truly wasn’t that big of a deal that Favia didn’t tell him who her people was. That was blown way out of proportion. She didn’t have to get in his face but he didn’t have to leave either. So yea! It was just ok.

I guess it was alright

This was cute and all because it was written by one of my faves; however, something in me knew I wasn’t gonna be too fond of Hassan and Fiva. He says he doesn’t have an issue with her age but he definitely does with the amount of times he references her immaturity. Was Fiva doing a bit much, yes but Hassan came out his saying how important communication is but he lacks it because he only wants to have an actual conversation when he’s feeling a way - they both were wrong as hell but he immediately thinks everything is her fault. The dismissiveness of her feelings was a bit much. Sure he might be a good guy but he needs to do some retrospection. Fiva was in everyone’s business but her own and not to mention their asses shouldn’t get married. Fiva need to get her ass in therapy because her jealousy and comparison amongst others is a bit much and she doesn’t realize it. Not gonna lie it was gonna be a DNF but it’s not a long read . I started writing this before I got to the end… boy am I glad they’re in marriage counseling

Fiva tore my nerves to shreds! She was too immature and I feel like Hassan was too much man for her. She was so immature that I can't believe Hassan had the patience to deal with her. To me, the mature love referred to Hassan, Wes, and Everly's co parenting relationship because they were working that thing out! Also, Everly had to read Hassan about leaving Fiva in the dark about her coming and going which only fueled Fiva's insecurities--again making Everly the most mature of the bunch. Having said all that, I do believe the story would have been better if it were not a novella and we could see Fiva's growth. The story also highlights the fact that the most beautiful people, who have all the money and exposure in the world can still harbor insecurities that alter their perspectives and reality.

I could not wait for this book after how things came out in Soul Fire, I was ready for all the details regarding Fiva and Hassan’s relationship… and I got them!
These two were perfect for each other but definitely had some things to work on 😂 I did not expect to laugh as much as I did while reading this book. Hassan is bae but the way he handled Fiva and her shenanigans was frustratingly hilarious! My girl Fiva just wanted certain things to make sense! I hated that this book ended although Mel Dau gave me everything I needed I was definitely being greedy with this one. I started this series late, but I am loving the Leota family, and I can’t wait for more stories

Another great story!

Well Mel you did your thing again with the Leota gang…

I will say Fiva and Hassan were both wrong with the communication department. I would have did the same thing Fia did I won’t be getting shot for no one twin included 🤣🤣🤣.

Fiva was a little immature because there was no way she should have a attitude about parents co-parenting. She lucky the babymama wasn’t all about drama, she was wrong for not communicating that and holding it and I am glad her sister told her about herself

I am looking forward to the next book by you, this is definitely a start to finish in one day type of book!

eh

It seemed Hassan’s complaint was Fiva’s immaturity, and she definitely was, but I just didn’t feel any growth past it. Hassan admittedly had an unconventional relationship with his child’s mother, but he had to be told by his ex to get him to realize that he should talk to Fiva about it, despite him having been in two other relationships after being with his child’s mother. Maybe it’s because this book starts in the middle of their relationship and not the beginning, but I just didn’t love this one.

The title is exactly what This book was about a mature love. I love the fact that Fia was able to come to terms with Hassan’s and Everly’s relationship. Of course it is strange and not normal that many people have a great coparenting relationship but Hassan and Everly‘s relationship was a true meaning of coparenting. I’m glad that Fia was able to get over her insecurities and have a great relationship with her now husband. There definitely were some challenges but I’m glad everything worked out in the end. Great read!

Fiva better get it together!!

Fiva was irking my nerves with how she was acting at times. Got this fine sent from heaven man in love with you and you wanna act foolish!! I loved seeing the importance placed on healing from past toxic situations and even more than Hamilton held on when he could have let go many times. The Leota family is one of my favorite book families to read about because each sibling and their significant other bring something different to the table. The main themes of unconditional love and family are what I love reading the most

😮‍💨🤦🏾‍♀️Hmmm, I didn’t understand the logic with Fiva & Hassan as a couple? …just look at her brief relationship history. She thrives in secrecy, toxicity, insecurity & possessiveness. Fiva doesn’t have the confidence or maturity to date an NFL player. …and she’s petty & juvenile 🥴!…Hassan & Fiva should’ve had warning ⚠️ labels attached: crazy, sexy but not cool (🤔 my thoughts were more visceral). ”A Mature Love” was a mediocre read. I didn’t relate to Fiva character. She insufferable seven out of eight chapters of this book. Honestly, there was nothing mature about their love story 🤷🏾‍♀️‼️

Patience is Required

Fiva's story is really one of patience and Hassan was a man of just that. This age gap story was one where immaturity and past relationship trauma ae at the forefront and have very real consequences. Luckily for Fiva, Hassan was very clear about what he wouldn't accept in his relationship but also undertanding enough to let her make the missteps she did without the threat of their relationship coming to an end. I enjoyed seeing her growth even though there were times I wanted to bop her in her head.

Love the Leota family

This was an amazing story on the growth and maturity of love. While in love with Hassan Fiva had some maturing to do to allow their love to grow into all it could be. Hassan loved Fiva with everything in him but sometimes her immaturity and insecurity tested that love. I wondered about these two when they were mentioned in earlier Leota books. I enjoyed their journey to their HEA.

Words failed me on how to describe Fiva because she was really immature IMHO! She projected her insecurities in this entire book!

She was so insecure regarding the relationship between Hassan and his BM because she thought in her immature mind that the BM was perfect, and why he would leave a “perfect” woman when she’s not perfect, but no one is perfect. Hassan also needed to communicate the closeness with his BM, because he did experience where this is what broke up his prior relationship. BM was cool and Fiva do not want a BM from hades!

This couple is my least favorite and I enjoyed the prior books better!

Now the only thing I didn’t really care for is that it seemed that Fiva just wanted something to be wrong with the co parenting relationship between her man and his bm. Yeah they were a bit much okay, but I’d rather have that than toxic baby mama-baby daddy relationships smh. That ish just looks tiring just to watch imagine being in one….

I guess it’s why her book is called mature love… she needed to grow up to be able to accept it or lose a good man.

P.S. - Issa series…

my family!!

I absolutely loved Fiva and Hassan’s love story and my best friend Hemi made an appearance so I was very happy reading this book!

It was great seeing their relationship grow. Hassan knew from day one that she was the woman he prayed for and even when they had to deal with each other’s insecurities, he always right there with her.

If you love sports romances with a big family then this is definitely the book for you!

Love conquers all!! Communication is key in any relationship and once they figured it out things worked out. Fiva got over her insecurity with Everly which was a good thing. Hassan was a good and patient man, as he dealt with Fiva immature ways. But she was still learning and growing in love, he did have a few years on her, lol.

Glad it all worked out…Fiva and Hassan married and grew their family.

Beautiful

Whew for a minute there I thought they weren't going to make it! That Fiva and those insecurities were a bitch! But the love and understanding that Hassan showed overshadowed the BS. Though the co parenting relationship and friendship wasn't "normal" I enjoyed reading about it! This was another beautiful love story I I was TOTALLY HER FOR IT!! Great job once again!!!!

Fiva💜

Fiva was hilarious as she tackled the past toxicity she was used to as it tried to creep in her present situation. I was worried that Hassan wouldn’t be able to deal with her but their relationship was a true representation of how the one for you really is for you! Flaws and all!

Great Read

Fiva was a handful! She would jump to conclusions without asking Hassan questions. He loved her so her tolerated her ways. She loved Hydeia just like she was hers, so that was another plus. She was just insecure from her past relationships. After getting married and getting counseling, she became better. Great read.
